The Space

Welcome to Burren Farm Camping. A beautiful place to stay, situated on a 300 acre organic farm in the heart of The Burren, an area of outstanding natural beauty.
We have a fantastic vintage Cheltenham caravan and 2 large Bell tents available, on various spectacular sites within the farm.
The caravan sleeps 3 adults and 1 child or 2+2. It has a lovely kitchen area with a gas stove and lots of storage space, a very comfortable double bed and two bunk beds. It is a truly gorgeous retreat with lovely rich wood panelling throughout.
The bell tents comfortably sleep 4 with lots of space left over for hanging out under cover.
We supply bedding, cotton sheets, duvets and pillows. There is also access to a hot shower and flushing loo nearby.
We can set up an outside dining area with a brazier that doubles as a barbeque and a small supply of wood to start you off.
Home made food and/or ingredients are available on request.
There are great walks around the farm, where you can experience The Burren's extraordinary diversity of flora and fauna; wild orchids, gentians, standing stones, erratics, feral goats, red squirrels...the list is endless - just (website hidden) The Burren and see the vast array of beauty and history we have to offer. Just ask, we can guide you.

Only 4 miles from the nearest coast, there are plenty of beautiful beaches for surfing, kayaking and swimming, with friendly pubs nearby offering delicious seafood, music and Guinness for a well deserved respite.
Father Ted's house is down the road, offering delicious tea and cake and go on go on you will you will's.
All age groups are catered for, there are great activities for children, with a nature sanctuary and indoor/outdoor playground nearby (email hidden) , fantastic lake swimming and an outdoor education centre 2 miles down the road (website hidden) . We will point you in all the right directions!

A romantic getaway for a couple, a fantastic adventure for a family, a great party for a group of friends.

Bring wellies and jumpers, flip flops and bikinis!

Interaction with Guests

We don't live on the farm, but 15 minutes away the other side of Carron village. We are always here to greet our guests and show them around the caravan and bathroom and explain about the area. Chris comes to the farm daily to work and if our guests need any help with anything we are very happy to help!

  • Had a wonderful sunny June long weekend here. Location is stunning, surrounded by the Burren landscape and utterly remote so it's really peaceful! The hosts were lovely and left us some food and wood for the fire. The caravan is picturesque and has everything you need for your stay. The bathroom block is a two minute walk away through a field and was spotless with towels provided. Would definitely recommend a summer holiday here!

  • There is such an eerie beauty to the Burren landscape, and what better way to explore and enjoy it than staying in a quaint vintage camper right in the middle of it?! Julia very graciously met my husband and I in the nearby village of Carran to direct us the rest of the way to her family's farm where the camper was located. Julia, Chris and their son Freddie showed us around the campsite and gave us lots of great advice on the surrounding area. There were tons of great brochures, hiking maps and books at our disposal in the camper. A big loaf of bread, eggs and orange juice were left for us for breakfast in the morning. We lit a fire in the fire pit each night and enjoyed watching the sun set to the West over the limestone hills. We stayed 2 evenings in the camper and we enjoyed every minute of it. The location was great to drive to the Cliffs of Moher, scenic coastal drives along the Galway Bay, Kinvara and near countless hiking possibilities. We highly recommend staying here!

  • The caravan was beautifully situated right in the centre of the Burren with a long scenic lane to reach it. It is 2 fields from the toilet block so Wellingtons are pretty essential . Space is fine for two people and Julie had left lovely breakfast fare , flowers and a great information pack. The area was remote and beautiful and there were resident cuckoos and wonderful wildflowers. Would highly recommend as a peaceful getaway.

  • If you are looking this page and reading this comment because you are thinking to stay there for a couple of day, just book, you’ll enjoy it!

Seriously Julia and Chris are great host. They waited after us because I wasn’t able to find the place and we were already a little late because of problem at the airport. They left food, maps, a list of what to do around and everything we needed for our stay. Julia took time to explain everything to us when we arrived even if it was running late and they had their children at home. They are not living on the farm but Chris is basically always working there so if you need help with something they can help.

Burren is a great place to walk, enjoy nature, rest yourself and just relax. We planned a couple of day trip to Cliffs of Moher and Aran Island and I was stopping every 5 km to check the landscape on the coastal route. One of the best 45 min drive ever.

Living in this camper was an experience and it’s something you’ll remember because it’s not a typical hotel or B&B. It’s completely different and you feel different, disconnected from the world, enjoying nature and landscape it was the perfect getaway for us.

  • This camping site, and accommodations are nothing short of magical. We wanted to escape the city, and slow down a bit.... We got everything we wanted and more. Two nights was hardly enough.

Julia and Chris are both very warm and welcoming. We hardly saw each other, but after they so kindly gave us a tour we were completely alone, out in the hills and couldn't have been happier.

The caravan is in wonderful condition; fresh, clean, and cozy! It is well decorated and very comfortable for two people with great pillows and wonderful duvet. The kitchen was very accommodating; even a oven!! We grilled our first dinner over the fire and then made a full, and proper, Easter breakfast.

I can't say enough about this wonderful place.... We will definitely be back!

  • Chris and Julia's caravan was an amazing experience and probably our favourite place we stayed during our holiday in Ireland. The caravan is lovely, the location out of this world and the shower nice and hot!
They even left some eggs, milk, bread and butter in the caravan for us which were much appreciated.
I'd love to stay here again and would highly recommend it.

  • I absolutely loved my time in this camper. I'm a poet and musician traveling in Ireland on a writing grant, and I stayed on my own here for six days of writing, music, hiking, and quiet. The camper is very well cared for and was clean and stocked with everything I needed when I arrived, including a huge basket of organic fruits and vegetables. The whole family welcomed me and gave me advice on the area, and they're the nicest people you can imagine, available for anything I needed and passionate about camping and farming. As I said, I was here on my own, but the camper is perfect for 2-3 people and a very reasonable price, especially if you're splitting the cost.

The scenery of the Burren is unique and spectacular, so take a few days to really experience it! Go on hikes in the hills, check out the archaeological sites, and have a tea and buy some gifts at the Burren Perfumery. Staying here was one of the highlights of my time in Ireland and I absolutely recommend it, especially for people who love the outdoors or are looking for artistic inspiration! Thanks for everything, Julia and Chris!

  • This little caravan is a really special place. Chris and Julia are so thoughtful and easy to talk to. They left some foodstuffs to get us started, picked us up in town so we didn't get lost en route, and thoughtfully showed us around the caravan's nooks and crannies. The place was super clean and obviously really loved and cared for.
We had a really magic time here: exploring their open burren farm lands and then cozying up in the caravan. It was lovely. I would love to go back here someday.
