Your stay will be in your own private bungalow! You have a complete kitchen to whip up a meal or late night snack and a refrigerator where you can keep your "beverages"!
Kids can sleep downstairs and you and your bride/groom/partner can sleep upstairs on a king bed.
We are off the beaten track, so you tend to have a little more quiet here for wonderful sleeping. It is an easy walk to shopping, eating and the beach, so entertainment is not difficult!
Your cabin is fully contained. If you don't want to go out and want to just relax, just do it! You have your own kitchen and the grocery is on the way to the cabin, so come prepared and spend the day relaxing!
We have a common area that all guests can enjoy. There is an outdoor shower to rinse off the salt water and lots of trees and plants to enjoy.
Interaction with Guests
We live on the premises, so If you see us out in the common area, come out and say hello! We will usually head down to the beach at some point of the day, so tag along if you wish!!
We are situated just 600 meters from the beach, in a quiet area of Tamarindo. We are close enough to the bars and hot spots, but far enough away not to get the loud noises from the late night happenings! The grocery is a short walk, so finding some food or beverages to keep in your cabin will be easy!
We take your security seriously, so our gate is padlocked and you will need to tell us your time of arrival to be sure we are there to meet you.
There are plenty of tour companies in Tamarindo that will pick you up here at the cabins. Costa Rica has a pretty good bus system to get you from San Jose to Tamarindo, or from Tamarindo to just about anywhere you want to go!
Getting around town is pretty easy if you are a good walker. We also have a couple bikes we will rent for the day if you'd like a little easier way to see the town!
Other Things to Note
To help keep the cost of renting our cabins low, please help us conserve electricity. Electric costs are quite high here in Costa Rica, so if you are leaving for the day, please turn off the AC, the lights and the fans. The cabin will cool down quickly when you return and you don't waste electricity! Thanks so much.
We just ask that you keep the other tenants in mind when partying in your cabin. Try to keep the noise down especially after 8pm and before 8am.
Also, we will lock the gate around 8pm each night. Be sure you know how to get back in if you are going to be out!! And always close the gate behind you and re-lock it if it was locked when you entered.
Bob & Sue's cabins have that cottage & homey feeling to it. Furthermore, it is in a safe neighbourhood, close to main strip and the beach. Bob & Sue are kind, informative and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely love to come back.
Lot's of space in this 2 story house, nice open concept upper and lower half. Secure environment, it shows that it must be one the Bob & Sue's top priorities. Bob & Sue were friendly & caring hosts. They demonstrated a genuine interest in sharing all that Tamarindo has to offer. Bob & Sue warmly greeted us and continued to ensure that we were well looked after.
Awesome time, bob and sue are as nice as they come. They have an awesome dog named Bella too.
Bob and Sue were completely delightful. My boyfriend and I feel like we have made some true friends in Tamarindo. We were treated like family with a BBQ early in our visit and any help/ assistance we needed in our stay they were there for us!
The place was very clean and had everything we needed in terms of soap in the shower and the basic cooking supplies and dishes. Air conditioning kept the place cool and comfortable.
It felt wonderful to be a part of a little cabin community for our week stay. I would not hesitate to recommend their blue cabins for a short or longer stay in Tamarindo. I really appreciate their hospitality and feel lucky I got to meet them!
Before making the reservation I confirmed with hosts that the wifi worked well. When we arrived it didn't work at all so we ventured around town to find a new hotel. town was very full but we found one for the last 2 nights of our stay. Bob agreed that we should have a refund since wifi is integral for our jobs. The next day we were at first refunded $200 out of $336 which was a bit pricey for one night considering no wifi as promised but we needed to move and we all agreed on it. The hosts didn't seem thrilled we were leaving but they knew wifi was vital to us. we moved to hotel Flores where the wifi was remarkable. The 1 night at the cabin was fine but basic. bed was comfy, only AC upstairs though and no hot water. In general, nice hosts but paying $100+ a night for a basic cabin, no wifi, no hot water and isn't something I think is fair deal. I have a dog and love dogs, but their dog would bark at us every single time we entered property too. I think if they can get the wifi thing going and hot water it would be a value better.
It is really too bad that the internet company was repairing the internet when you were here. Typically it is strong and quick and we had missed having it terribly as well! Regarding the hot water, the shower is on an instant-hot system, so the slower the water runs through the shower head, the warmer it gets. Sometimes people don't notice if the hand held sprayer is also on, and if it is the water flow is altered as well. We are glad you found a place that had internet! Most of our friends said nobody had it that weekend!
The reservation was canceled 21 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We stayed in cabin #3. As described the cabins are a five minute walk to the beach, towards the south side, which IMHO is the better part of the beach - clean, quiet and beautiful. The north side has all the surfers, breaks and some rocks along with most of the crowd/tourists.
Bob and Sue are both laid-back, and were available when we needed them.
However, the two things that made our stay less than desirable was the fact that there are two dogs (Tina & Bella) who from the moment we arrived till when we left, would race, snarl and constantly bark at us, even when we opened the door.
We gave them treats and tried to get them used to us to no avail. Bob & Sue were unable to do much in terms of controlling them, nor did they keeps the dogs on a leash/chain.
The second issue is the shower in cabin #3. Unless you are 5' 9 or taller the shower will just reach your head. To me location, peace & quiet, and bathroom/shower are the three most important things I look for. I did bring this up to Bob, however he said there is nothing he can do.
Again, if neither of the above two are an issue for you, then the location is great and I would recommend staying here.
Unfortunately for us, we were unaware of these two issues prior to arriving, and this really dampened our time at the cabins to the point that while we chose to extend our stay in the Tamarindo area (we found a place close by for half the cost), we did not stay at this location. We saw another family come in and the dogs snapped and snarled at them too. Very disconcerting, because you never knew when you might get bitten, and then the entire vacation would go south.
Best of luck Bob and Sue, hopefully you will be able to find a solution to both these issues at the earliest.
