ARRIVING BY TRAIN - in to Edinburgh's Waverley Station;
The number 29 is best and you can get this from the bus stop on Princes Street right outside the front entrance at the top of the many many steps and escalator. The bus stop is immediately outside the exit on the same side of the road. You get off the bus at the 2nd stop past "Crewe Toll Round-About". This is right at the end of my street and the house is the first house in the street :0)
You can also get the number 37 from this location at the next bus stop to the No29 (there are a few bus stop/shelters standing together at the exit) and also a 19 or a 47 too but will then need to walk a short distance when you get off the bus at "Crewe Toll Round-about" (the distance of 2 bus stops from Crewe Toll to my street which is approx 1 minute.
HEADING INTO TOWN - You can get a bus from right outside the house to anywhere you want in the city- the center of town takes 15 minutes. There are several large supermarkets nearby including a Waitrose situated in trendy Stockbridge. This is where you'll find some of Edinburgh's best funkiest pubs and restaurants and (email hidden)ly and eclectic cultural hub. Here you will discover countless quirky and independent shops that rub shoulders with media companies and architects and you'll find a real sense of spirit and community. You can walk here in 10 mins or get a bus which takes a few minutes or better yet take a scenic walk through the delightful Inverleith Park past the allotments to take in the reed marsh pond and feed the ducks & swans. You may even get lucky and spot the local heron that sits on the chimney pots above the pond looking for his next meal. There is also the splendid Royal Botanic Gardens close by which much be paid a visit if the time allows. On the way to the Botanic Gardens (continuing from my house on Ferry Road and staying on Ferry Road) is the closest Supermarket called Morissons. It is a 5/6 minute walk from the house. The immediate area is quiet with a small park and small grocery shop where you can get all your basic essentials.
A selection of basic breakfast options will be supplied when you arrive for you to use as required to help you enjoy your stay in the stunning city of Edinburgh.
Nice apartment in a convenient location. Around the corner from the bus stop, and then a 15 minute ride into the city. Karen answered all our questions promptly. Great collection of board games and nosh in the apartment.
We had a really lovely stay. The flat is great and in a good location for getting into the city. Thanks for all the helpful tips with exploring the area :)
Karen was a great host and very welcoming. She took the time to provide us with lots of useful information about the area and things to do / see. The apartment is nice and is well equipped with everything you could need, including lots of leaflets for tourist attractions etc. Karen told us that we were welcome to use the bread, milk and other bits and pieces in the fridge, which was very nice of her.
We were lucky with the weather but when we did need to put the heating on we found that the flat warmed up quickly. Karen had also thoughtfully left out extra duvets.
The attic room was fun, but it's worth mentioning that it's up a ladder.
The bath was amazing!
The location of the flat was great. We used the 'Edinbus' app (which was amazing, I wish the buses here ran as well as they do in Edinburgh!) on Karen's recommendation and found it very easy to get into Edinburgh and Leith.
We would definitely stay at Karen's again.
Karen's place was cosy, comfortable and within a 2 min walk to the bus stop to get into the city easily. Karen was very friendly and great to communicate with and had loads of good tips. The bathtub is a nice treat!
The only thing to note is that the bed was a bit uncomfortable. Other than that, everything was great and we had a nice stay in Edinburgh.
Lovely week-end in Edinburgh, and lovely flat ! Thanks again Karen, it was perfect !!! Clean, tidy and beautiful house, close to the city center and very quiet. We've loved being here !
Thank you, Karen. The flat is really lovely and cosy, it is surely 10 minutes from the city centre. Easy to locate. All the necessary things are provided. I would recommend that place for people who want spend the time in the capital without spending too much.
Karen was a great host! Her house is wonderful with cool location and easy access to city center! Her advices helped us a lot! Highly recommended!
Great accomadation very close to city centre.
Karen is one amazing host,
who goes outta her way to make your stsy as comfortable as possible
Perfect for buisness or pleasure!
From start to finish, Karen was very helpful, with useful information regarding transport and local walks. The apartment is extremely comfortable and cosy, ticking every box in the book. As a family with three children, there was no shortage of space, and Karen was also happy for our dog to come and stay last minute. This listing is in a great location, the bus links are excellent, and also walking to Stockbridge and Inverleith park was accessible and lovely with the kids. The app 'Edinbus' is handy for getting to wherever you want to go in Edinburgh. This would be our first choice again next time we visit Edinburgh.
Really helpful and pleasant host. Her recommendations for food etc were good, we particularly recommend Roseleaf which she suggested. Very accomodating with check in times and easy to leave. We felt good position with easy parking but also good public transport links.
