Maribel is a lovely host, however, we were disappointed with some aspects of our stay. The house is quite run down. While it is clean, we were surprised by the condition of the house, which is not reflected accurately in the pictures online. The bathrooms in particular were very dilapidated. The house is a family home, and guests should be aware that evenings can be very noisy until very late at night. The house is fairly conveniently located not far from the centre of Guadalajara.
Maribel was a generous and friendly host. Guests should just be aware that this is very basic accommodation, the house and rooms very run down and that the amenities are ancient.
I had the pleasure of staying with Mirabel and other house guests (all university students) for four weeks while I took daily Spanish classes at a nearby language school. The living quarters are more than comfortable. I had plenty of space to myself, and was not lacking for anything, and so felt absolutely at home. The location is safe and within walking distance of the central district and numerous other attractions. With the freedom to come and go as I pleased, I felt exactly like a resident of Guadalajara as opposed to a visitor.
Mirabel is warm, generous, and has a lovely sense of humor. She went out of her way to be of assistance to me whenever I encountered some issue or point of confusion. I highly recommend a stay here. Thanks to Mirabel for making my time in the city an unforgettable experience!
