The space
Cozy cabin, full bedroom with queen bed and living room with comfortable pull out couch. Full bathroom with shower and a kitchen. Private tennis court for you to enjoy. Rackets and balls available for your use. Private sandy beach great for kids on a beautiful 3-mile long spring fed lake in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains.

Two kayaks, a canoe, and a paddle board available for our guests. Two mountain bikes also available. Hiking, fishing, wildlife viewing, wireless internet. Pick wild blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries within walking distance from the cabin. Visit a mountain spring right down the road for the most delicious water you have ever tasted. Climb nearby Crusher and Loon Lake Mountains or bushwhack up Lookout Mountain right behind us - if you are really adventurous :- )

See an unbelievably clear view of the Milky Way with planets, satellites, and shooting stars at night. Hear loons calling when you are falling asleep in the cabin. 40 minute drive to Lake Placid.

Neighborhood highlights

Loon Lake was was a very popular destination of "well-heeled" folks during the late 19th and early 20th centuries featuring the exquisite and prominant Loon Lake Hotel. The beautiful lake and luxury hotel attracted many public figures of the period including Presidents Grover Cleveland, Benjamin Harrison, and William McKinley. Wealthy families including the Vanderbilts, Whitneys, Rothschilds, Rockefellers, and Guggenheims regularly stayed at the hotel. Additionally, popular cultural figures, such as composers Irving Berlin and George Gershwin, and authors Theodore Dreiser, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and Oscar Wilde vacationed in Loon Lake.

The hotel burned down in 1956 - some remains including the main steps going down to the lake can still be seen. Amazingly, we still find a 100 year old plate or a round-bottomed bottle from the old hotel in the lake once in a while. Fun to look for when you are kayaking!

Loon Lake is now a very quiet community with lots of natural beauty and wildlife.
