Mi casa es su casa! My home is situated in an established neighborhood in north central Austin. The house is charming and colorfully decorated with folk art, hardwood floors and Mexican tiles throughout.
Your room is beautiful and peaceful and with the layout of the house it offers complete privacy. The rental is located at the far end of the house. Every window has pull down blinds and all doors can be locked for your complete private oasis. You can come and go through your own keyless coded door without having to walk through the main house and the doors to your room can be locked from the rest of the house.
This 500 square foot space is completely self-contained. There is a small private bathroom with a sink, shower and toilet. The bedroom has 1 daybed with a trundle to make a king size bed or 2 twins. In the same room there is a comfortable futon couch that folds down in to a full/queen size bed. There is a TV,DVD player, stereo with ipod connection, indoor/ outdoor speakers, Keurig coffee maker, tea pot, filtered water, microwave, mini fridge, small desk, ceiling fan, armoire, ironing board/iron and internet access in your room. All towels, linens, pillows, pool towels, blow dryer, soap and shampoo are also provided.
Your door leads to a backyard paradise including a huge back patio with a BBQ grill, fire pit, mature trees, hot tub jacuzzi and a lap pool for your enjoyment. The swimming pool can be heated for an additional fee if necessary during the winter months.
Breakfast is not included but I do provide coffee and tea which is available in your room.
You will have shared access to the kitchen and living room area. Our home is open, comfortable, clean and smoke free.
We do have an outdoor cat that comes around for her daily feeding but does not come in the house.
Downtown Austin, UT, Zilker Park, Austin Convention Center, Barton Springs and Austin's entertainment district are all approximately 5 miles away and can be reached by car or public transit. There is a bus stop within walking distance (.5 mile). There are plenty of restaurants, parks and grocery stores near the property.I do recommend renting a car or using Cars 2 Go. Public transportation is not the best if you really want to see and experience Austin and all of the great things it has to offer.
Reservations can't be taken more than 90 days in advance.
My listing requires a 2 night minimum stay on the weekends only but I will consider a 1 night stay if you ask!
We would love to have you in our home! Every part of me loves hosting and welcomes anyone and everyone!
Guest access includes living room, dining room, kitchen, backyard patios, swimming pool and laundry facility.
Interaction with Guests
I interact with guests as much or as little as they like. I am out of town quite often. There are guests that stay that I never even meet because they prefer complete privacy and then there are guests that I end up keeping in touch with because a friendship comes out of their visit. I respect either preference!
I moved here 25 years ago and when I travelled down my Boulevard for the first time, I knew that this is where I wanted to live. It is an amazingly beautiful street with a bike path and runners taking advantage of the shade trees lining the street. My neighborhood is peaceful, well established and quite lovely when everything is in bloom.
Bikes are easy to rent. Cars 2 Go are available. Buses run nearby to downtown. I drive for LYFT. Feel free to ask me about LYFT for a free ride up to $25.
Other Things to Note
If you have more than 3 guests, I may be able to accommodate you depending on the reservation date request.
MapQuest or (website hidden) Maps or any GPS will have you taking 2222 to my house. That street changes names at least 5 times! The names are Koenig Lane, 2222, Northland, 290 (east of HWY 35), Allandale Rd..
Mopac is the same thing as HWY 1
No smoking in house (outside is fine). Please use ash tray if you choose to smoke outside. Keep the noise level down in the backyard. No pets.allowed. Keep doors locked when leaving the house. Feel free to ask for anything you may need to borrow or use!. If you are going to have extra guests over, please let me know ahead of time. I am open to friends or family coming over but just give me a heads up so I know who is on the property!
Recycling is a must.
My husband and I travelled to Austin on a very chilly day when the forecast was calling for ice. When we arrived to our room, it was already toasty warm with heaters on, cozy lighting and colorful designs. It was clean and inviting, better than the description listed. We only stayed for a quick overnight trip, so we never had the pleasure of meeting Barbara, but hope to stay at her place again someday. It really was very lovely!
This is my second stay with Barbara. Her home is very comfortable and she is very welcoming. I'll stay again if I have the opportunity.
Stay was great! Comfy bed and place just like pictures. HOT TUB was awesome. Didn't get to meet Barb. for she was out of towm, But she stayed in touch and answered all questions !!
This was a terrific Airbnb experience...the accommodations were wonderful and Barbara was helpful and a delight. She provided very helpful pre-arrival information. And even though I needed to arrive a bit late, she greeted me, gave me a helpful briefing on everything. The home was very nice - loved the automatic lighting along the pathway to the separate/private entrance. Unfortunately, I didn't get to enjoy the wonderful back yard with pool and loungers - I'll have to plan my visit better next time. I'd say everything was nicer than I expected and I'd definitely stay there again.
Barbara and Will were excellent host and hostess. They were very friendly and made my husband and me feel very welcome. The room we stayed is much more beautiful than in the photographs. She had left tea, coffee, and even a small jar of hersery chocolate kisses in the room. They were available for any questions we had. If it were a hotel I would rate it at the 5 level. The hot tub was wonderful. Jeff and I spent some time in it every day. It was a little too cold to swim. It is easy to park on the street. Thier home is located in a good neighborhood and it is easy to get downtown.
I plan to tell my friends about her place.
The host made me feel very welcome. The listing and pictures were accurate. The neighborhood was as described, with attention to detail that was helpful upon arrival. The location is excellent for downtown meetings or visits. The lodging accommodations were perfect; clean, comfortable and with nice amenities. Just the right balance of privacy and friendliness. Little instructional signs strategically placed helped me know what the rules were, and how to do things to mutual expectations.
Loved staying at Barbara's! Her place was so cute, nice, clean, & comfy & they are the sweetest hosts! The hot tub was a bonus, a pool in the summer...We can't wait to stay again & again. Thank you!!
