We are offering an extremely spacious en suite room 6.5m x 4.8m. It has a double bed, large comfy sofa, and an en-suite shower room with toilet and wash basin. The room is large enough to accommodate two extra single futon beds and a baby travel cot, if you are travelling with your family.
We have wifi that guests can utilise, and guests are welcome to use our family kitchen and garden. Instant hot water is available at all times and your room has a small kettle and drinking water. For breakfast we will provide cereal, milk, toast etc that guests can help themselves too.
Guests should be aware that we have a cat & a kitten who wander in and out of all rooms in our house. They are very friendly! If you have an allergy to cats we may not be the room for you!
We are non-smokers and do not allow smoking in our home. Guests are welcome to sit in our garden and smoke though, provided stubs are disposed of in the external street bins.
Guests should also be aware that although our home is great, we are at the end of a 3 year renovation project and there are still a few details that are waiting completion, and some decorating to do in the hallway. The room on offer is totally finished and tastefully decorated - a wonderfully airy, light space on the first floor of our house. Please check the photo of the staircase to make sure you are happy with this.
Our house is situated very close to the meadows park, Bruntsfield and Toll Cross. It is a great central location within easy walking distance of Princes street and the Old Town. We are also close to a major bus interchange so getting around is simple.
There are numerous restaurants, bars, cinemas and festival venues on our doorstep.
Our house is clean, comfortable and ideal as a base for exploring the capital city of Scotland. If you are visiting with a car, parking can be a little tricky! Parking is free in our street between 5.30pm and 8.30am, and at the weekends. There are pay and display meters in our street and all neighbouring streets for other times of day, but they only allow a maximum stay of 4 hours for about £1.50 per hour. Or, free on-street parking about 20 or 30 minute walk away from the house. Alternatively, you may be able to arrange secure parking with the Fountain Court Apartments at the end of our small street.
We want you to enjoy your stay with us and we are happy to help in any way we can - if there is something you need; an extra pillow or blanket; restaurant recommendations, directions, a map, just ask!
We had a lovely time in Edinburgh and Ewen and Julie were the perfect hosts, always so helpful and they made sure we had everything we needed. Both the bedroom and en suite were so nicely decorated and homely - plus we loved our little furry visitor!
We had a lovely stay with Ewen and Julie. They made us feel very welcome and gave us lots of great tips for our stay in Edinburgh.Their family home was such a cosy house, perfect for our winter stay in Edinburgh! The room and en suite were super clean (plus an AMAZING shower)the bed was really comfortable and we even had a little kitten to entertain us when it was raining outside!
The house was in walking distance to the city centre, lots of pubs and restaurants, as well as the castle and galleries. We couldn't have asked for any more from this stay and will definitely stay there again!
We stayed with Julie and Ewen for 2 nights. They are a very friendly and relaxed couple. The room and the bathroom are fantastic, very clean, spacious and beautifully decorated. Their place is in walking distance from the center (10/15 min). We didn't feel like we were in the middle of a big city, since their place is away from the city noise but close enough to reach it easily. Another lovely surprise was the fact that they are very health conscious. We had some delicious whole grain muesli, Greek yogurt and fresh fruits for breakfast, among other delicious breads and artisan jams, and we even got some yummy home-made baklava for our trip to the highlands! It couldn't have been any better.
Julie & Ewen, thank you for making us feel so welcome and for all your tips. The rest of our trip to the highlands was lovely, Scotland is a beautiful country and your people is among the most friendly we have encountered in our many travels. We loved the cranachan and the haggis, neeps and tatties but we were not able to eat the potato scones, so we will be back to Scotland for sure!!! ;-)
With love, Mirian & David
My partner and I had an amazing time in Edinburgh and this was made even better by the beautiful surroundings of Ewen and Julie's home. The room was clean, spacious and beautifully decorated. There were lots of little thoughtful touches and we felt really relaxed. Ewen, Julie, their family, the cat and the cutest kitten were the most delightful people and really made us feel so welcome. Highly recommend this place. The location was also so handy for walking to all the sites!
Thank you for your lovely review Nicola! It was a delight to meet you both and we would be very happy to host you again anytime! My sister and her kids have now moved into their new home so our house is slightly quieter and less bursting at the seams! Happy birthday to Dwayne again. x
Very nice and spacious room close to city center (walking distance). We found some nice pubs and restaurant nearby.
We haven't met Ewen and Julie (they were on holidays), but Maria her sister. She was very nice and friendly.
We enjoyed the place, and the lovely city.
We had a lovely stay at Ewan and Julie's! The room is just amazing, spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. They're really nice and kind, although I have to say we didn't spend so much time in the house 'cause we had only 3 days to explore the town. The area is quite nice, with several pubs and cafès where you can enjoy a typical scottish breakfast (I reccomend The golf tavern for this) or a nice sweet treat in places like The Treehouse, where I had the best pancakes with berries and yoghurt ever! Still, you need to know that the house is not located in the very centre, you might have to walk around 15 minutes to reach the Royal Mile, the Edinburgh Castle or the New Town. But, anyway, it's a nice walk not tiring at all. I totally reccomend this place. Thanks for the warm welcome Ewan and Julie!
I really enjoyed their place. Everything was better than my expectation. The room is larger than the picture on website and fancy. Breakfast was really well organized! For my visit she offered 2 futons because I went there with my family. Of course Julie is kind and nice enough. All my family also stay here with comfort! Many thanks to them and i really recommend this space!
Julie and Ewen have a genuine gift for making you feel welcome in their lovely house that's so nicely located a few minutes walk away from the buzz of Edinburgh. The room is indeed truly spacious and very well decorated. We enjoyed every minute of our 3 nights stay.
Wonderful experience! Ewen and Julie are so nice, considerate and hospitable. The room is fantastic, just like home, as well as the breakfast! We love it all and the cat Daisy! Just choose it! It will never fail you!
We were a group of 4 girls and had a wonderful time in Julies's and Ewen's house. They are a very welcoming and hearty family who are helping wherever they can. We felt like home thanks to their hospitality.
The room is indeed very spacious and offers everything you need. The whole house is decorated very nicely and the furniture of the room is quite comfortable! Julie and Ewen provide a lovely breakfast that gets you started well for the day.
The downtown area is within 15-20 minutes walking distance. Staying in the neighbourhood is also a cozy option due to its nice little stores, cafes and restaurants.
Thank you Julie, Ewen and Mia for making our girls weekend!
