Check In
  • The reservation went smoothly and host was compliant and thoughtful. The neighborhood is outstanding, and it's terrifically located. The internet went in and out (could have been a result of rainy weather) and I do agree with a previous poster that the rugs could use a cleaning, but I enjoyed my stay and would certainly consider renting the apartment again.

  • They were very nice and the apt was perfect for what we were looking for. Her boyfriend even drove me to my first interview on my first day I'm Chicago.

  • We had a great time in Chicago! Tira and Will's apartment is in a perfect location, tucked just off of a main stretch, but on a mostly quiet little street. Everything was a very short walk away, and we used the bus and train to get around entirely. The building seemed very secure. It is a small studio apartment, but it has a bed, fridge, stove, microwave, toaster, and oven, which was perfect. Will was very communicative, and flexible with check-in time based on our flight. Overall, a great first experience using Airbnb. Thanks!

  • Overall I did not like this apartment - yes it is in a good area - and it was ok as a place to sleep but it needed a good clean, the carpets need a steam clean, new mattress (it was 12 years old*), new sheets - they were pilled (certainly not NICE sheets as per ad), laundry services had to be paid for (not mentioned), cheap towels, dirty cupboards, nothing to dry the crockery with, one wine glass, dirty crockery - they insisted that it be left as clean as I found it - that didn't take much and I probably left it cleaner. The television had about 5 stations that worked. Most said no signal. Yes it has a pool downstairs, the fridge worked, the microwave worked as did the slow internet. The shower needs a clean (black hairs to meet me when I am a red head were disconcerting) and the tap fixed as there was more water coming from the lower tap nearly than the shower head. Enough soap to last a day - I stayed 10 and had to buy my own. The bathroom and shower need a good scrub. The main picture on the advert should be of the area, or the apartment, and not the rivers that are 5 miles away. The advert mentions a *luxury spare bed if needed? - well why not supply a luxury main bed instead? Overall it did not equal the advertisement and I was disappointed. The rules mentioned not stealing there alcohol - really?? 1. Why would you leave it there anyway and 2 what sort of people steal alcohol from an AirBNB place. After having stayed in numerous hotels around the world I found the House Rules appeared to be aimed at teenagers and not an adult. Yes they mention that they are happy to help - but I thought asking for a new bed was probably not going to work or have the apartment properly cleaned. Or could I have new sheets, soap that might last more than a day or 2 - overall I found it tight, stingy and worth about $50.00 a night and not the the nearly $100 I paid. I loved Chicago and had a wonderful time - the apartment was the only let down for me. The advert now mentions eggs, orange juice etc - I got a jug of water. I never heard from or saw Will once I was in and never laid eyes on Tira? Communication was OK, but a continual insistence on whether I had read the house rules (asked 4 times) - which I did 5 times thinking I had missed something, no assistance with getting to the place, tips etc. Curt responses to questions asked and not very friendly. Sorry but as you can see for a first time AIR BNB experience it left me wanting. I am also perplexed by the other reviews because I feel like I went to a different apartment....

    Response from Tira:

Your right! We are in a great location! There are so many things to do nearby us. LOTS of restaurants and bars! :)

Our apartment is always cleaned very well before every guest ;) If you had some issue with something being not up to your standards you had our phone number and email and could of contacted us at any time and we would of been more than happy to come back and have a look at what you were talking about. You were asked at check in if you were happy and you had commented that everything was great. *we are a bit confused*

Sorry you didn't like our bed. We purchased it last year and have receipts of proof of that. Our sheets are also new along with towels. ;) Our TV does work and we have all Chicago Local Channels. If you needed help to figure out how to use the television you could of asked :) We don't have any other guests mentioning. your issues and have had over 3000 reservations over the past 3 years!

Most Hotels will be $200 - $400 per night and more In Chicago! :) Most of our guests stay with us to save money! We are always able to provide a deal compared to hotel prices and also offer the ability to prepare your own meals by utilizing our kitchen.

Sorry if you think what you paid was too much. $100 per night might seem a bit expensive in Australia but in the (Chicago, IL) hotel prices get pretty expensive since we are such a big successfully city!

In the future we recommend that you learn to communicate better, your future experiences may improve if you do so ;) We mentioned to you at check in that help was a phone call away. Our photos and description is accurate and we are always available to assist in any way when a guest actually contacts us with their concerns! ;)

  • I did not interact with the listed host directly, but rather two other gentlemen that were managing the rental. That said, they were courteous and provided anything I needed for my stay. The apartment was good enough for my stay, but it is in need of a little remodeling to make it really sing. The neighborhood was great though! Plenty of shops, restaurants, even a Trader Joe's to do some real grocery shopping! The walk to the CTA isn't terrible, but I highly recommend getting a Divvy bike pass since there is a rack on the corner near the apartment, and one at almost every CTA stop. Wrigley field is also a short bike ride north of the apartment which was cool. Overall I enjoyed my stay and was happy with the price and service I received.

  • Tire was very helpful and hospitable. The listing was exactly as advertised, we had a very lovely weekend. The neighbor hood was great (walking distance to plenty of bars and restaurants and Wrigley). I would recommend this listing to others

  • Tira's place was not bad at all. It is 10 min away from the nearest subway station and once there, it takes about 15 min to get to the Loop. The place is pretty much as shown in the pictures, although it was not as clean. I was traveling with my mother and sister and that is not a place no stay with your family. It was rather a place to stay for a couple of days with friends if you do not demand cleanliness.
We never got to meet Tira, but Will was quite helpful at the beginning and offered himself to help us out with any problem we could have.

  • Tira's (and Will's) place worked out great for me. It's in a great neighborhood right by some great restaurants, an awesome record store and a moderately easy walk to Wrigley Field. Transportation isn't difficult around there as you can walk to a nearby bus stop and L train and cabs are easy to hail just down the street. The apartment is on the smaller side but otherwise has everything you'd need, and Will made it clear that it will be your place for your stay.

  • Tira and Will were wonderful! A friend and I stayed here in March 2014 and we had no complaints. It was our first experience with Airbnb and we could not have asked for better hosts. They were very accommodating and helpful in answering any questions that came up throughout the process almost as soon as I had asked them via e-mail or text. The apartment looks a little small from the pictures, but it turned out to be surprisingly spacious once we got there and had everything we could have needed during our stay. The neighborhood is quiet and relaxing with bars, restaurants, stores, and public transportation very nearby and all very easy to use. I would highly recommend working with Tira and Will and would definitely look them up again the next time I visit Chicago!!
