About this listing

Our room overlooks a quiet street next to the park. It is luxuriously furnished in a contemporary modern style with a state of the art entertainment system and a full kitchen. Groceries and subway station next door will make your stay super easy!

The space

Our comfy room is part of a two bedroom apartment furnished in a minimalistic contemporary style. The bedroom easily accommodates for two on a queen gel mattress and features a connected private bathroom. Located just 5mins from downtown. Enjoy a full kitchen and access to the subway a block away.

The location is quiet yet it provides easy access to where all the action is. Downtown is a 5 minute drive or subway ride away making it easy to quickly escape to: City Center Mall, Citadel Theater, Art Gallery of Alberta, Empire Cinema, Alberta Legislature, or a number of bars, clubs, pubs, and restaurants along Jasper Avenue.

Guests will be accommodated in the master bedroom which has its own private bathroom. The bed is a gel queen size mattress. There is also a closet for storage.

Guests have access to the following shared amenities: full kitchen (microwave, stove, oven, fridge, washing machine), washer/dryer, living room (home theater system), Wi-Fi, office desktop computer, and balcony area.

Also available to guests is unlimited calling to the US and Canada through the home phone line. Additionally there is an Airbnb guest Android smartphone with a local prepaid SIM card that guests can borrow for the duration of their stay. Alternatively, if guests have their own unlocked phone, they can just borrow one of the two prepaid MicroSIM/SIM cards for their local communication convenience.

Off limits will be the second bedroom and second bathroom.

Host is present at the listing during the guest's stay and is always happy to interact with the guests and willing to share his 7 years knowledge of the neighborhood and city to help you get the most out of the visit.

If you want to work out, swim, play badminton, basketball, or soccer, you can walk (or borrow the bike and cycle) to Commonwealth Stadium, national soccer stadium and home of the Edmonton Eskimos CFL football team.

During the summer the adjacent Borden Park is a great place for a picnic or to play soccer and tennis. (host holds a national tennis professional certification and may be available for private lessons upon request)

To make you feel cozy the block features a Save On Foods supermarket, two hair salons, a dry cleaning service, fast food (Panago Pizza, Subway, MacDonalds), and a medical center.

If you want to visit West Edmonton Mall, largest mall in North America, there is a bus that stops right in front of the apartment every half hour and takes you all the way to the mall within 30-40 minutes.

Stadium subway station is a block away allowing for easy travel along the subway line to visit places such as the University of Alberta (18 minutes), Rexall Place (3 minutes), home of the Edmonton Oilers NHL hockey team and venue for all major concerts, or the international airport shuttle (30 minutes).

We were in town for an event at Commonwealth so this was an ideal location because it is easily walkable from here. David was really responsive, quick to message back and very friendly when we arrived. The parking was a bit difficult because it is visitor parking only and that was full, so it took a considerable amount of time to figure that out. The space was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Overall a great stay! Thanks

David was very helpful and prompt to respond while we arrived. The room was exactly as pictured and clean. The neighbourhood was quite, although it was close to a major road.

We weren't there for long but great location and excellent bathroom off the bedroom. Excellent host and offered anything you needed while staying there.

David & Maya User Profile

David is originally from the Cycladic isles of Greece and Maya is from the coast of Brazil. We now call Edmonton our home. Living in the Bellevue community, close to city centre, is great fun as we are very close to all the major events. We also like to indulge in the cultural offerings the capital city’s downtown has to offer such as the gallery, theater, library, and cozy Jasper Ave pubs, especially with the Light Rail Transit a block away from home.

David is an MSc student in Psychopharmacology at the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Alberta. His research combines genetics and pharmacology to develop personalized treatments for patients suffering from addiction and/or mental illness.

Maya is an Electrical Engineering student who specializes in communications. Currently her research is in the Center of Nanotechnology at the University of Alberta making small code smaller so the smallest devices can do more.

Together we love playing and talking about tennis so our condo is filled with references to the sport we love. We enjoy travel (especially to warm ocean-side destinations), food, music, languages and exploring the beautiful landscape that Canada offers. David has an interest in dinosaurs and the archeology of ancient civilizations while Maya has a soft spot for robots.

Our home is always ready for visitors. We like to keep it clean and uncluttered, such as you would expect a good hotel space. We also have this constant urge for home-improvement so some returning guests may find our home changes slightly from visit to visit.

Vincent van Gogh once said "The fishermen know that the sea is dangerous and the storm terrible, but they have never found these dangers sufficient reason for remaining ashore." We often find ourselves when travelling running off the beaten path and toward the "sea" of opportunity that holds the promise of some adventure.
