SAN LUIS OBISPO: “THE HAPPIEST PLACE IN AMERICA”
The "Irish Hills House" at the top of Prefumo Canyon has the Best View in SLO with stunning 180-degree views stretching from ocean, valley, mountain and cityscape. This spot is about the incredible view, convenient proximity to SLO and Cal Poly, central location between LA & SF and surrounding activities and experiences.
Most common guest comment, "The photos do not do the views justice!"
Our pet-friendly vacation rental has two bedrooms with a king bed downstairs and three queen beds upstairs. We store an additional reserve queen size futon, roll away bed and a 2014 "Pack n' Play" for babies. There are bathrooms on each level, a large outfitted modern kitchen, potbelly stove for cozy nights and a large outdoor deck. There are great views from every window!
The coastal retreat halfway between LA and SF is a short 15 minute scenic drive to downtown SLO (Thursday Night Farmer’s Market, restaurants, nightlife etc.) and beautiful Avila Beach (spectacular beach, pier, shops, wineries, etc). Famous Avila and Sycamore Mineral Springs offer a therapeutic experience in a group setting or privately in secluded tubs set amongst the tree-canopied hillside. You are in a serene and peaceful setting, but not too far from all the action!
We are on 8 mountain top acres with world class views, hikes and wildlife right outside your door. Barbecue, share a meal and wine on the deck or picnic down by the raised garden beds. We invite our guests to enjoy fresh vegetables and eggs from the gardens and henhouse, so help yourself! In addition to our chickens, we have a pet tortoise named "Walter" and a Koi Pond in front of the Irish Hills House.
The vacation rental is well suited to romantic & girls getaways, family friendly & cal poly parents stays, adventure seekers & coastal journeys.
This is a dedicated Airbnb, which is professionally cleaned before each guest's arrival with clean and fresh, sheets and towels. The house is maintained in pristine condition in preparation to offer a "hotel-clean" experience amongst breathtaking mountain-top views in nature and tranquility.
The Irish Hills House is across a deck from our main home. We respect boundaries and the experience is intimate and free of distraction.
We run almost full occupancy, so if you see an opening and you are ready - please book! It happens too often that we discuss a booking with a potential guest and someone else "instant books". This is always a bummer!
See you soon!

Great stay with Ryan and Anna! Highly recommend this place, friendly dog 'Bandit' is a champ
It's a long, curvy climb up the mountain to get to Ryan's mountaintop retreat -- but so worth it. The view is breathtaking. The house layout is a little odd, though. The "Irish Hills House" is actually an apartment built over a garage. The place is just across the deck from Ryan's house. So he and co-host Anna are present and accessible. The apartment has two floors. One the main floor is a large L-shaped sofa and just behind it is a king-size bed. So if four people are staying there, it's a little awkward. At bedtime, one couple has to beat a retreat to the upstairs bedroom. Otherwise, the apartment is well-equipped with kitchen gear, a nice coffee maker and coffee, and quality wine glasses. The deck, well-advertised in Ryan's tantalizing photo, is amazing -- comfortable chairs with a spectacular view of clouds, hills, and on a clear day. Morro Bay. There are two big deficiencies in the place, both of which Ryan intends to address. First, the Internet connection is so anemic that it's hard for multiple people to get strong wi-fi. Second, the apartment has no screens, which allows the occasional fly to buzz into the house when you open the windows for fresh air. But the pros far outweigh the cons. We loved gathering eggs from Anna's chicken coop just down the hill. We loved tossing leftovers and vegetables into the enclosure occupied by Walter the turtle. And we loved feeding dog treats to the neighbor's golden retriever, who is a persistent and affectionate presence around the property.
I hope that you enjoyed the remainder of your trip! Response to concerns: The high speed wifi was fixed on August 12, which is the day you departed. Anna discussed and explained this to you directly during your trip. Anna also explained that the screens had been recently thrown away by the window washers and she has since ordered new ones. I believe that the photographs are true and the description accurate for the Irish Hills House. We are disappointed that your stay was less than ideal and wish you well on your future travels.
We werden vriendelijk ontvangen.
The Mountain top stay was truly on the mountain top, we drove 10 minutes up a beautiful winding road through pastures with grazing cows. The view driving up was spectacular and we were greeted by Anna who gave us a tour and set us up on the patio right as the sun was setting.
The accomodation itself is very comfortable and clean. We had chocolates on our pillows and a half dozen farm eggs waiting for us when we got there.
The house is only 10mins from Wholefoods and a bunch of other ammenities so we were able to buy ingredients to make a great meal at the house and enjoy it on the patio.
I was also lucky enough to find an egg in the chicken coop the next morning for breakfast which was the highlight of my stay.
We were only here for one night before we headed on to Big Sur and Ryan gave us some great food recommendations for Big Sur. I would highly recommend staying with Ryan and Anna.
Thanks for the nice review. I am glad that you enjoyed the eggs. We love them too and we are always trying to figure out new ways to prepare eggs because we have so many! Lately, I have been preparing breakfast burritos in batches to have ready for quick morning breakfasts!
