You can easily find "eco bio Agriturismo La Bella Vite - rooms with vineyards" just 3 kms off the tiny village of Carpeneto, amidst Alto Monferrato hills (a thousand of years ago, Monferrato was the first autonomous state in Italy).
The district, covered by vineyards and marked by a lot of castles, has recently been described by a Dutch writer as "an undiscovered beauty": if you appreciate relax and peacefulness you will love it and its countryside dotted with farmhouses, churches and cozy ancient hamlets.
The Agriturismo La Bella Vite itself is fully surrounded by the vineyards of the joined (same owners) Roccodicarpeneto winery, a producer of organic, high quality (docg) wines from native grape varieties. Currently, it has two double rooms, with direct views on vineyards or the large yellow swimming pool: a third double room as well as a couple of tree houses are expected to be added by the end of September 2013.
Staying at La Bella Vite will allow you to discover our passion for hospitality and conviviality, taking the opportunity for a fine immersion in a mostly untouched countryside, and exploiting a full harmony with the pace of nature and seasons.
Dogs are allowed. Both wellness and fitness areas are available.
We (myself, my husband and 4 year old daughter) had an absolutely wonderful stay at La Bella Vite! It really exceeded our expectations in all areas. Paolo and Lidia were fabulous hosts - Paolo spent a lot of time providing us with information on the local area, attractions and places to eat. He even gave us a tour of their winery which was very interesting. The accommodation was beautiful - we stayed in one of the new 'tree-houses' that overlooks the vineyard and we all found the space really worked for us and we had wonderful night sleeps. During the day I would sit out on our patio with glass of wine, look over the vines and listen the the Italian men chatting and working in the vines - bliss! One of my favourite meals was on a night when Lidia cooked for the guests and we had dinner on the property with wine from the winery which was all beautiful. The local area is also very beautiful and we visited a couple of neighbouring towns and had a very interesting tour of an underground winery which produced lovely dry sparkling wines. All and all it was a great trip - Paolo and Lidia made us all feel very welcome. The number of guests is always quite low as I think there are only 5 rooms at the property which gives your stay a lovely relaxed and intimate quality.
Simply put, there are not enough ways to say how wonderful our stay at the Bella Vite Farm and Rocco di Carpento Vineyard was.
Let me begin with the location. For travelers making their way through northern Italy, the surrounding area is beautiful. The venue of the vineyard is even more so; the rustic scenery and rolling hills of the vineyard community are a sight to behold in the summertime. When you finally arrive at the vineyard gates, you can expect to be surprised by the aesthetic mixture of a quaint farm with the modern architecture taste of contemporary wine entrepreneurs. Between the hosts' home, the guest houses, the vineyard-overlooking pool, and the winery itself, one is left with a firsthand observation of authentic Italian countryside-- in style.
The hosts are exceptionally accommodating. Not only are Paulo and Lidia multilingual and eager to engage in conversation with foreigners, but they are readily willing to share their expert knowledge of their grounds, the winemaking process, and general life as vineyard owners to any inquirers. They shared with us all of the luxuries of their property with a surprising degree of trust; there was never a time when we felt unwelcome or imposing. In fact, by the end of the second night of our visit, we determined we would be lucky to be able to return for another stay. They even provided us with a personal tour of their vineyard, winery, and bottling facilities on our final day, with their delicious wines for purchase right off the rack.
We were lucky enough to stay the night during a special evening in which Paulo, a native of Vincenza, and Lidia planned a six-course genuine Vincenzan feast to locals attending one stop on a tour of dinner parties. Their vineyard was specifically selected following their first excellent demonstration to the group some weeks before, and this meal followed up on expectations in full force. The appetizer of fava beans and salami was expertly complimented by a light sparkling white from the Vincenza region. The first course of sardines and toast was followed by a dish of white asparagus and finely diced egg. The hosts displayed their expertise in wine selection with a subtle casualty, pairing the appetizers with a more crisp white again from the Vincenza region. The next courses were primeri of thick Italian noodles and duck sauce followed by a secondi of liver polenta with a hint of onion. During these courses they provided their flagship wine, the Rocco di Carpento Losna, a Dolcetto from the Ovada region. During a desert of traditional apple cake and raisin, we were delighted to learn a piece of trivia; Dolcetto means "slightly sloping vineyard," as opposed to "sweet," as one would expect! Their willingness to provide personal explanation each course in the meal only reinforced their already unparalleled hospitality.
All told, our stay was phenomenal and we were incredibly fortunate to have experienced such a wonderful visit! Highly recommended!
What can I say? I could tell you that this is a horrible place, so nobody goes and we keep it our secret escape. Of course we would never say this, that would not only be completely untrue but also highly unfair to Lidia and Paolo, the most incredible hosts, and to you, a future guest. So, I can only speak in the highest terms of the place, the hosts, including their cute and friendly dogs, their food and the unbelievable wine. Everything is of a very high quality and a result of a real love for the unique region and its products. Paolo gave us a tour of the winery and left us in awe. We also had the chance to see the nearly finished tree houses. Amazing. Please folks don't storm this place, we also want to come back this summer and also beyond. Thank you Lidia & Paolo - you rock!
Incredible. What a experience! Lidia and Paolo are great hosts, the experience was unforgetable, I do recommend this place. I give 5 stars because I cannot give more. If you like winery, you must try this place.
