Interaction with Guests
This is a shared apartment, so we are home every night. We often work from home, so you can find us home a couple days a week. If our guests want to interact, we are happy to share stories about the city, or provide recommendations for places where to go visit, eat, etc. If out guests are more reserved, we totally honor that and we are happy to respect your space.
We live in a big city, but in a neighborhood that feels like a small town. A 5 minute walk from the apartment, and you can get to 'Downtown El Segundo' where there are some restaurants, bars, library, small art gallery, and you see all kind of people, from the Aerospace Engineers working nearby to the dudes in bikes and surfboards :) Thursdays also bring a cute farmers market to the area.
Realistically, LA is not a great city for public transportation or for pedestrians.
If you can, rent a car. 15 minute walk from our apartment there is a car rental (Enterprise) and we have had a great experience with them in terms of service, price, quality.
That been said, if you want to take public transportation, there are bus stops a minute from the house. Those buses can take you to: nearby beaches, metro station where you can catch the subway to downtown/Hollowyood, or the Transit Center, where you can connect to all main bus lines.
Also, there is always Uber and cabs available
No shoes inside the house. No smoking or pets inside. I love dogs and cats, but unfortunately our lease does not allow us to have pets.
You can use anything in the house, just leave it as you found it. If you have a board or anything bulky you are welcomed to store it in the garage.
Although there are some bars within walking distance -and plenty a cab ride/ uber away, yay!- please don't be loud after 11ish, late night.
Nice neighborhood close to the airport and not too far from the beach, in a safe location. The house is easy to find, has a parking, and is clean. The proximity with the airport was not a problem and the earplugs made the job. Main street is at the corner with a nice coffee shop for breakfast or a cup of coffee. Paula and Bernardo are nice hosts.
Very nice people. Very clean house. Love the beach that was pretty close. Beautiful neighborhood
We only met Paula but she was very welcoming. She was working from home and let us come at any time while she was there. The room is perfectly described and that blanket is the best! So warm and soft!
The place is close to the airport as it is described but ear buds are given. I actually liked using them regardless.
The neighborhood is nice. Its quite and well kept. If you are looking for a vacation outside of LA this is perfect. Or if you want to be close to Santa Monica and Venice without the high price then even better!!
The neighborhood is very peaceful and quiet. Paula and Bernardo were very accommodating as we could only arrive at their place at 11pm but they were still awake to welcome us in. Their house is very bright, colorful and clean! A lovely place. :)
Everything on the listing was completely accurate! My friend and I enjoyed our stay to the maximum! The bed was super confortable and the neighborhood was easily accessible by car and with the help of navigation! Our hosts are remarkable and very discrete; they have a great home and they made us feel at home from the very first moment, considering our rather late arrival! I highly recommend Paula and Bernardo's private room!
Paula and Bernardo were warm and friendly. The neighborhood is very pleasant and very close to LAX. In fact, just a few blocks west there is a great overlook where you can watch planes takeoff. Go a few blocks further and you're at the beach! It has a great bike path that can take you all the way to Playa del Rey, Venice or even Santa Monica if you have some time. Paula and Bernardo were great hosts! Five stars.
Paula & Bernardo went out of their way to make sure we would be taken care of with an early arrival. We felt right at home and the bed was comfortable. Paula gave us great recommendations for a day of beach combing, and we would definitely return in the future.
About the Host, Paula & Bernardo

We have been living in LA for the last couple of years, although we've done a fair share of traveling throughout South America, the States, Europe, and Japan (planning on expanding this list soon!)
Many times we just stare at the map on the hallway, trying to figure where to jump next. We've hosted and been hosted numerous times and love the opportunity to explore new spaces.
Now we are in a 2 bedroom/1 bathroom apartment in LA, super close to the airport and about a mile from the beach -yay!- We are looking forward to host if you need some down time in between LAX connections, want to chill by the beach, or looking to get to know the city.
