Centrally located in the heart of pretty North Downtown, Charlottesville, our home is within walking distance of many conveniences and attractions. It's a 2 minute (and 2 block) walk to the historic Downtown pedestrian mall where boutique shops, restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries, music venues, and bars abound, a 20 minute walk (or 5 minute drive) to the UVA campus, and a 15 minute drive to Monticello. We are just blocks from the vibrant Saturday morning Farmer's Market, a weekly stomping ground for the community, local farmers, and artisans to gather in celebration of the season's best locally made and sourced items. Nearby parks include Lee Park (1 block away), and R E Lee Monument.
Street parking is available in our downtown area as well as two parking garages. Being in the heart of downtown comes with a few parking regulations to be aware of. There is regulated 2 hour parking Monday-Saturday from 10-6pm on most of the streets in our neighborhood. Please be mindful of these rules as you make your arrival itinerary. The street directly in front of our house has unlimited parking rules so we encourage our guests who will be staying for extended stays to utilise that parking amenity.
There is plenty of public transport in the area, including a free trolley, which goes between the Downtown mall and the UVA area. We are a 5 minute walk to the Downtown Transit Station, which connects a host of bus routes across Charlottesville.

-We use only natural, non-toxic, hypoallergenic and biodegradable laundry detergent
-The toiletry essentials (hand soap, hand cream) provided in the guest bath are natural, non-toxic, chemical-free, plant-derived, and biodegradable
-We welcome the fresh Virginia air during warmer days by allowing the windows to be open, but we provide energy efficient air conditioning units for days that feel ultra balmy
-All of our lamps are outfitted with energy efficient bulbs.
-Water is provided in the guest rooms in glass bottles, rather than plastic
-We provide filtered, alkaline water to help support a healthy pH level

Let me start off by saying that Caroline is gracious, friendly and accommodating not to mention she reminded us of an elvish princess from a Tolkien novel. The home was bright, clean and comfortable. The room was quaint and lovely. If you are traveling to Charlottesville and want to stay in a beautiful home in a prime location then do yourself a favor and stay with Caroline.
I had a great experience staying at Caroline's. The house was extremely clean and tidy. It was also quiet with lots of natural light. Caroline was a great host - friendly and available. I will stay at this location again.
Caroline and Jack are amazingly friendly hosts. We had a couple of great conversations through our brief stay.
The house is beautiful and has retained many touches from its 200 year history. The room opens out to a sleeping porch with a comfortable hammock that I was happy to use after a night out.
The location is prime: just a few blocks from the downtown pedestrian mall. You might have to park a few blocks away, but downtown Charlottesville is very walkable and you shouldn't have to go far.
My stay with Caroline was perfect -- easy, peaceful, and cool. She and her husband have a historic Victorian home right in downtown Charlottesville. It's 2-3 blocks from the main strip, but peaceful and cozy in a neighborhood. I walked everywhere.
Caroline had french press and bag of fresh coffee waiting for me in the room to use during my stay, along with filter watered and plenty of glasses -- all in the room. The room also has a private balcony with a table -- great place to work, eat, or just relax.
All in all beautiful home, very friendly hosts, and great location. Will definitely return next time in Charlottesville.
This is a fantastic location just two blocks from The Mall. Our room was as described and the hosts are very accomodating. The private balcony is fantastic, the bed is comfortable, the house and bathroom are clean. Thank You. Book with confidence.
I had a truly nice weekend at this lovely old home. As promised, it was within walking distance to UVA and a couple of blocks from the pedestrian mall. The owners were knowledgeable and friendly. The room was clean, neat and looked just like the picture.
The home itself is a work in progress - as are many renovated homes of that era, but it is well kept and nicely tended - I can imagine how they will continue this project in coming years - it's cool to just imagine the future - and ponder the past - I wonder who lived there 100 years ago.
I would certainly recommend this home to anyone - especially during graduation week when everyplace else has been booked for years! I think this home would also be perfect for people visiting from further out of town - it is a great launching pad to the region and it took me just a few minutes in the morning to navigate my way back out.
And while the hosts provide coffee and water and refrigerator access, there are some lovely inexpensive (and expensive) places to get a full breakfast, lunch or dinner - or a drink nearby.
Do come and do stay and get to know Jack and Caroline. They are a youthful, creative couple with lots of great energy.
Caroline and Jack were lovely hosts and gave us a sense of the hospitality and creativity that characterizes Blacksburg. Their home was as pictured, and we enjoyed spending mornings reading and talking on their very pleasant porches. The home is perfectly located, on a quiet street, but a short walk to the downtown mall.

About the Host, Caroline
My husband, Jack, and I are really impassioned by living a health conscious and informed life. We believe that living well can be done with simplicity and ease, and we strive to reflect this in all facets of our lifestyle.
We both lived in NYC and London, respectively, for several years before returning to quaint Charlottesville, (I grew up here and Jack went to UVA) which is where our roots are planted for now. We often find ourselves daydreaming of the surf and sun in Australia or Portugal, of "new world" vs. "old world," but the ease and quality of life in Charlottesville keeps our anchor here for at least a few more years. I'm a certifed Ayurvedic Practioner and formulator for my bespoke, plant-based skincare brand. Jack runs and manages the restaurant/taco shop abutting the Jefferson Theatre music venue while his cinema is in development. Though our entrepreneurial ventures keep us quite busy, as hosts, we are happy to allow as much or as little privacy during your stay as you like, and we are always available to field any questions or make recommendations for seeing the most of the town.
