John and Sara were wonderful and generous hosts. The property was AMAZING. Comfortable beds and as people have mentioned, breathtaking views, fresh fruit and herbs, a huge pool, sweet dogs, and cute pest-controlling lizards and coquís!
Even though we were early and without phone/internet, John welcomed us in and gave us recommendations for places that were off the beaten path. We would definitely go back and recommend this place to people who want a nice and quiet retreat from the busy city.
John and Sara were very warm and hospitable hosts, available when we needed them and full of information about El Yunque. They maintain a beautiful property with fresh fruit, a huge pool, and beautiful trees and flowers. We would recommend this place for anyone looking for a rainforest experience!
I can't believe how lucky were were to find this place! The grounds were incredible--a huge, delightful pool surrounded by lush tropical garden; a flowing river down below that you can wade into and stand in, hearing the jungle sounds around you; banana and coconut trees overhead, shading you between the gorgeous rain showers; and the perfectly, simply appointed apartment, with a balcony overlooking all this gorgeousness--with a view all the way to the sea.
John (Sara was away for a couple of days in the states) was an incredible host too. He suggested all the things we would have otherwise missed (including a truly excellent rainforest hike that we would never have found--at the back of the picnic tables on the south entrance to El Yunque) and was available for help, but not at all intrusive. He left us some guava from the property to complement our breakfast, which we enjoyed on the balcony. Like others have said, the place is even nicer than the photos.
A note on the east side of the Island: we spent days at gorgeous beaches and were often the only ones around--there were not many tourists and it was overall an excellent and relaxing trip. I highly, highly recommend this place for those looking for a non-touristy, nature-lovin' but comfortable place to stay. You'll need a car. We also enjoyed picking up groceries and cooking meals at night, but you can also rock some mofongo and medalla (local beer) at a nearby restaurant near the sea, about a ten-fifteen minute drive away near Punta Santiago. We hope to be back soon!
You can tell John has spent a lot of time updating and maintaining his property both the building and the yard. John is a great host and tries his hardest to accommodate the needs of his guests. He keeps the pool meticulously clean. The rooms are spacious but a little close together. We had the whole place to ourselves not sure how it would be if all four units were rented.
John was a magnificent host. The accommodations were incredible. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful place to stay. The security was good. We enjoyed watching the wildlife and the stars from the balcony.
Hacienda Moyano was a real treat ! John was an excellent host, he greeted us late at night upon arrival and prepared coffee and fresh home grown fruit in the morning. The place is beautiful and very well kept .. Listen to John as he is a Guru for local happenings. He recommended we check out a street party (Beer festival) in Naguabo that quickly became a highlight of the trip!
Thanks John, we will surely be back soon!
We had a wonderful, restful stay at Hacienda Moyano. The property is beautiful. The balcony overlooks the jungle and you can see the ocean. We were lulled to sleep by the coqui every night. John and Sara were great hosts, offering fresh fruit in the morning as we chatted about all the places to explore. Close to El Yunque Rainforest, Bio bay, and beaches. Definitely want to come back.
We loved our stay at John and Sara's. It was the perfect relaxation we needed before attending an eventful wedding. There is something about their property that really just puts your mind and body at ease. My husband and I really experienced this when, somehow in the middle of our first day staying in the apartment we slipped into a nap, for the first time in who knows how long.
The property alone would have made our visit worth it. It looks as though John and Sara must have an army keeping their grounds, but somehow the two of them handle it on their own (along with accommodating for their guests excellently). All of the nature and enormous pool provide for a scenic and fun-filled location.
The apartment we stayed in at John and Sara's was a perfect fit for us. Though we really like to eat out, we also really enjoy cooking. We cooked 2 meals (1 fairly complicated) in the apartment and found everything we needed in the kitchen or something close to it. I really wish we could have stayed longer and could see ourselves returning to John and Sara's in the future for a much more extended stay to really get a chance to further enjoy their hospitality, their grounds, and beautiful apartments they have designed.
John was a great host and the room was spotless. We arrived after dark and decided to head back to town to get something to drink and John brought us some of the "house" drink to try! The views are amazing and the sounds of the coqui will lull you to sleep. I slept really well both nights of our stay. We didn't spend much time on the property as we were out exploring. I think if we come back I'd like to do a bit more relaxing by the huge pool!
John was very accommodating, offering advice on things to do and checking in to see if we needed anything.
The only issue we had was with wifi. There is wifi, but the password we got didn't work. Not a huge deal as I could use data to check email, but it would have made it easier to research our plans.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed your visit, sorry about the Internet, you should have mentioned it when I checked if you needed anything, From our house rules>( WIFI ONLY WORKS IF YOU ASK FOR THE KEY and if the provider is up, we have no control over the service.) We don't offer Wifi It's just an extra, if it works, you don't pay for it. Hope to see you soon ;)
