If you are in need of a quick place to crash in downtown Portland, we have a futon and a couch in our living room. Each can sleep two people.
We are on an upper floor of a 16 story (locked) building. We will give you a set of keys to get in and out as you please. There is a rooftop terrace with an awesome view of the city, a small garden, lawn chairs to relax in, and a smoking area. Great place to take pictures. There is also a lounge area on the 2nd floor with a ping pong table, vending machines, free wifi, and an outdoor patio. We don't have our own parking so you would need to use street parking or there is a paid covered lot next to the building. However, we do have a garage area to lock up bikes.
Amenities include assorted blankets and pillows, clean towels, bathroom, shower, well equipped kitchen, (includes pots, pans, plenty of cooking utensils, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, etc.) hair dryer, hair curler, printer, flatscreen, our own secure internet wifi, and a computer that you may use if you don't have one. Laundry in the building is $2.75 a load.
We are located in China Town/Old Town, right next to the Union Station/Greyhound Station, each of the MAX lines, and many bus routes. Our location is within walking distance of the waterfront, city center/Pioneer Square, Voodoo Donuts, Saturday/Sunday Market, Whole Foods, Powell's Books, Stumptown Coffee Roasters, Roseland Theater, Ground Kontrol Classic Arcade, Rockbottom Brewery, Moda Center, Memorial Coliseum, and many other awesome Portland favorites. If you don't want to walk it's just a few easy stops with transit. (Trimet tickets are accepted universally among all the transit systems!)
In downtown portland, there are plenty of great restaurants in our immediate area. Urban night life in this area of town is "HOPPING" if that is something you're interested in.
We do have two cats (short hair & a medium length hair), so any who hates cats or has extreme allergies beware. Ben is actually a bit allergic to cats and seems to have few issues with them. They are both very friendly, cuddly, and love getting to know visitors.
Knowing travelers often fall within a wide range of circumstances, if you need plenty of privacy that is absolutely fine with us. We are flexible and happy to make accommodations to meet our guests needs. There is no set check in or check out time, it just depends on when you are arriving and when we are home. If we have other guests checking in or out, check out time is usually between 11am-noon and check in time is 1pm or after. Generally, we can make whenever is convenient for you work. Whoever reserves first gets the dates, and when you reserve please let us know what time you'll be arriving. If you have any questions/requests, feel free to send us a message.
As for us, we are college students in our early twenties. We tend to be very laid back and enjoy staying up and sleeping in late. However, we do sometimes get up early for school or work. We are open minded, adventurous, and also Oregon medical marijuana patients. We can be a tad disorganized but try to keep it nice when we have guests. We often cook and bake, and you are welcome to grab a plate and join us when we do.
Kari and Ben were very welcoming, and their 2 kittens were super friendly! Perfect base to explore downtown Portland and was super close to transport. Privacy is limited as the space is in the living room.
Kari and Ben were nice hosts! The location was perfect to downtown Portland.
Thank you Kari & Ben for letting us stay at your lovely apartment. K&B are very nice and easygoing hosts. They have two adorable cats.
Cool and responsive hosts. Thanks, Kari and Ben, for my first Airbnb experience. The apartment is warm! Seeing the changing morning light from the window was a treat. Affordable stay for my purpose - one night crash in the middle of the city, just several blocks away from Powells' books. There is a rooftop at the apartment with 270-degree view of the city - as far as the snowcapped mountains.
Kari and Ben are nice host.
Great location to downtown Portland.
They have a cute cat.
Kari and Ben were great hosts! They made you feel comfortable and at home immediately. They provided you with everything you needed and made my experience in Portland a pleasant one. Highly, highly recommend Ben and Kari if your looking for a welcoming and conveniently placed lodging.
Kari & Ben were amazing hosts! They made everything very convenient and cozy for us and I wish we had had more time to get to know them better. The location is perfect for exploring the city and literally 5 minutes away on foot from the Amtrak station. And we will all greatly miss their adorable cat, Specter:)
The reservation was canceled 10 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
There isn't much to add that can't be gleaned by reading the other reviews. The most relevant thing I can say is to understand Ben and Kari are engaging, sensitive, and open minded people. They are in tune with their guests and are quite willing to adjust thmselves to align with your needs. The lodging environs are what they are...but the unforgettable social interaction and their genuine interest in yourcomfort far outshine anything else and ccompletey make up for any shortcomings. If you are willing to embrace them for the pure and unbridled individuals that they are first and foremost, you will have an exquisite lodging experience. And the price and location are choice :)
Great location to downtown Portland. Ben and Kari are both accommodating and flexible which was really helpful during our stay. Thanks for the bed!
