The updated bath was very nice. The surrounding villages are beautiful and we wished that we could have stayed longer to explore. The stairs are quite steep so be cautious if you have little children.

Stayed for one night while passing through the area. It was a good value and convenient.

George always communicated with us swiftly, and his description of the little row house in Mytholmroyd was accurate. The two beds in the house were comfortable, there were plenty of sheets and towels, and the bath lovely. The kitchen had everything we needed, and it was nice that George had left plenty of tea, etc. As one reviewer noted, the stairs are quite steep, so older visitors could find the ups and downs a bit difficult: our two teenage children were fine. When reviewing the holiday, my 17-yr old said the house was, for him, the highlight! If you prefer rentals that feel like a hotel room, with a minimum of furnishings and empty drawers and cupboards, this place might not be for you. It was more like staying in the house of an old friend, with food in the cupboards, and clothes in the closet. For us, it felt homey and comfortable. We are from Portland, Oregon and were visiting family in Brighouse, so the location was excellent for us. But this IS a good vacation spot for anyone. Here are some of the things we were able to do: visit the birthplace of former poet laureate Ted Hughes in Mytholmroyd, and his former wife and poet Sylvia Plath is buried not far away in a lovely churchyard. Go to the football (soccer) museum and the "Museum of People's History" in Manchester (quick train trip with station right near George's house), go to a Rugby League game in Huddersfield, visit the Thackray medical museum and do sightseeing and shopping in Leeds, a "Brontë" day of visiting the parsonage and walking to the waterfall, nice walks and relaxing tea at picturesque Hebden Bridge, and a visit to Saltair, a "model mill village" created in the 19th C by Titus Salt. The mill itself now houses the largest David Hockney art collection in the world, has an exhibit about Salt and his mill, and has great shops and places to eat. George's home was a cozy base to explore from and I was surprised at how much there was to do in the area. Lots of nice pubs, tea shops and cafes in the area and a nice Sainsbury walking distance from his place. Nice neighbors, too. Everyone was very friendly.

Overall a lovely stay. Could have been a little tidier for the luxurious description.

This is a beautiful home in a wonderful area of the country. The house is v clean and is extremely comfortable. We only stayed for a night, but its the sort of place you could be happy in for several days. It would make an excellent writers retreat if you were trying to write a novel. There are many nice touches such as the cinema room downstairs and an operating fire place. The house is well located for many great walks and all the nice stuff in Hebden Bridge. George was an excellent host- recommended

We had a great weekend staying at George's. He has a lovely house, which he has done up extremely well - my 15 year old daughter loved sleeping in the top floor bedroom and (of course) loved the basement cinema room. Thoroughly recommend as stay here.

We loved our stay at George's place in Mytholmroyd. There is loads of space for 4 people and a great kitchen for self catering. The location is a classic West Yorkshire street with views of the surrounding moorland. Plus you're 5 mins from the train station or canal to use as the starting point for exploring. Check out George's eating out recommendations in his folder as the ones we tried were great!
