The Old Homestead is 1.6 miles from Berkeley Springs, the State Park, spas, shops, and restaurants. The house is set in a large shaded area above two ponds and rolling fields with a view of Sleepy Creek Mountain. It was built around 1800 on 123 Acres obtained through a land grant signed by James Monroe (copy in kitchen). Additions were made in 1850.
