About this listing
Stay in a modern villa, less than five minutes walk to the beach. You will stay in the downstairs private guest suite, bedroom, and adjoining bathroom with shower and toilet. Modern kitchen is upstairs.
It's 15 minutes drive from Coolangatta Airport (The Gold Coast airport).
I usually like to host women travelers only, however males will be considered on their previous reviews and recommendations on AirBnB website. International guests are very welcome, especially from Indonesia, because I speak some Indonesian language and know your country well.
The bedroom has a very comfortable single bed, (also roll-out bed with foam mattress on wooden slats, for second guest (add $20 per night). There is a fan . No air-conditioning, - in this climate, it's not necessary.
Towels and bed linen supplied.
Complimentary WI FI access.
Flat screen TV: (local TV not available). However, you may borrow from an extensive DVD library.. (This is the home of a film-buff and frequently published writer on cinema.)
You may use the laundry, and clothes lines and access the kitchen (upstairs).
There are two private courtyards with table/chair/ sun umbrella for relaxing/reading and dining, adjoining your downstairs area.
There's also a spa bathroom which you may arrange to use for a small extra fee. (We have to pay for water by the litre in this town.)
A few minutes walk from the Villa there are around seven reasonably priced food places, where you can get Thai food, Indonesian food, Pizza, gourmet fish and chips. Also very close-by, a quality restaurant/coffee shop, a McDonald's, a general-store, chemist, hairdresser, wine/beer stores. A little five minute drive to 2 Japanese restaurants in Palm Beach, Chinese, and other options for food. Many more in Burleigh Heads, 5 minutes to the north by car.
Palm Beach is great for long walks, watching the full moon rise, and swims or reading and lounging in the sun. If you have a surfboard, beach breaks are sometimes good. I'm an ex-surfing champion from the classic era - so I'm always happy to meet other younger surfing women.
Not so far along the beach are two patrolled beaches (Surf Life-saving Clubs), and there's a pleasant walkway to the nearby Tallebudgera Estuary, where there's a lovely calm water swimming beach. From there, take the bridge over to the Burleigh Head National Park. You can walk via two paths through the National Park - around the front of the headland with lovely ocean views or up through the bush, to the little town center of Burleigh Heads. It's nice there - lots of coffee shops and bars and cafes (some right on the beach), boutiques, and other interesting shops.
It's easy to take the Surf Side buses, which traverse the Gold Coast Highway, with bus-stop just a short walk from the Villa. This bus service can take you anywhere you want to go in Gold Coast city.
The Villa is near to the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary where you can see all the Australian native fauna and birds in lovely surroundings.
I'm friendly, well-traveled and have lived at Gold Coast for over 40 years, so I can answer your questions and advise you on things to do.
Breakfast included, but no pets, no smoking inside. Limit of stay, two weeks. Longer stays may be negotiated.
Please observe, just a 'reasonable volume' of music, radio and TV. Thanks.
Thank you so much Cynthia for the stay we loved every minute. We loved how close it was to the buses which came very regularly. Thank you for your cafe recommendations you were very attentive and welcoming!!
The house is in a great location, near the beach and cafes. The room was spotless, modern and private. And Cynthia was an excellent host, very friendly and helpful.
We stayed at Cynthia's place for 4 nights and it was a great experience. Very close to the beach, private bathroom and a balcony, where you can enjoy your breakfast/dinner. Cynthia was very friendly and helpful starting with such things as flexible dates (we arrived and left one day earlier than planned), ending with such small things as helping with laundry, borrowing umbrella etc. It felt like we stayed at our good friend's house.
Stayed at Cynthia's place for a couple of days for some surf coaching. The location is great because it is a short walk to the beach, restaurants and shops. The house is very clean ad inviting and there is plenty of space. I took my teenage daughter and se slept on the spare bed. Cynthia is very nice and welcoming. She has travelled extensively and has lots of life experience, well worth a chat or two. We were pretty busy with a course that we ad to do, but could spend a lot of time here.
Although I just stay at Cynthia's home one night, I have to say that's a lovely place to stay at Gold Coast. There less than 5 mins walk to the beach and have a nice cafe nearby. Cynthia is a nice person who love share her stories with new friends and take care of (website hidden) the way, you can watch movies at your room, also there's clear private bathroom!
My stay with Cynthia was terrific. Cynthia was the best possible imaginable hostess and the room was the best. Location wise it can't be beat, just steps from the ocean and a nice cafe/resto by the beach. Cynthia was kind enough to pick me up from the train station and from the moment we met, we got on like two peas. The room and house are absolutely lovely. If you choose to stay on the Gold Coast and need a bit of peace and solitude by the water and ready to make a new friend, I would highly recommend staying!
About the Host, Cynthia
I love art and culture and especially the cinema. I'm an artist, writer, film buff and my frequently published writings are often about cinema.
I love to travel, especially to go to visit my many friends in Indonesia. I like meeting new friends especially those from other countries. I have a lifetime involvement in surfing since the "classic era". Travelling, reading, music, good films, writing and learning are my lifetime passions. I love beach walking on the long spotlessly clean beach a few minutes walk from my residence, and of course swimming in the ocean. I have really enjoyed hosting all of my AirBnb guests. Nice warm and open people, with an interest in making friendships, learning about the area that they are visiting, and we can always share information about one another's home bases. It's always fun to have other Australians, and I really enjoy my international guests.
