The space
Our comfortable cabin is situated in a peaceful neighborhood just off Highway 18. The property occupies a spacious, sloping lot (approximately 7,000 sq ft) with a steep, private driveway. Access to the cabin is via a stairway leading to the rear entrance. You will need to climb stairs to get to the top of the property where our front door is located. We have friendly, permanent neighbors on either side.
Parking:
Guests are welcome to park in our private driveway at their own risk and discretion. Please be aware that the driveway's steep incline can present a challenge, particularly during periods of snowfall. Some have found it easier to back into the driveway. As there are no guardrails, we advise exercising caution. We make every effort to clear the driveway during the winter months and provide snowmelt at the top of the driveway for added convenience. If you prefer not to utilize the driveway, street parking may be available. Please ensure your vehicle does not obstruct the roadway, allowing sufficient space for snowplows.
Prior to Arrival:
We recommend checking the weather forecast and any relevant advisories issued for the San Bernardino National Forest and the town of Running Springs before your departure to ensure a safe and pleasant stay.
Things to Note & Accessibility:
Water pressure may be dropped during the winter time to keep the water hot.
To get these mountain views, cabins are built on the mountain, there will be stairs to climb to get to the front door it approximately 20 to 25 steps to get to the entrance. Unfortunately, due to the terrain of our property, there is no way to make this into an ADA friendly home.
There is a ladder to get to the loft to access the upper bed.
Winter Advisory (November - April):
During the winter season (November through April), CalTrans may require vehicles to have all-wheel/four-wheel drive or carry chains. We strongly recommend checking current road conditions and any advisories before your arrival, as vehicles without the necessary equipment may be turned back. Please be prepared for winter weather during these months. Southern California Edison (SCE) may also implement planned power outages during severe weather events. We will ensure to keep you informed of any planned outages as we receive updates. Please understand that we cannot control weather conditions or power outages and therefore cannot offer refunds due to these circumstances. However, we are happy to discuss rescheduling your stay on a case-by-case basis.
Guest access
Guests have full access to the property during their stay, except for the downstairs storage area, which will remain locked.
For your safety, sledding down the hill on the property is strictly prohibited. The slope drops approximately 20 feet to the street below and lacks any protective barriers. We would strongly suggest against this activity to prevent potential injury. For those interested in snow activities, Snow Valley is just a short 10-minute drive away and offers day passes for snow tubing.
Other things to note
We have a new AC for you to stay cool all year long.
We are in a no burn, high fire danger zone, do not light fires inside or outside the home. The fireplace in our cabin is for decorative purposes only and is a faux simulated fire. Use the buttons on the right side of the “logs” to turn on the “flame” and heat. Please turn off the fireplace when you leave.
