About this listing
Comfortable guestroom w/queen size bed; great location 2 mins walking distance from Harvard College across the street from law school. 20 mins by T to Boston; wifi, towels & more- during the fall and winter a responsible caretaker in charge of home
Come stay with us! We are a hospitable couple originally from the South with an 2.5 year son and new baby girl. We enjoy AirBnB as way to connect with new people. We would be pleased to make your acquaintance, be your helpful local guides and your home away from home. We are an ideal fit for easy-going folks who want a great location, comfy bed, and warm hearts.
All guests are very welcome. Hablamos español (los dos). Parlo italiano (Landon, ma Amanda capisce). Je parle français (Landon).
During Fall and Winter 2015, we will have a responsible and serious caretaker for our home, who will be your primary host. His name is Kristof, a MD/PHD student at Harvard and a church friend. Kristof speaks English Polish, and some Spanish and French.
We are located across the street from Harvard Law School and Leslie University Doble Campus. We are two minutes walking distance from Harvard College, less than 10 minutes or 0.5 mile/0.8km walk to two T stops (Porter Square and Harvard Square) and approximately 20 minutes by the T to central Boston. We are 0.2 miles away from the Harvard-Radcliffe Quad Annex. We are 15 to 20 minutes away from Kendall Square/MIT by public transit (bus and metro).
The neighborhood is beautiful, safe and very close to the Cambridge Commons, the city's most well known park. There are MANY nice places to eat, shop or visit around the area (about which we will give you plenty of information). The Charles River is less than a half mile away and is a beautiful place along which to walk or run.
The well-decorated guestroom includes a comfortable and spacious queen size bed with high thread count sheets, nightstand with white noise machine, a desk, chest of drawers, and closet.
We comfortably fit one person.
The guestroom's windows are at street level so there is some residential noise, though in general the neighborhood is quiet. We do provide a white noise machine and earplugs for all guests. Most guests have had no issue with street noise.
We have a modestly sized basement apartment. We also offer guests a comfy and tidy living room space to share and ample kitchen in which you are welcome to store food in the fridge.
Our home is your home.
Wifi, heat, A/C, fresh guest towels (bath and washcloths), fresh sheets, guest hairdryer, extra linens, iron, shared full bath, hygiene supplies upon request, washer/dryer on site.
Guests have access to every room in the house except our bedroom. We share the living room, kitchen area and bathroom. Guests are allowed to store food in the fridge and freezer, but they do not cook in kitchen except with the microwave, toaster and hot water kettle.
Guest, of course, have access at all times to wifi and fresh towels.
Interaction with Guests
The most important of the airbnb experience is the host-guest relationship. We love meeting all the interesting folks that come to our abode! Open, warm, generous and flexible is how we love to treat our guests, and we hope for similar regard for us.
In the fall and winter of 2015, we won't see you as we are out-of-town with family. Kristof will see you, but he is very busy and quiet with the schedule of Harvard MD/PhD.
The neighborhood is well-balanced. We are close to the action near Harvard and Boston but area itself is low-key. Cool restaurants and great people-watching cafes are a stone's throw away. Ice skating and farmer market occupy the same space in different seasons. There are two live-music lounges within 0.25 miles of our home. We are close to the Charles River and Cambridge Commons which makes for excellent idyllic walks and explorations.
Guests looking for off-the-beaten path attractions in Cambridge should definitely visit the Longfellow House. There are always interesting talks and lecture opportunities especially at the Harvard Bookstore. For active types, kayaking, canoeing and upright paddle surfing is close by. In addition, a walk or Hubway bike ride from our home to downtown Boston along the Charles River is a must (5 miles to Faneuil Hall).
Public transit is very convenient. The best way to get around is by foot. Cambridge is one of the most walkable cities in the United States. If you are so inclined to bicycle, we live very close to Hubway bicycle rack which allows shared and public bike rentals across the Boston area.
In addition to living very close to Harvard and Porter Square T stops, we are in the centrally located near many bus stops that go throughout the Boston area. A taxi stand is less than 0.4 miles away too.
Guests typically get here from Logan Airport via the Silver Line Bus switching at South Station to Red Line T stopping at Harvard Square. Public transit from airport with this method is free!

About the Host, Landon
I am a primary care physician specializing in internal medicine. I have been married to Amanda, my college sweetheart, for six years, and together we have an 2.5 year old son and a little girl born in July. I love to hike, kayak, run, read, write and travel.
I have a strong interest in bioethics, philosophy, theology, history, direct primary care and homesteading. I'm writing a book on El Camino de Santiago.
I have lived in North Carolina, Texas, Guatemala, New York City, Belgium, Netherlands and Italy. I speak Spanish, French and Italian. Amanda speaks Spanish and understands French and Italian.
Spain and the US National Parks hold a special place in my heart. The last place I went internationally was Guatemala; domestically, Pittsburgh, Baton Rouge, and Wichita, KS.
As a guest, I am very clean, warm and responsible. I like to leave a place better than I found it.
As hosts, my wife and I enjoy sharing our knowledge of the Boston/Cambridge area and being truly hospitable with our home. Being apart of Airbnb is not a business for us but a conduit for building new relationships and community.
My life motto is "Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum!"
In fall and winter 2015, we will have a caretaker for our home because we are out-of-town with family back down South. His name is Krzysztof. Hailing originally from Poland and Maryland, we met him through church. He is a quiet, responsible fellow and very mature beyond his youth. He is also a certified EMT, an avid rower and polyglot (Polish, English and Spanish). We are glad to share our home with him while he pursues his MD/Phd at Harvard.
