Stay in a modern villa, less than five minutes walk to the beach. You will stay in the downstairs private guest suite, bedroom, and adjoining bathroom with shower and toilet. Modern kitchen is upstairs.
It's 15 minutes drive from Coolangatta Airport (The Gold Coast airport).
I usually like to host women travelers only, however males will be considered on their previous reviews and recommendations on AirBnB website. International guests are very welcome, especially from Indonesia, because I speak some Indonesian language and know your country well.
The bedroom has a very comfortable single bed, (also roll-out bed with foam mattress on wooden slats, for second guest (add $20 per night). There is a fan . No air-conditioning, - in this climate, it's not necessary.
Towels and bed linen supplied.
Complimentary WI FI access.
Flat screen TV: (local TV not available). However, you may borrow from an extensive DVD library.. (This is the home of a film-buff and frequently published writer on cinema.)
You may use the laundry, and clothes lines and access the kitchen (upstairs).
There are two private courtyards with table/chair/ sun umbrella for relaxing/reading and dining, adjoining your downstairs area.
There's also a spa bathroom which you may arrange to use for a small extra fee. (We have to pay for water by the litre in this town.)
A few minutes walk from the Villa there are around seven reasonably priced food places, where you can get Thai food, Indonesian food, Pizza, gourmet fish and chips. Also very close-by, a quality restaurant/coffee shop, a McDonald's, a general-store, chemist, hairdresser, wine/beer stores. A little five minute drive to 2 Japanese restaurants in Palm Beach, Chinese, and other options for food. Many more in Burleigh Heads, 5 minutes to the north by car.
Palm Beach is great for long walks, watching the full moon rise, and swims or reading and lounging in the sun. If you have a surfboard, beach breaks are sometimes good. I'm an ex-surfing champion from the classic era - so I'm always happy to meet other younger surfing women.
Not so far along the beach are two patrolled beaches (Surf Life-saving Clubs), and there's a pleasant walkway to the nearby Tallebudgera Estuary, where there's a lovely calm water swimming beach. From there, take the bridge over to the Burleigh Head National Park. You can walk via two paths through the National Park - around the front of the headland with lovely ocean views or up through the bush, to the little town center of Burleigh Heads. It's nice there - lots of coffee shops and bars and cafes (some right on the beach), boutiques, and other interesting shops.
It's easy to take the Surf Side buses, which traverse the Gold Coast Highway, with bus-stop just a short walk from the Villa. This bus service can take you anywhere you want to go in Gold Coast city.
The Villa is near to the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary where you can see all the Australian native fauna and birds in lovely surroundings.
I'm friendly, well-traveled and have lived at Gold Coast for over 40 years, so I can answer your questions and advise you on things to do.
Breakfast included, but no pets, no smoking inside. Limit of stay, two weeks. Longer stays may be negotiated.
We managed to book a stay with Cynthia through Airbnb. We only wanted a place to sleep for the night that is cheap and cosy as we were flying back to Malaysia the next day in the morning. Cynthia was such a lovely host. We took a train from Brisbane to Gold Coast. At first we wanted to take a bus from the station to her house. We didn't know that there were no buses available until Cynthia told us and she offered to pick us up from the station. She was really helpful otherwise we would have gotten stranded at the station. We loved her house as it was in very close proximity to the beach so we woke up early and walked across the road and the beach was just 2 blocks away! Cynthia made us feel very comfortable and I'm sure I'd love to stay at her place the next time we go to Gold Coast.
Cynthia made our stay really great! She made awesome breakfast for us and it was really great to hear some of her stories about australia. We really recommend a stay here.
It's a good place to stay for a break, convenient to go around the Gold Coast, There is beautiful beach, sky and quiet neighborhood in this place, Palm beach, Cynthia is also a very nice host, she made a delicious breakfast for us every morning, And gave us many practical information, We're very thankful for all of her supports and kindness.
Cynthia was very friendly and accommodating!
I had a wonderful stay at Cynthia's! My room with adjoining bathroom was immaculately clean, beautifully furnished, and very comfortable, including little touches like fresh flowers and filtered water in my room. Cynthia is extremely hospitable and I felt really relaxed and welcome in her home. She is a great conversationalist and good fun to spend an evening with, talking, laughing and sharing a meal. Cynthia was awesome at giving me advice on how to get around and at sharing info about places of interest. I found her home ideally situated being close to Coolangatta airport, away from the high-rise buildings, close to the bus routes, and only a short walk from the stunning Palm Beach. I highly recommend Cynthia to anyone wanting to enjoy some safe, relaxing down-time on the Gold Coast.
Perfect! I was very fun to chat with her about her life especially, childhood.
And she knows many things about oriental culture.
There were many items for decoration in her house. Looking them in her house was interesting.
She is a perfect host!!
Thank you Cynthia for your warmth, hospitality and kindness. Your abode was perfect for a short getaway to the coast- close to the beach, a few friendly cosy eateries in the neighbourhood and if you feel to drift further there's the bus to take you further a field. Thanks to Cynthia's recommendations. I had a lovely time!
I was visiting the gold coast with my son when we came in contact with Cynthia for a room near the beach. We really enjoyed our stay with Cynthia, her place is clean and well kept with separate modern bathroom and we were made to feel right at home the whole time we were there. Cynthia is easy to have a conversation with and has heaps of local knowledge and especially on the arts. Walking distance to beach, which was really ace, and close to all amenities. Probably more comfy for singles, (as advertised) but worked well for us.... Thanks heaps for the hospitality Cynthia.... was a lovely experience,
Cynthia has been a charming and passionate host.
The room is very peaceful a step away from the beach
A great hotel alternative :)
Cynthia was an excellent host! She is kind and generous, willing to answer any of my questions and even letting me watch a few DVDs from her amazing collection. She was a great host in helping me find my feet and gave me helpful instructions for catching the bus and which stops to look for. As someone who isn't originally from the beach, it was great to hear her surfing stories! Highly recommended! Thank you Cynthia!
