Salty Towers Room 3 is a bright corner room with views to the harbour across the street. It has a double bed and a single pull out couch & private bathroom ensuite. It is one of 10 rooms in the house & can be booked for one night or many nights. Usually all guests have the use of a kitchen space (we do not serve meals unless by special arrangement) and common areas in the house, including a great front porch. During Covid-19 we are having to limit the use of these spaces.

The space
Salty Towers has been called a Chateau Alternatato by some and is certainly not for everyone. It is more of a guest house/hostel than traditional B&B. It is certainly not sophisticated or high end! Rooms are not huge, nor are any two alike.

The building is a 170 year old former Sea Captain's home. It became a boarding house in 1918 and then a summer accommodation facility - The Seaside Inn - in 1921, operated by the captain's daughter Marjorie, who ran it for 68 years. We purchased the property after her death in 1994 and reopened it as Salty Towers.

In addition to family and other guests we have two cats, Kyle and Moustache who come and go as they please. They generally keep to themselves.

We do not serve meals and as a result of Covid-19 we have to limit the use of kitchen facilities for guests. We can make coffee and tea for those needing a liquid start to their day.

Where you’ll be

Saint Andrews, New Brunswick, Canada

St Andrews is our neighbourhood. The town is a national treasure. The architecture, the art, the history. Many say "It all started here"! It was just upriver at St Croix Island where French explorers initiated the first permanent European settlement north of the Carolina's. Through time Canada evolved.

We enjoy life and the world around us. James has worked as a scientist, educator, innkeeper, artist, naturalist and artist manager. Deb as a child youth worker and server. Music, travel and food have always been a part of our lives and we love to share stories and opportunities with others. We have 3 kids between us, one a wildlife rehabilitation worker, another a touring musician and the third an arts administrator/community developer.

During your stay

Salty Towers is our HOME. We live in the house and are generally around. We encourage guests to ask questions about the house, the town, what to do, where to go and who to meet. We enjoy a drink on the porch and at times find ourselves immersed with guests in wonderful communal meals.
