Newly renovated, light, bright, forest cabin set in 6000m2 of private forest which leads onto the national forest. Sleeps from 1 person in the primary bedroom to 6 people, across all 3 unique bedrooms. Couples, families big and small, groups of friends, and their dogs...everyone loves our fabulous cabin.

The space
Our stunning wooden Gingerbread Huis sleeps 6 guests and a baby in its three double bedrooms.
Sleep under the stars in the quirky 'Nestje' and wake up to tall trees and the big skies of the Veluwe. Gaze out at the garden leading onto the forest from the 'Garden View' bedroom, downstairs. Let your children delve into the toys, games and books whilst you relax in the warm, cosy living room on the large corner sofa enjoying the views all around. Little Shed, offers a separate double bedroom with sink.
Take a stroll through the 20 hectares of woodlands on your doorstep before soaking up the afternoon sun on the patio having a bbq.
The Gingerbread Huis is nestled in 6000m2 of our own woodlands, neighbouring national forest and, according to our kids, a 'totally awesome' natural sandpit, where we climb trees and play hide and seek.
Neighbouring a large golf club, we are just off the quietest, calmest, proper country lane used by horse- drawn carriages, ponies, dog walkers, casual cyclists, and super friendly neighbours.
We have bikes of all sizes, a children's play area with a swing, slide, and a huge trampoline sunk into the forest floor, and the fantastic woods to build dens in, search for bugs and beetles, spot the deer, foxes, rabbits running around, and feed the neighbour's super cute little ponies their favourite juicy apples.
An hour's drive from Amsterdam, 10 minutes from Apeldoorn, so perfectly situated for the Veluwe's attractions.

Guest access
Guests will enjoy a large area of land upon which is the Gingerbread Huis, the front and back gardens, the children's play area, the woods, the bikes and BBQ. Parking is right next to the cabin.

Other things to note
The Gingerbread Huis shares the forest with Maja's Hideaway, our glass fronted cabin which sits deeper into the forest. Both cabins are angled cleverly so not as to disturb each other. Both therefore feel very private.

The dining area will seat 6 people, but it's snug. There's also a highchair under the stairs. There is a large outdoor dining area on the front patio, and a lovely relaxed area on the back patio.

So for a long weekend it's good for 6 guests, for 2 weeks it might feel like too tight a squeeze.

Neighborhood highlights

The Gingerbread Huis is in a wild fairytale woodland at the very edge of the Veluwe. We searched all over The Netherlands to find such a place and this was our dream come true. You really think you are in the middle of nowhere when you are there, but actually you are handily close to villages, Apeldoorn and thus a whole host of tourist activities: Apenheul, Julianatoren, Paleis Het Loo. The Veluwsche steam train stops very close by. For spa/ sauna lovers, then Thermen Bussloo is 10 minutes drive up the road. Beekbergen is home to a whole host of restaurants. And our babysitter will look after your kids if you request ahead.

I spent many years working for Medecins sans Frontieres both in the field and laterly in HQ, Amsterdam. I have two young sons, and it is because of them that we searched for the perfect place for our city kids to experience the freedom to explore nature, build dens, and get really mucky in the woods.. We wanted fresh air, rosy cheeks, good appetites, evenings to ourselves, and full nights sleeps...and to share it with our friends, and now our guests.
