Interaction with Guests
We like to meet guests when they arrive just to say hi, show them around and see if they have any questions about where to eat or what to do in the area. We often check in with our guests in passing to make sure everything is going well, answer any questions or see if they would like any other suggestions for accessing whatever it is that they would like to see or do. We presume our guests are here to relax and enjoy themselves. We like to enhance that experience as much as possible!
We live in a very rural area (you are likely to see deer & other wild life on your way to town) but, we are just 5 minutes from the town of Fort Bragg, 10 minutes from the famous Glass Beach and headlands of MacKerricher State Park and 20 minutes from the village of Mendocino as well as several other state parks.
Bicycle, walking or car are the best ways to get around the neighborhood or into town, to the beach etc.
Other Things to Note
Some of the birds that have visited our yard:
Violet Green Swallow (nest in our bird houses), Cliff Swallows (nest under our eaves), Hummingbirds (several types), Goldfinches, Ravens, Redtail Hawks, House Finches, Robins, Varied Thrushes, Blue Jays, Stellar Jays, Mourning Doves, Pigeons, White Crowned Sparrows (a colony lives in yard), Fox Sparrows, Flickers, California Quail, to name a few.
1) There is a double futon couch in the room. It will accommodate one adult. There is an additional $30 charge for a person per night. A double mattress cover, sheets, blankets and pillows for the futon are located in the cabinet behind the entrance door.
2) Dishes are provided for simple meals, however we ask that any dishes with food residue NOT be rinses in the bathroom sink or tub. We provide a stainless steel basin (inside the cabinet behind the entry door) which can be left outside the door and we will wash the dishes and return them. Bathroom drains have stoppers which when combined with food residue leads to plumbing problems. Rinsing coffee and tea cups is not a problem. Thanks!
3) Please hang wet towels on the towel rack over the toilet, on the towel rack next to the shower or over the shower curtain pole only. Thanks!
4) Please be gentle letting the blinds down. Blinds are delicate creatures if they are dropped hard.
5) When closing the blind on the door for privacy, remember to clip it into the hold down bracket. this ensures that it does not fly around when the door is opened and shut. Thank you!
6) The bank of cabinets on the North wall are locked and are for the hosts use only.
7 Please let us know if anything is not functioning or if you are having difficulty operating anything. We will be happy to help. This will also lets us know if something needs improvement or repair. Enjoy you stay!
Staying at the Photographer's Studio has been one of the highlights of our summer! The studio is so clean you feel as if you are the first guest to have stayed at this special spot. The cupboards are well stocked with everything you might need or may have forgotten to bring and Anne always places fresh flowers in the room.
The studio sits in the middle of a garden-it is delightful to have the windows open and feel the breeze and watch the hummingbirds.
This is our third visit, and by now it feels like home-we cant wait to return!
This beautiful space is what AirBnB is all about! The room is spacious, immaculate, and full of light. Inspiring photography lines the walls. Coffee, tea, and freshly harvested plums greeted us. The room is located just outside Ft Bragg, so it feels quiet and private. We brought our bikes and enjoyed riding to town and along the beach. We also had help identifying local birds from Anne, who is works with Audubon Society! We loved our stay and appreciated the thoughtful accommodations.
The photographer studio is a beautiful location to stay at near Mendocino. The room is spotless and has beautiful artwork which makes it all the more appealing. Just a stones throw away from the coast and Anne was very hospitable and nice, can't wait to come back again!
We had a perfect weekend at Anne and Bill's place. Anne welcomed us so warmly and we felt immediately at home on their beautiful property! The studio was clean and light filled with beautiful photographs by Bill. Their neighborhood is so peaceful at the edgeof town where the redwoods begin. A perfect blend of ocean, town and woods. Thank you for a wonderful weekend Anne!
Absolutely loved our experience here! My wife and I stayed here to get away for a couple days before baby #2 comes and it was a great retreat. Anne was very friendly and gave some great suggestions for places to eat. Bed was comfy, dogs were sweet, and everything was so nice in the room with everything we needed. We will definitely be back!
What a fantastic experience! Anne & Bill have done a tremendous job with their space. The studio is impeccably and tastefully decorated; the beds are comfortable, the yard and gardens are wonderful; the dogs are ADORABLE and sooo friendly, etc. etc.
Anne was easy to reach by text, and she met us at the gate to get us settled in. She had great recommendations for the town and nearby area. In total, we had a great time, and I would come back without hesitation.
One nice thing not immediately evident from the listing, the studio is *just* far enough from town to feel tranquil, but close enough that it only takes a few minutes to reach groceries, CVS, cafes/restaurants and great beaches.
Regarding the dining supplies at the studio, as long as you aren't excited about cooking yourself a big dinner there is more than enough. Anne has stocked the place with coffee and many kinds of tea, and ample dishes and silverware for small impromptu or leftover meals. They even do your dishes for you. If you're staying in Fort Bragg, you should be going out for seafood anyways!
Ok I'm done gushing. (Great job :D)
Wow! What a beautiful spot for a relaxing weekend in Fort Bragg! We loved the photographer's studio and our amazing host, Anne! The space is beautifully decorated, extremely clean and welcoming. No detail went unnoticed...maps on the wall, brochures available for local sites, coffee and creamer in the fridge, we settled right in and felt totally at home. The photo's on the walls were stunning! Anne was such a wonderful host, chatting with us about local site, giving us suggestions, and just making us feel so welcome!
About the Host, Anne & Bill
Bill & Anne are native Northern Californians. Bill has lived in Ireland and Anne has lived in Spain, Italy & Mexico, as well. Bill spent the last 20 years working as a fine art photographer and traveling as much as possible. Anne had a wholesale jewelry company with her sister and traveled to Mexico frequently, where her jewelry was handmade, as well as throughout the United States to exhibit at trade shows. Now we like to stay close to home, Anne particularly likes to be out working in our large garden. We still appreciate the spirit of travel and intend to stay connected to that through Airbnb. We have one daughter who will begin attending college in Western Massachusetts in August…it looks like we are going to be exploring being airbnb guests on the East Coast soon. We live with two lovable Australian Shepherds.
