  • Giuliano and Nadia are a caring and joyful couple. I exchanged many emails with Nadia before my arrival and she was very prompt in answering all my questions about the place and the neighbourhood. The house is very pretty, with a view on the stretch of the (website hidden) Alessandrino. Even during scorching hot Caronte days the well ventilated flat gave us some relief. Tor Pignattara's hood offers all comforts at walking distance and it's well connected to the rest of the city. Thanks a lot and good luck with future hosting!

  • We chose this as a base in Rome, where we could have the convenience of an apartment with a little commute over a hotel room closer to the historical center. We were happy with our choice. Guiliano and his wife Nadia were very helpful with everything and had written instructions of using their apartment and commuting. Guiliano was heroic in helping us negotiate the drive to the Hertz car return office near Termini, and bringing us back in his car. It wasn't hard to get to his place from the ring road, but getting to Hertz would have been a challenge. Guiliano also showed us a few useful places in the neighborhood as he drove us home from Hertz.

Their apartment is on the 3rd floor, a good hike, but not most of the places we stayed in Italy had stairs too, and touring Rome has plenty of stairs and hills. Their bath was good and clean, and my partner thought it was the best shower we had in Italy with plenty of hot water and more space than usual. The kitchen is very good, with a big stove top and a fridge with some basic supplies, plenty of dishes and pans. They had a washing machine which was nice after three weeks of traveling. Their apartment has a life time of mementos and lovingly collected books and pictures with some nice antiques and a very warm feeling.

They have a TV with cable with more stations that I've seen but none in English, no CNN or BBC. The bed is a futon style but big. The neighborhood is a mix of middle and working class with immigrants from all over, Africa, China, India, Pakistan, the Middle East among others, with stores and shops from various groups. There are lots of internet points because of the immigrants, unlike other parts of Italy where they are scarce. There are lots of fresh produce places with very friendly owners.
It is a 'real' Roman neighborhood with stores for ordinary people, unlike the expensive shops around tourist places. The commute to the center of Rome was manageable, with a bus ride three stops to the Metro, or an urban train to Termini very close.

The street has typical street noise for Rome, but Rome is a noisy city no matter where you stay. You can sleep with the windows and shutters closed to cut down the noise and leave the kitchen and bath windows open for air.

I've stayed in the historical center in years past when it was much cheaper, and it is nice to be able to walk around till late. But for this trip and for the price we thought this was an excellent place to stay. It was everything we hoped for.

  • We had a wonderful time in Casina Cencelli where we stayed for a week. It is located in a historically popular are of Rome now home to many different communities. The result is a great mix of traditional Roman families and grandmas/pas sitting in the sun next to your little Chinese corner shop. It is 20min from Termini station to the South of Rome, conveniently close to a tram and bus stop. Transportation was never a problem. The area is very safe, and has many nice restaurants and local caffes. The apartment in itself is very clean and very spacious for 2. Great Wifi. It is Nadia and Giuliano's Roman home where they keep their memories, books (more books!) and a wonderful kitchen. The kitchen is truly great and makes you want to cook, Italian style!! On a sunny day so much light comes in it is properly ridiculous. One thing to note for sound-sensitive people: you can hear most of what is going on in the street, although you are on the 3rd floor, and sometimes Italians can get noisy/loud!

  • My wife and I enjoyed staying in Nadia & Giuliano's flat. They were both very helpful and gave us lots of useful information when we arrived - plus lots to eat ! :) The bus and tram stops nearby meant if was easy to get into the centre of Rome. Would recommend staying there. Thanks :)

  • My girlfriend and I had a wonderful stay at Casina Cencelli. The apartment is very comfortable and in a great neighborhood. Some snacks and a bottle of wine were even provided. Be aware that it is on the third floor with no lift. The directions to the apartment were slightly confusing, so be sure you have a map when locating it. Overall, the apartment is great, surrounded by some excellent restaurants, and you cannot beat feeling at home in Rome!

  • Nadia and Giuliano were the the nicest hosts we've ever had. We had the pleasure to stay in their beautiful casina for 11 days. Their apartment was well equiped and even the fridge was full of food, bought for us. Both Nadia and Giuliano welcomed us when we arrived there.

  • We had a lovely time staying at Nadia and Giuliano's flat for 10 days over Christmas/New Year. The flat was very tidy and comfortable, had everything we needed and we felt instantly at home. Nadia and Giuliano were delightful hosts. They gave us a lot of information and left us with maps and travel guides of Rome. They also provided our first breakfast food and Giuliano kindly booked a local restaurant for us for Christmas Day. The neighbourhood is lively with many shops and restaurants. There is plenty of public transport nearby to travel to the centre of beautiful Rome.

    Response from Giuliano:

  • My son and I spent 10 days at Casina Cencelli and cannot say enough good things about our hosts and our stay. Nadia responded to our questions very quickly, she provided wonderful information about the neighborhood and suggestions on how to get to the busses. The apartment is warm and comfortable with everything needed to cook and to relax. Nadia and Giuliano provided a much appreciated breakfast on our arrival and stocked the fridge with juice and ice cream! The neighborhood is very safe, and the transportation system is very easy to use. We were downtown within 20 minutes and very easily located all the sights. We had a lovely time and would certainly return! Thank you Nadia and Giuliano!

  • We lived at Casina apartment from 25 of september to 15 of October 2013. Everything was good. Apartment is cozy, very clean, commodious, secure and safety. There is special, fine, artistic atmosphere at home There are clean air and a lot of light throgh the window. The apartment has everything, that we needed. Bedroom and kitchen are very comfortable. There is a refrigerator, a gas cooker, everything for cooking. There is a grocery store with reasonable prices near the house. The apartment is located not so far to the subway station. Apartment is very nice. Nadia and Giuliano are very good hosts, they are beautiful, dependable, contemporary, responsible, intelligent people, sociable, with sense of humor. This is a pleasant acquaintance and intercourse in every way . We had many good advice from Nadia and Giuliano. They have given a lot of valuable advice for tourists. We are very satisfied and happy. Recommend definitely. We are grateful to Nadia and Giuliano. October 2013

  • Guliano and Nadia were the perfect hosts, going well beyond the call of duty during my time in Rome. Not only did they pick me up at the train station and arrange taxi transportation on my way out of town, but they also made sure that the kitchen was stocked with food upon my arrival. The apartment is a little bit outside the center, but Guliana and Nadia presented all of the options for getting to the city (they also have tons of city maps in the kitchen to ensure that you never get lost) and answered all of my questions about the neighborhood and Rome in general. Overall it was a positive and memorable experience. The only thing missing was a microwave, but apparently, not having one is the custom in Rome, and when in Rome...
