Krystina could be the best host we ever had :) ... she was warm-hearted, friendly and helpful. Her studio is in a nice, calm neighbourhood in the moutains above Montreux. The trains needs 20 minutes from Montreux-mainstation to "Les Avantes" for 7.20. The ride with the train involves a great view over the whole area. Back to Montreux you can also walk through the forest in 1:30h... which is also very nice. The bed is comfy, the W-Lan is fast. You can cook a little with one stove and a microwave (also for pizza). Long story short: Go and meet Kristyna, she is great and her appartement too.
If you are searching for authentic Switzerland landscapes, this is the place to be
The studio is big enough for a couple it is cozy and clean the bed is comfortable
The hosts are very friendly
I strongly recommend it
Thank you for this nice stay we will surely come back
We wish we could have stayed more than two days
Kristyna made us feel most welcome and even cooked us fresh bread for breakfast as we woke up to a wonderful and sunny mountainside view. She even went out of her way to provide us with the extra toiletries that we need after travelling light on bicycles. It was an ideal stop over for a cycle tour of the region, even if the climb up the mountain was a huge challenge!
Krystina was very kind with us and gave us more facilities than expected. She helped us with our baby.
The apartment is very nice (as showed in the photos) and the enviroment and sights are wonderful.
Kristyna made me feel very welcome and at ease on my arrival, including sharing a coffee and cake. The flat is easy to find if you follow Kristyna's directions in the photo section. It is a steep (but thankfully short) walk up from the station.
The flat is simple, but relaxing and comfortable. I eat out most times, but if you do prepare food then having a breakfast, watching the sun rise across the valley, or a late night snack on the terrace, under the stars above with the tinkle of the cow-bells gradually subsiding, is thoroughly recommended. There is a café-restaurant (Le Relais) in the village which looked promising but is closed on Monday's. Otherwise, there is a 'Coop' food outlet just outside Montreux station which has most things.
I was comfortable in the flat. The WiFi was ok, but it did lose streaming BBC Radio 4 over my phone on several occasions.
The best feature of the flat for me is it's location. It is set in a quiet rural valley. There is an excellent approx 2hr walk – just take the funicular by the rail station up to Sonloup, then follow the trail. Great just after first light, but I'm sure lovely at evening-time, too. The train continues from Les Avants over the mountains towards Gstaad and is a treat. There is good service to Montreux (approx 15mins) which has excellent rail/lake boat links to many other locations.
I enjoyed my break and found Kristyna a really helpful, knowledgeable and welcoming host. I would not have any hesitation in returning to this beautiful part of the world and staying here again.
A lovely little studio up in the hills! We were met by Krystyna's husband who was lovely and gave us some tips on where to eat. The studio was clean, comfortable and had beautiful views.
Krsityna's little studio is the perfect get away from the usual hustle and bustle of a busy city or town. The view from the studio is amazing, all day long you can hear the bells from the cows, goats and sheep grazing on the hills. It's close to the train station so it's very easy to travel around nearby towns and cities.
