If you're looking for a no frills local and authentic experience, this is your spot. Reiz and Si were great guides, cooks & hosts. They treated us so kindly like family. Francesco was a pleasure to communicate with. It is a remote and dreamy place and we wished we could of stayed…

Thank you for all the feedback Derin!! I'll definitely consider the P-trap in the toilet. As far as the food is concerned, I cannot do anything about the pricing for two reasons: Ryas, SI and their family decide when and if to cook according to the availability of local stuff over aquaintancies network, so they get everything very fresh and tasty, often organic, but they contract in the suk's way according to unpredictable factors. I have nothing to do with the cooking, and I find it nicer to have an unpredictable family dinner, or to cook myself instead of having a standard menu like you find in a touristy restaurant / hotel. Wish you a good follow up of your trip!

We really enjoyed our stay. Extending our stay 3 times from 7 to 20 nights says it all. Loved being so close to whiskey point and away from the busyness of the town centre. Was a peaceful holiday. Excellent food cooked for us every day. We lived having the kitchenette to use to m…

Hi Nikki, were the check in instructions not clear enough about the need to call SI by phone the day before arrival? How could I improve them?

Stunning location and very helpful host. A short beach walk to the great surfspot Whiskey Point. Pottuvil Point is about 10 min away. Lovely, cheap, off the track and with an eco-friendly approach. What else can you ask for?

It was a good stay in an absolutely amazing area! Very close to the beach! The cabana was simple but good for the price. We are sorry to say that, but the bathroom was not quite hygienic. There would be more potential, to make it even more perfect. SI and the other guys around th…

About the Tuk tuk drives and S.I.: a Tuk tuk ride from Arugam Bay to whiskey point costs 1400 LKR one way, as far as I know according to the standard price of the Tuk Tuk Drivers Association. Every honest licensed driver (including S.I.) will show the price list when asked. Tuk Tuk riding is not cheap: gasoline is not cheap and the Tuk Tuk break down beyond repairs every three years when used often off road like in the area. Since S.I. takes care of check ins and check outs, he has to travel to the place, with no gain at all but incurring all the travel and opportunity costs just to check in and check out my guests (who help me cover maintenance costs but I do not make profits either), it makes sense that he drives the guests to the place from Pottuvil, Arugam Bay or another city within Tuk Tuk range, so he has the opportunity to know a potential customer. If you come with another Tuk Tuk you still pay 1400 LKR to the other driver, and S.I. incurs in all the costs for nothing; moreover you burn in total twice the gasoline, which makes the climate and me angry ;-) . Please let your first and last travel be with S.I. as it will not cost you more.

Beautiful place, amazing view and pure calm. 9km from Pottuvil, so if you want to go to the town you have to call a tuktuk, walk a few kilometers to the main road to take the bus, or just walk along the beach. If you are traveling on a budget, bring your own food and ask Riaz to …

Response from Francesco:
Hi Nahuel, you are complaining here about stuff 2 weeks after you left the place, instead of right away. Moreover, this pricing issue is everywhere in Sri Lanka: first asking is a good rule. Tuk Tuks prices are regulated by the drivers association and every driver has the table. One ride to Pottuvil and back costs the same if it is with people or stuff, and consider the wear on the Tuk Tuk because offroad driving and that fuel costs in Sri Lanka as much as in Europe. Riding around in Tuk Tuks is one of the most expensive things you can do; sourcing food from the locals and bargain as the local customs, in particular among muslims is far more efficient. Of course you can use the kitchen cook and clean yourself, which is the standard way of renting a holiday home. If you ask Ryas to cook and clean for you, just agree between you two before instead of complaining later. The cleaning fee is for a normal cleaning: if there is some time lapse after the last guest and it is windy, some leaves fall from the roof into the toilet and have to be cleaned again: this is more quickly done by asking Ryas than going through the resolution centre. S.I. number is in the booking confirmation email, at the link you did not open with all the instructions. Without reading the instructions I understand you had a difficult time.
