About This Listing
Enjoy Old Mesilla in our enchanting casita, which resides behind our historic adobe home in a quiet and very private, tree-shaded patio garden. It's peaceful, inviting, intimate and perfect for relaxing.
Built in traditional New Mexican adobe-style but with modern comforts, this 850 sq.ft, light-filled studio space has thick hand-plastered adobe walls, saltillo tile floors, wood "viga" ceilings, and Mexican-tile accents.
It has a queen-size bed, duvet bedding (in cooler months), skylights, talavera-tiled bathroom w/shower, fully equipped kitchen, refrigerated air, heating, an eating area, large HDTV w/cable, and Wi-Fi.
Location! Location! Stroll to historic Mesilla Plaza in less than 5 minutes and experience the area's premier visitor's destination, with shopping, Sunday farmers and crafts market, restaurants, bars, art galleries, movies, and much more. This includes one of country's top ranked Mexican restaurants. And we're only a few minutes drive to both the I-10 and I-25 freeways.
From the house you can wander or bike along miles of irrigation ditches, farms and pecan orchards. Nearby outdoor recreational attractions include the Mesilla Valley Bosque State Park along the Rio Grande, our spectacular Organ Mountains Desert Peaks National Monument and the one of a kind White Sands National Monument.
On street parking along a safe and quiet street.
We invite you to enjoy relaxing in the private patio garden.

We strive to be accessible to our guests yet give them the space and privacy they may desire. We welcome you to contact us if you have any questions!
What we love about our neighborhood is the peace and tranquility as well as its proximity to the plaza.
No smoking, please. Quiet hours are usually between 10pm and 6am. One to two people fit comfortably, but will consider a third person if they're ok sleeping on a couch. Please leave items clean and intact. Other than that, enjoy!
Melanie was a great host and her place is incredibly awesome! I wish I'd had more time there. It really is a magical place. Also very affordable! The bed was comfy and the casita was spotless. I was impressed at how well thought out everything was. I want to go back!
Melanie was very kind and friendly. She stayed up late to greet our 11pm arrival, and she made us feel warmly welcome. The casita is really wonderful!! I wish we could have stayed longer. Very comfortable and beautiful, high ceilings, wood beams, tiled bath and well stocked kitchen with great espresso coffee machine which we we had in the morning on the lovely patio. I highly recommend staying at her place!!
Melanie was a fantastic host. She was always very attentive leading up to our trip and made great suggestions for us when we arrived. She greeted us when we arrived and showed us around the space. What a sincere, cool person she is! We admired all the details of the interior design and landscaping all around. It was awesome, to say the least.
Her casita rental, located in the back of her property in a separate building, was absolutely perfect. It was very roomy, clean as can be, and really well thought out from design to items she provided. It had games, tons of great books, snacks, kitchen stuff, lovely soaps and shampoos. And I have to say that the memory foam bed was amazing! Slept very sound in the most comfortable bed, and in a super quiet space! We are going to buy ourselves one of those mattresses when we get back to Austin. We were so very happy, and it was one of the best and most memorable places we've stayed with Airbnb. Big thanks to Melanie!!
I had a great experience staying with Melanie and her husband in their adorable casita. The space itself is large, clean and decorated impeccably. The outside patio is wonderful for relaxing with a glass of wine and enjoying the well cared for garden bursting with flowers and trees of all kinds. The location was a perfect 3 minute walk to the center of old mesilla where all of the shops and best restaurants are. As hosts they made sure we had everything we needed, even stocking the kitchen with fruit and biscotti for breakfast. The space really is magical, a quiet calm oasis in the desert. I highly recommend them to anyone visiting las cruces!
Melanie and her husband were both incredibly welcoming. We really enjoyed them. They struck a nice balance between engaging us and giving us privacy. We had some very interesting conversations with them both. They are intelligent, well-informed, friendly and helpful. The casita is even more lovely than the photos. It is immaculately clean, full of lovely little touches and details. The kitchen was well-stocked and full of all the organic things that we like to eat. The bathroom was well-appointed with good towels and toiletries. The neighborhood was quiet, across the street from a little park. In the morning, I told Melanie that I wanted to take a walk and she suggested a walk along the creek that took me through pecan groves, cattle ranches and adobes. I saw dozens of birds. It was lovely. We were only a 5 minute walk to the Plaza and historic downtown with all its interesting little shops and charming architecture. We had breakfast in the lovely garden courtyard and listened to the sound of birds. The garden is full of flowers and fruit trees. This is a very good value for the money.
Loved my time at Melanie's Charming Adobe Casita. It felt like home when I arrived. The casita is set back off the main house and opens to a beautiful patio garden. The casita has everything you could need. I could not have stayed in a more exquisite place. And it is only blocks from the Mesilla plaza.
