Yuko & Lu were wonderful hosts. They were very accommodating and we even had a chance to enjoy a few glasses of wine! Very clean space and really great location.
I stayed Yuko & Lu 'a place about a week in second week of feb. NYC was extremely cold and snowing so much but thanks to great hosts, I was able to stay warm and comfortable. The location is the place is fantastic, close to everything especially time square ( I walked there nearly every day!! ) i stayed outside most of the time, busy with sight seeing and exploring nyc so I was happy about condition of the place and facilities. I definitely recommend Yuko & Lu 's place to people who want to make most of NYC :)
This was my first experience with airbnb and definitely not the last one!
Yuko's apartment is very clean with a kitchen (micro wave / refrigerator / oven / cooktop). The room has enough space for two people. As the temperature was really cold, Yuko gave us blankets, and an additional electric heating to make us feel comfortable.
The place is 5' to Penn Station and to the Madison Square Garden. If you walk a bit more you're on Times Square!
Even if she worked a lot, Yuko was a great host, and I really recommend this place... Except on the week I'll come back! ;)
Yuko's place is clean and is very conveniently located in mid-town where Penn Station and several subway stations are. It's on a quieter street with lots of residences. While I didn't see Yuko much during my stay as I spent most of my time exploring NYC, Yuko was very accommodating to my check-in/check-out times and left a towel for me for showering. The room is a good size with a double bed & closet space but the room is a bit bare. The room has a heater and fan which I appreciated as it's quite cold without. Three cons: (1) as it's a basement apt, the floor is cold in the winter even if the room is hot from the heater so bring slippers or fuzzy socks. (2) you'll hear some noise from the plumbing system, etc. If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs. (3) the wi-fi is a bit slow during the evening. If being connected is important to you, I advise to make arrangements with your service provider for a data plan. Otherwise, it's really a great place in a great location and I'm glad I booked here.
This was my first Airbnb stay. The host was welcoming and took me through the ins and outs of her guest accommodation. In terms of location, you can't beat it. A five minute walk from Penn Station. Wonderful!
Just a couple of things. If you are a light sleeper, this place is not for you. Especially on the weekend. I arrived on Thursday and stayed until Monday morning and all those nights were difficult to stay asleep. The room is in the basement and is six feet from the sidewalk and another two feet from the road. From 11pm to 2am this is a very busy pedestrian thoroughfare. And vehicular traffic is heavy most of the nights on a weekend. Especially if there are basketball or hockey games at MSG. There were games on two consecutive nights during my stay and it was loud and sleep was only a dream from 11pm until 2am. MSG parking garage is a couple of doors down. There is a fan in the closet. I didn't try this but perhaps running the fan at night would create some white noise to offset the street noise.
As well, if you are used to having it dark, this may not be the place for you. The blackout curtains do not completely blackout the street light. So the room is not dark at night.
The room is quite cold at night. My stay was during an above freezing January weekend, and when I opened my door in the middle of the night and walked into the living room, the temperature was at least 5-10 degrees warmer. There is an extra blanket provided.
Now having said all this, I still enjoyed my first Airbnb experience!
Great host. Met me when I arrived from the airport. Place is very clean and has a kitchen and refrigerator available for use. Yuko even has space heaters and extra blankets available for use, if needed. Location is literally a 3 minute walk from Penn Station and 5 minute walk to Madison square garden. It is SUPER easy to get here from any of the 3 airports in NYC. Yuko is very friendly and personable. I accidentally locked myself out one night and Yuko came to the rescue in 20 minutes or so. I would definitely recommend this unit to anyone visiting NYC.
When we arrived, Yuko wasn't able to meet us as she was working but made alternative arrangements so we were able to get into the flat which we were greatful for. We hardly saw Yuko the time we stayed there but when we did she was very pleasant & helpful. Yuko ' s place is very central to everything & being so close to Penn Station made getting around NYC very easy. The accommodation is clean & basic which was fine for us as we were hardly there & is exactly as she describes. Being an older style NY building, there is an exposed radiator in the ceiling which makes occasional noises & it took my husband & I a couple of days to get use. The flat is on pretty quiet street (the room we stayed in was at the front of the building) so minimal noise which is an added bonus. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Yuko 's & would gladly recommend it.
Yuko was a great host! The apt was conveniently located next to public transport hub (Penn Station) that took you almost everywhere, JFK, Times Square, Center Park, etc. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. It was the perfect spot for visiting New York. Yuko had a clean towel and sheets waiting for us. It was a very pleasant experience and we would definitely visit Yuko again.
I really enjoyed staying in Yuko's spare room. The apartment is located in a prime spot in NYC making it extremely easy to jump on most subway lines to anywhere in the city. If you are flying in to Newark and take a train to NY Penn Station, the apartment is right around the corner; an easy walk.
It's easy to tell that Yuko keeps the cleanliness of the place a top priority. The room itself is a little smaller than what you would get at an average NYC hotel, but the apartment in it's entirety is much larger. The space is perfect and never did I feel crammed. Yuko was gracious in offering the use of the kitchen and refrigerator, but I never had the need. There is some street noise, but that is expected in NYC.
Above all, Yuko was extremely kind and accommodating. I know that when I return to NYC, I will definitely look to see if her place is available first. I highly recommend this room and host.
We had a great time in New York and Yuko's place was the perfect basis to explore the city. The apartment is cute, everything is clean and the location is just perfect. Yuko is a great host.
