Treefrog Tower offers a truly unique Outer Banks getaway, nestled in the trees of a private 9 acre pine forest on the border Jockey's Ridge State Park. You may literally walk out our driveway to 450 acres of hiking trails, sound-side beaches, kayaking, kiteboarding, etc. It's a 3-minute drive to the nearest beach access and some favorite local restaurants. The cozy location offers total privacy, facing into the woods with windows everywhere for lots of treetop filtered sunshine.

The space
We’ve created a comfortable, modern yet bohemian space for you. Everything has been hand-crafted and built by my artist husband. The shady porch is a little sitting area perfect for morning coffee, happy hours and meals. The first floor is a living area, kitchenette and bathroom, and the upstairs bedroom features a queen bed and a 270 degree view of the trees. The treetops off the bedroom are strung with twinkle lights for added effect.

Treefrog tower is fully furnished, with everything we could think of that you would need for comfort and ease, and then some. There is a microwave & toaster oven, and a blender so mealtime is easy (as well as all the utensils and kitchen items you would need). A TV in the bedroom with cable and HBO, etc. and of course WIFI! Plus HVAC and ceiling fans to keep you comfortable….

Location
We are tucked into the woods and right on the edge of Jockey’s Ridge State Park (which is the largest sand dune on the east coast) with it’s spectacular sunsets, hikes and sound beaches.

We are also just 2 blocks as the crow flies to the closest beach access in Nags Head but there are many to choose from! A short 3-minute drive or a 10 minute bike ride (though you have to cross the Bypass). Plus a beautiful soundside beach is just 500 feet away - a great spot to watch the sun set over the water.

If you are searching for more of a deserted island feel - Pea Island is just a short 20 mintue drive away, with miles of empty beach!

Also, Nags Head is the only beach that does allow bonfires (with a permit from the fire department)...a beautiful way to spend an evening.

There is so much! We have a book with recommendations and ideas for you and of course we are happy to help you decide! But Tortuga’s Lie (featured on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives), Blue Moon Beach Grill, the Nags Head Pier or Grits Grill for breakfast and the Outer Banks Pier (happy hour, shrimp & burgers!) are some of our favorites. We love Surfin’ Spoon for your frozen yogurt cravings. And Country Deli (who will deliver to a beach access!) & Stop & Shop make the best sandwiches! For Pizza delivery Slice is our go-to. Many places have live music most nights as well.

For Kayak and Sailing tours we love envirOBX. For surf lessons we love Outer Banks Surf School and FarmDogs. There’s lots of great yoga on the beach (including my studio Outer Banks Yoga). Hang-gliding lessons from Kitty Hawk Kites and they launch from Jockey’s Ridge. The adventures are endless!

We can guide you to the best surf spots of course, and if you are a kite-boarder – the sound beach by our house is a popular launch site. If headed south Rodanthe and REAL WATERSPORTS headquarters are about 35 minutes away.

We are a family of artists and surfers who left the hustle of downtown DC in search of a quieter existence with waves, wind, and open skies. We love hosting, and are dedicated to creating and offering the most unique Airbnb properties found on the Outer Banks. We love sharing Treefrog Tower, Hello Bungalow, and our newest property The Wedge. We are constantly looking for ways to create the very best and most memorable experiences for our guests.
