The Space

Come stay with us! We are a hospitable couple originally from the South with an adorable 16 month old baby. We enjoy AirBnB as way to connect with new people. We would be pleased to make your acquaintance, be your helpful local guides and your home away from home. We are an ideal fit for easy-going folks who want a great location, comfy bed, and warm hearts.

All guests are very welcome. Hablamos español (los dos). Parlo italiano (Landon, ma Amanda capisce). Je parle français (Landon).

Great location
We are two minutes walking distance from Harvard College, less than 10 minutes or 0.5 mile/0.8km walk to two T stops (Porter Square and Harvard Square) and approximately 20 minutes by the T to central Boston. We are .25 miles away from the Harvard Radcliffe Annex. We are located across the street from Harvard Law School. and Leslie University Doble Campus. We are 15 to 20 minutes away from Kendall Square/MIT by public transit (bus and metro).

Moreover, the neighborhood is beautiful, safe and very close to the Cambridge Commons, the city's most well known park. There are MANY nice places to eat, shop or visit around the area (about which we will give you plenty of information). The Charles River is less than a half mile away and is a beautiful place along which to walk or run.

Cozy Accommodations
The well-decorated guestroom includes a comfortable and spacious queen size bed with high thread count sheets, nightstand with white noise machine, a desk, chest of drawers, and closet.

We comfortably fit one person.

The guestroom's windows are at street level so there is some residential noise, though in general the neighborhood is quiet. We do provide a white noise machine and earplugs for all guests. Most guests have had no issue with street noise.

We have a modestly sized basement apartment. We also offer guests a comfy and tidy living room space to share and ample kitchen in which you are welcome to store food in the fridge. We invite you to dine with us whenever we are eating dinner around 7pm-8pm.

Our home is your home.
BREAKFAST INCLUDED, wifi, heat, a/c, fresh guest towels (bath and washcloths), guest hairdryer, extra linens, shared full bath with adjustable shower head, hygiene supplies upon request, washer/dryer on site, visitor's parking permit for Cambridge.

Guest Access

Guests have access to every room in the house except our bedroom. We share the living room, kitchen area and bathroom. Guests are allowed to store food in the fridge, and we prefer that guest do not cook in kitchen except on a case-by-case basis.

Guest, of course, have access at all times to wifi and fresh towels.

Interaction with Guests

The most important of the airbnb experience is the host-guest relationship. We love meeting all the interesting folks that come to our abode! Open, warm, generous and flexible is how we love to treat our guests, and we hope for similar regard for us.

We see guests almost every morning at the very least. Amanda prepares breakfast for guests as well as typically eating with them. Most nights a week, we have homemade family supper in the apartment. Guests are always invited to dine with us at their convenience and pleasure. We are out and about during the day. Our budding toddler is always palling around.

The Neighborhood

The neighborhood is well-balanced. We are close to the action near Harvard and Boston but area itself is very accommodating. Cool restaurants and great people-watching cafes are a stone's throw away. Ice skating and farmer market occupy the same space in different seasons. There are two live-music lounges within 0.25 miles of our home. We are close to the Charles River and Cambridge Commons which makes for excellent idyllic walks and explorations.

Guests looking for off-the-beaten path attractions in Cambridge definitely visit the Longfellow House. There are always interesting talks and lecture opportunities especially at the Harvard Bookstore. For active types, kayaking, canoeing and upright paddle surfing is closely. In addition, a walk or Hubway bike ride from our home to downtown Boston along the Charles River is a must (5 miles to Faneuil Hall).

Getting around

Public transit is very convenient. The best way to get around is by foot. Cambridge is one of the most walkable cities in the United States. If you are so inclined to bicycle, we live very close to Hubway bicycle rake with allows shared and public bike rentals across Boston area.

In addition to living very close to Harvard and Porter Square T stops, we are in the centrally located near many bus stops that go throughout the Boston area. A taxi stand is less than 0.4 miles away too.

Parking is nearby in the neighborhood on residential streets. We are happy to lend our visitor's parking permit to our guests.

Guests typically get here from Logan Airport via the Silver Line Bus switching at South Station to Red Line T stopping at Harvard Square. Public transit from airport with this method is free!

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Ideal location for visiting the law school and very wonderful, compassionate hosts! Their little boy is precious and it was a bonus to have his laughter and sweet spirit around the house. Guests are invited to join the family for delicious, healthy breakfasts and multi-course dinners -- the food is only matched by the quality of the company. Landon and Amanda are thoughtful, intelligent, and open-minded. Extremely good value and lovely company -- highly, highly recommended!

  • Landon and Amanda couldn't have been more gracious and accommodating. I have been an airbnb host for six months and was eager to try being a guest for a change. They are much more seasoned hosts, and it really shows in the ways they have every detail down: the transitions, the delicious (and healthful!) breakfast, thoughtful inquiries and provisions. Wish I could have stayed much longer but that will have to wait til my next trip to the Boston/Cambridge area.

  • Amanda, Ben & Landon were very welcoming. Their apartment is just below street level but gets plenty of light and fresh air. I thought the street noise from Mass Ave might be a problem, but it certainly wasn't when I visited. Amanda & Ben greeted me on arrival and answered all questions. (Well, Amanda did; Ben was more interested in exploring.) The location is super convenient to Harvard Square, Harvard Law School, HGSE and Harvard Yard--really good value for this convenience.

  • Very positive experience staying with Landon and his family. They made my breakfast to order, helped with directions to the places I needed to go and had great restaurant and pub recommendations. I would definitely stay here again.

  • Amanda and Landon (and Benny!) were great hosts. I only stayed one night, but enjoyed the warm welcome, comfy bed and delicious breakfast. Would definitely return! Thanks, Amanda and Landon!

  • I really enjoyed my stay with the Roussel family. They were very welcoming and treated me like family. Their home was very comfortable and I enjoyed the lively conversation over food - yes, I was pleasantly surprised and greatly appreciated the home cooked meals. Both Landon and Amanda offered great guidance to navigate Cambridge during my stay. And their young child was adorable. I would definitely visit the Roussel family in future trips to Cambridge as any good friend would.

  • Amanda and Landon were lovely hosts. I felt welcomed the moment I walked through the door. They were very communicative and always offered valuable advice of how to get around in Cambridge and what to see next. Their little boy is very charming and friendly. They are fun to hang out with and their breakfast was delicious. Although the general atmosphere was familial, they always respected my privacy. I highly recommend them for future stays in the area of Boston. It has been a real pleasure!

  • I had a wonderful time staying here. I didn't get to see Landon much, but Amanda was delightful. My biggest piece of advice is that if you stay here, make an effort to take advantage of their breakfast! My schedule prevented me from ever doing so, but they left me a truly magnificent spread the first morning that I was sad to have to miss. Aside from that though, the room is nice and the location is hard to beat. Five out of five would stay again.

  • The place and the Roussels were awesome! This was my second ever AirBNB experience, and I now totally get why people love this. I was coming in for a conference at Harvard Law School -- in early on a red-eye, and out early the next day. I just wanted something friendly, simple, and uncomplicated -- and I ended up getting all of that and more. Amanda met me at the Harvard Square Starbucks really early with Benny (who was super cute but on the verge of sleeping), and walked me to their apartment and showed me the ropes. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable (exactly what you need post red-eye). They have everything you can possibly need and more, including a machine that cancels out ambient sound (I didn't know such a thing existed!), earphones, like a dozen pillows, towels, blankets, etc. I didn't get the chance to have breakfast with them, which is a shame. The place was also optimized for guests: there were labels for literally everything, including the wifi password, which was much appreciated. Amanda called me the evening before to work out some details, which was also really nice -- the kind of human touch you don't get at a hotel. If I get the chance, I hope to stay with them again -- but this time to really get the opportunity to meet these wonderful people!

I am a physician in internal medicine with a beautiful wife and an adorable 16 month old boy. I love to hike, run, read, write and travel. I have a strong interest in bioethics, philosophy, theology, history, frozen yogurt and coffee. I love learning new languages - I speak Spanish, French and Italian. We recently have most recently traveled to the Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Greece although Spain and the US National Parks hold a special place in my heart. As a guest, I am very clean, warm and responsible. As hosts, my wife and I enjoy sharing our knowledge of the Boston/Cambridge area and being truly hospitable with our home. Being apart of Airbnb is not a business for us but a conduit for building new relationships and community.
