Rancho Reserve is a 100 acre pristine private park that offers a handful of campsite just 2 miles from hwy 1 in Santa Cruz and 4 miles from the beach.
This is a family scene, not a party scene, though moderate alcohol consumption is allowed.
The group camp is on the edge of a large meadow that is usually full of deer and other wildlife in the evening. Friendly controlled dogs are welcome!
This camping area is only available for the celebration of the 4th.
This is for 2 tents, there is an additional $15 charge for each additional tent.
I have a security guard living on the other side of the property about 300 yards away out of site.
Coffee shops are 2 miles away, next to Safeway, etc.
No campfires right now, but the sky over the meadow is gorgeous!!
I think I'm a broken record. This is my 4th ( ? ) time to stay on the reserve. It seems like each time I'm there it gets better and better. I states in the care taker tent. It was clean, had a mattress waiting for me that was comfortable and it's simply a haven from my day to day life.
One weekend I'm booking the tree bed.
I've been at the Ocean view and care taker site. Time to switch it up. I do love the tent and the space!
Dayle, excellent job!
Great spot; big hole in the tent that lets in a lot of spiders and earwigs. Very nice host. Also helped us with a dead car battery.
I probably will keep coming to Dayle's place again and again. Why? Love the area, love the place in itself and Dayle is a wonderful host. Seasons change and may bring new air, new life - owls, deer, crickets, new leaves, no leaves and the site will be different and ready to be re-discovered. ¡Gracias!
Awesome place to camp. Very private. We stayed in the Caretaker Camp. The mattress was very comfortable. Super convenient to enjoy the local beaches of Capiltola and Santa Cruz as well as seek out trails in the mountains. A great landing spot to call base camp while exploring this beautiful area.
Dayle was a great host and made himself accessible for any questions or needs during our stay. Definitely going back!
A very private camping experience!: Beautiful shaded site under the oak trees; an old fashioned tent, not entirely sealed from insects but spacious; a clean comfortable mattress; a wooden table perfect for preparing food.; a small pit and chimney to make a cozy fire... that's what we got. It was a very enjoyable stay and our host Dayle was a delightful person who showed us around and gave us suggestions for hikes around the area. I had a very peaceful stay at the Caretaker Camp at Rancho Reserve. Hoping to be back again.
This was my second stay and it was a great weekend. The tent was in a different location from my last visit. More remote and I loves it.
Dayle has made some improvements; the shower is really awesome. And, I enjoyed the old location. The new shower is even better nestled in a redwood grove.
I really enjoy my weekends here. The land is beautiful. Dayle is a great host and I'll be back again and again.
The caretaker camp was very nice and private. We had a great time staying. The only complaint my girlfriend had was there were spiders which she was afraid of. Given that it was camping it was not an issue for me though. Dayle was great. I accidentally ran the battery down in my truck charging my cell phone and he came and gave us a jump. It was extremely appreciated.
Staying on the reserve was exactly the experience I wanted. I stayed in the caretakers tent and enjoyed it. The reserve is beautiful.
Dayle was a great host. He gave a great tour of the property. The outdoor kitchen in the redwood grove was crazy awesome. While I didn't use the kitchen, the space was very cool.
I was looking for a weekend away from San Francisco. I wanted some alone time. I got it.
I will spend more weekends at Dayle property.
