You will be staying in a cozy, little room with a double bed, nicely decorated. The house is quite charming with a shabby chic vintage decor though out. The bathroom is small but sweet, with a shower/tub combo and a pedestal sink. It's a quiet, country setting but still close to everything. There is a large sunny kitchen and a large front yard. The home is relaxing, nurturing, and has lots of character. It is in no way modern, fancy, or contemporary. There is wireless internet. However, there is no granite, no dishwasher, no garbage disposal, no TV, and no central heat or air. A refreshing spot for those who are used to the city. There is a residence directly behind the house, but not attached to the house, which shares the driveway. The property is located 3 miles from the center of San Luis Obispo, 1.5 miles to the nearest shopping center, 4.2 miles from Cal Poly, 12 miles from the beach, and just 2 to 3 miles from several wineries.

Interaction with Guests
If I am available, I would love to greet you when you arrive. You will enjoy your privacy otherwise.
Quiet country setting instead of housing community, and has views of natural settings. Great to be 2 to 3 miles from town. There is a residence right behind the house but not attached to the house that shares the driveway. Nice front yard but no back yard.
A bus stop is available half a mile from the house. Nice to have a car in this location.

Accommodates a maximum of 2 people. There is a cement driveway. Please park to the right of the driveway in the parking area, as another residence shares the driveway. Please let me know if you plan to have any other visitors over to the house during your stay. No smoking please. Relax and Enjoy!
I couldn't have been happier with my stay at the Shabby Chic Cottage. It really is a beautiful space in a perfect location - close to MANY wineries in SLO, Down Town SLO, and probably 6 minutes from Cal Poly. Majorie was really attentive as a host, as well. She left me 2 kinds of wine and plenty of cheese and snacks and soaps and even fire wood for the stove/fire pit (too bad it rained!). The house is so cozy and quiet I almost didn't want to leave! The only drawback about staying at the Cottage and having Majorie as a host is that you'll be spoiled rotten! Thank you, Marjorie - I had a perfect time and would love to come back again, soon (Pismo looked pretty good for a surf!)
We were welcomed with a lovely view of green hills, flowers both outside and throughout the inside, wine and cheese, pumpkin bread and a list of great places to go downtown. Nearby biking and hiking beautiful. Place itself homey and welcoming.
My partner and I could not have been happier with our stay at Marjorie's lovely shabby chic cottage. The place was an ideal spot for a quiet romantic getaway. We loved spending time in the cottage by the cozy wood stove and in the beautiful garden, and appreciated that it felt like a place out in the country while still being very conveniently located.
Marjorie went out of her way to be warm, helpful and accommodating. She greeted us with a bottle of wine, cheese and crackers and also left us fruit, eggs and even a delicious loaf of home made pumpkin bread. We would highly recommend Marjorie as a host and her lovely cottage!
Marjorie was very welcoming and checked in to see if everything was alright. We loved the area, cottage and it was charming.
Marjorie is an excellent host. she goes above and beyond to make sure her guests feel welcome and cared for. We arrived to meet her, which doesn't always happen and we always prefer. She had the house stocked with snacks, wine, what we needed for the morning to get going. She was helpful and in communication with us throughout our stay. Her house sis very cute with lovely pastoral views and a garden where you can can a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. We managed to leave a bag behind and Marjorie was supper nice about that too. We will be back!
Thanks so much for your review. I really enjoyed meeting you and and will work with you on cost should you want to come back again before the end of the year. I will be in and out of town during the months of November and December and hope to host a few guests those months. Be well and nurture yourselves!
What a hidden gem Marjorie has here in SLO. We happened upon her listing at the last minute when a previously booked trip did not meet our expectations and was nowhere near what was represented on Airbnb. We called late in the evening and Marjorie took the time to accommodate our situation. The place is perfectly represented in the photos but could never convey the essence of the cottage. It was serene and sublime, offering a respite from the trappings off modern society- just what we needed! She took the time to read my profile and had lovely local fruits, sparkling cider, and water for us to enjoy. We had the pleasure of meeting her in person and she was just a delight. We look forward to staying again, maybe in the Winter so that we can enjoy the woodstove. Thanks to Marjorie, our faith was restored.
Thanks so much for your review. I loved meeting you also and hope we can stay in touch. Probably the best way to do that would be for you to come back sometime soon. You can stay just one night if that is all you have and/or plan a longer trip next year. Hope sometime in December will work. The wood stove will keep you warm. My favorite is when it rains; the atmosphere is so cozy.
We had a great weekend at Marjories home celebrating my husbands birthday. She was a very thoughtful host and left a birthday sign and wine for our arrival. The cottage is spacious, very cute and comfortable and just a short cab ride from downtown San Luis Obispo!
I have been living in San Luis Obispo for 30 years. Originally from the Washington DC area. Graduated from Cal Poly. Enjoy healthy food, hiking, yoga and travel.
