Get involved in French village life in a completely restored little forge right in the heart of the old quarter of Agde 4km from lovely Mediterranean beaches. You'll be just a few steps from the old town's promenade and the weekly market with its amazing bargains and fabulous food. The lovely family beach at Grau d'Agde is only 4km away, an easy pedal along the cycle paths of the River Herault which runs down the sea from the village. The Canal du Midi is just a step away and the resort of Cap d'Agde and the naturist quarter - the biggest in Europe is just 5 km. The area is lovely to visit in the cooler months as well. There are wonderful walking tracks in the Haute languedoc. You can tour the local wineries, go horse riding or visit some of the marvellous historic sites within easy reach. The fascinating cities of Nimes, Montpellier and Toulouse are great day trips, and Barcelona is only 3 hours by car. A great place to experience the real France without the crowds.
We spent 8 great days in this lovely little house in the heart of the medieval town. It has everything for a comfortable stay and a full-equipped kitchen, which was important - an opportunity to cook using local fresh vegetables and fish. When it was hot in a daytime, the house was perfect for siesta. It has a tiny own garden. And it’s a perfect place to explore the historic town of Agde. Joanne as a host was very friendly and helpful.
Dejlig hyggelig lejlighed, der ligger meget centralt. Johanne var der og tog imod os, samtidig fortalte hun os hvor vi kunne parkere, købe ind, strand, o.s.v. En rigtig god oplevelse.
The place is absolutely perfect! It's in the middle of Agde and Joanna was so lovely and showed us the beaches where to go and good places to eat, she had all the maps for us. The Forge itself is lovely and we had plenty of space with the bedroom upstairs and the sofa bed downstairs, we had our 18 month son with us as well, who most enjoyed the stair. It's a bit of a trek to the beaches but easy reach with car and bike. And Agde itself is a lovely city with the riverside restaurants and little winding streets.Tourist office near by offers plenty of ideas what to do and where to go.
Definitely will be going back next year!
I am a New Zealander living in France and renovating an old Barn. I spend a lot of time in London visiting my sons and grandchildren but love the weather and being near the beach here in Agde
