It has a masculine and sophisticated, yet romantic feel.

Pacific Grove has been called “Butterfly Town U.S.A.,” “The Most Romantic City in the U.S.,” “A Dreamy California Destination, ” as well as an idyllic place to get married, to honeymoon or to just hang out. Some of it is self-proclaimed, some the acclaim of people who have actually visited Pacific Grove.
You will find Pacific Grove on the very tip of the scenic, tree-shrouded Monterey Peninsula with a rocky coastline and an ambiance of charm, grace and beauty.
Founded in the 1870s as a Methodist summer retreat, Pacific Grove still bears the look and feel of yesteryear. As you stroll the residential streets admiring the charm of home after home, you will notice little plaques on many of the homes that bear the name of the original owner and the year in which it was built. To qualify for a plaque from the Heritage Society of Pacific Grove, a structure must look like it did when it was originally built.
Among its visitors are brightly colored orange-and-black Monarch butterflies, who overwinter in Pacific Grove after traveling up to 2,000 miles, arriving by the thousands starting in October, peaking around Christmas and departing by March.
Besides its scenic beauty and idyllic neighborhoods, Pacific Grove offers an eclectic downtown experience, with small boutiques, gift shops, art galleries, antique stores and more. Other vibrant shopping areas are along Central Avenue at the entrance to Pacific Grove from Cannery Row and at the top of Forest Avenue on Forest Hill.
The Writer's Studio is centrally located and a short walk from many scenic destinations. It is located a half mile from The Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row, as well as downtown Pacific Grove. Lover's Point beach is just one mile away and downtown Monterey is two miles away.
There are many fantastic restaurants, activities and shops in the area.
Other Things to Note
The city of Pacific Grove requires a 10% city occupancy tax. This will be an additional charge above the listed daily rate and the payment request will be sent separately.
This is a non smoking property.
There is a firm no pet policy.
Thank you Kevin and Vicky for providing such a cozy and comfortable space. Loved my stay and I can't wait to be back!
We could not have picked a better place for our first experience with airbnb. We were drawn initially by the thought of staying in such an historic cottage. Then, from first glance, its setting, unique decor, and comfort took center stage. The hosts have attended to every detail, beyond expectations, to offer what can best be described as an artist's nest. Cozy, peaceful, perfect. Highly recommended. We will be back.
We had a fantastic time at the Writers Studio! Perfectly sized and more than well equipped I would recommend it to anyone. The house is a little tricky to find but it's location couldn't be better. It's just minutes away from the Monterey Aquarium and a couple of minute drive away from Pacific Grove. As it's a historical house, it has the odd creak but this adds to it's charm. All in all, a great stay! We hope to be back soon!
We thoroughly enjoyed Kevin and Vicky's artistic expressions in the Studio which truly took us back to a different era. We especially enjoyed the kitchen, and cooked up delicious fish soup with fresh bits bought from the Old Fisherman's Wharf. Watched both movies Kevin left us, and pondered how Steinbeck could write sad endings staying in such lovely place. Would definitely return to Studio, or the bigger Cottage.
I stayed two nights at the Writer's Studio, and it was a dream come true. Kevin thought of every detail - I felt at home immediately. Close to everything you'd want to do in Pacific Grove, and cozy enough to feel like home right away. I will definitely stay here again!
We were drawn by the historical, unique nature of this property but this cottage turned out to be so much more!
-The Studio was so cozy and decorated with such interesting items.
-Bed was comfortable and the cottage was quiet at night for great sleeping. Loved the
charming, efficient kitchen area decorated
with bright colors and character. FYI: It didn't bother either my husband or me but be
aware that the doorways are somewhat low.
-Great walking location to the Aquarium and Cannery Row.
-Kevin was just a call away for any questions. No big concerns but Kevin was happy to answer any questions-parking, restaurants, hair dryer, hiking in state parks-whatever
it was-he was available and happy to answer.
-Two restaurant recommendations. First Awakenings for breakfast.
Delicious blueberry wheatgerm pancakes!!!!! Tons of breakfast combos.
Monterrey Fish House for dinner. FYI: It is a 10-12 minute drive and is crazy busy with a
line and waiting-even with our reservation BUT we thought it was totally worth it.
We enjoyed their amazing Italian based and grilled seafood.
The Oak grilled oysters were out of this world. -We enjoyed it so much we ate there again on
our second/last night in Pacific Grove. Good
prices, good service, great food. Casual local
-Also recommend hiking at least some of the Point Lobos trails. So beautiful!
Thanks Kevin for a great stay.
We had a great time at the Writer's Studio this weekend. The place is very beautiful and we had a awesome relaxing time. Thanks to Kevin for providing us with all the good and clear information which helped us figure out everything while we were there very easily.
We ate once at Paprika and once at Il Vechhio and both of them were great places to eat. We cooked a little as well. We even got engaged at this place :-)
Thanks again for Kevin's hospitality. We will surely recommend this place to our friends.
