The Space

Stay at the former MTV Real World House! Beautiful, big and bright master bedroom suite with stunning views of the ocean. The suite measures 700 sq. ft. and has a really comfortable California king sized bed, a sitting area with a sofa and a separate reading area with a chaise lounge and lots of good books. There's wireless internet access, a flat screen TV with HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, and Starz, and a DVD player with lots of cool DVDs. The breakfast area has a microwave, electric tea kettle, coffee maker, small refrigerator and dinnerware service for four with utensils. The room also has a private balcony where you can enjoy breakfast while you watch the ocean, surfers and sailboats.

The master bathroom is very spacious (110 sq. ft.) with a big walk in shower and two separate sink consoles. Bathroom towels, (beach towels too), sunscreen, blow dryer and all toiletries you'd expect to find in a hotel room are all included.

As our guest, you have access to a 400 sq. ft. rooftop deck with an amazing panoramic million dollar view of the mountains, city, and ocean where you can hang out on the chaise lounges and take advantage of the year round good weather. Beach chairs and boogie boards are also provided when you head out to the beach.

Our lovely house is located on a great walk street only steps to the beach. The master bedroom suite is located on the 3rd floor of our 4,500 sq. ft. home. You enter through the side door of our house, but be assured your privacy is most important to us. The location is unbeatable. Just walk out the door and there are lots of fun and really easy things to do and see. The beach, bike paths, restaurants, shops, Venice Boardwalk, Venice Canals and Abbot Kinney Street are all within walking distance. The Santa Monica Pier and Third Street Promenade are a bike or bus ride away. Malibu, Westwood, Century City, Beverly Hills and Hollywood are just a 25-35 minute car ride (depending on traffic). We're 6.7 miles from LAX airport.

The king sized bed sleeps two and a comfortable queen sized air mattress is available for two more guests. An indoor parking space in our home garage can be arranged for a daily fee.

You'll love the laid back atmosphere and great location our home has to offer. Once you're here, you won't want to leave. Please write with any questions or for more information. I'm here to help. Hope to hear from you soon!

  • My husband and I had a fabulous time at Dorothy's house!! Dorothy is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet! She was so kind and very helpful with any questions we had. We loved our gorgeous room! It was huge and has everything you need. The bed was very comfortable. We were steps from the beach and path. We rented bikes around the corner for the day and rode to Santa Monica and all around the canals of Venice. We loved the coffee across the street at Cow's End and also the fresh pressed juice. I highly recommend this place!!!

  • It was great. We have a amazing time over there.
The room was awesome. Dorothee was so sweet and friendly. Vacation from the first second.
    The best choice in Venice.
    Thanks and see you soon.

  • This was the most amazing stay I have ever had, I can't say enough good things. Dorothy and her family were so personable and pleasant to talk to. They made us feel like family. The room was wonderful. There was so much room for my sister, daughter and I. The room was clean and provided everything we needed. We were even provided with beach chairs, unbrellas and boogie boards for the beach (which is basically a block away). I would recommend anyone visiting Venice Beach to stay here as it an amazing place. We will for sure be staying here again. What a great experience!

  • What a great time we had staying at Dorothy's. The accommodation certainly exceeded our expectations and Dorothy was absolutely outstanding. The location was great, right on the pier at Venice beach, with restaurants and stores at your door step and still very quiet. We would certainly look to stay there again if the opportunity arose.

  • We had a fantastic stay with Dorothy and her family. She was very welcoming and a lot of fun to talk to! Besides that the house is amazing and in a fantastic location. My first Airbnb experience as it was probably intended: meeting a local and stay in a great location for a great price. If you are in doubt what to book in Venice/LA, pick this one :)

  • Very warmful, large, clean and nice Suite, very well equipped (including the bathroom with fresh towels), confortable bed and couch. A lovely private terrace from which you can see the ocean or have a drink at sunset !
The suite is located in a quiet and safe Venice area : nice restaurants and bars are at a walking distance close to Venice pier ; rental bikes are also available at the pier.
A special mention for the Mountain family who welcomed us very friendly and made us at ease immediately. Thanks ! We will be back for sure !

  • Living "LoCal" at this Venice Beach suite was true California. It all started with a sweet, easy going Cali welcome from Dorothy.

To really enjoy AirBnB, you have to accept that you may walk through people's houses. Staying here, you had to walk up to the third floor to enjoy a balcony and windows three blocks down from Venice Beach...what a vibe. Plus, we had access to the roof to enjoy the start/end of each day by just checking out the city, listening, looking, thinking.

Dorothy really had us in mind by leaving cars for our 1 and 3-year olds which were well received. Comfy bed and great inflatable with great TV if you enjoy that.

NO A/C was one surprise for us that I guess we had not read, but it made no difference. In fact, made it feel more local and we were comfy at night after 95+ degree days during a heat wave.

You can really enjoy being a part of the neighborhood with windows open, balcony, roof and best of all - easy walking to breakfast shop, a handful of decent restaurants and a market for fruits and drinks. It was not loud to us, but if you are easily bothered or picky, you may not enjoy an open wind with the sounds of neighbors living in Venice (not the muscle beach area).

Was a great base for us to get to Disney (40 minutes), Santa Monica (10 minutes), Malibu (40 minutes), Laguna, etc... But you can always just stick around Venice Beach.

Dorothy - thanks for being such a welcoming hostess and for making the community better!

  • The Mountain Beach House Suite is the perfect place at Venice Beach. Like an oasis the huge bedroom and the bathroom provides a room for retreat from busy beach life.
Everything was nicely organized and the place was very clean.
Dorothy and her husband Dan and their daughter Simone were very friendly, communicative and helpful.
It was a real pleasure to meet the Mountains and to spend some holidays at their suite.

  • We were a party of three guys staying at Dorothys and family for a week and we couldn't have been more happy and pleased with our choice.
The bed and the airbed were comfortable, the room big and spacey. The bathroom was also big with all the neccessarities(and more) we needed.
The fridge was perfect and came in handy, cooling some water and beer(mostly beer).
The rooftop access was great, being able to relax there which we did several times was really nice.
Since we are sports interested we did at some time use the TV to watch some sports and happy news for us was that there were alot of channels(not only sports, everything it seemed) so we did find what we were looking for every time.

This was the first time in Los Angeles for two of us and the other guy recommended the Venice Area as we were looking for a place to stay for a week. We were all very happy with our choice of Dorothys room, just a minute walk to the boardwalk of Venice beach and the ocean - but yet so quiet and peaceful.

There are more than a handful restaurants and pubs nearby which provide both good breakfast, lunch and dinner services at a decent price aswell.

The service we received from Dorothy was more than we ever could have imagined, way better than most hotels. We mostly met and spoke to Dorothy but they were all very friendly and helpful. Just as an example we were helped with laundries and when we needed to print some papers.

There was never a problem for us "only" having one room as it was spacey in this big and quiet house. We were never disturbed by the family and as far as I know neither did we bother them.

If I go back to Los Angeles I would definately consider to stay at Dorothys place again. We were extremely happy with the room & the area.

    Thank you for the stay!

  • The Mountain Beach House Suite is a wonderful B&B!!
It has everything and more; lots and lots of space, great bed, (also the air mattress that we needed for our son, was very comfortable), the large bathroom is complete and the whole place is beautifully decorated. It is quiet and the views are great, from the room and from the terrace on the roof. We called Dorothy when we were very close and she opened the garage door for us, which is nice, parking can be difficult there. Across the street you can get everything for a good breakfast and a wake-me-up coffee. But what made it all very special and memorable, was the warm welcome and inspiring talks with Dorothy and Dan... they are the ones that made our stay unforgettable!
By the way, this bed and breakfast is located in the relatively quiet area on Venice Beach, the very busy area with "the Reputation" is a few blocks away.

My name is Dorothy and I've lived in our beautiful Venice Beach home for the past sixteen years with my husband Dan and our daughter Simone. I'm originally from Pittsburgh, PA but have lived in California for thirty years. I'm the tenth child in a family of twelve children. I was a former advertising executive. I love the beach and feel very fortunate to live here. It's one of the best gifts I've been given in my life. I love riding my bike in the mornings and going out to dinner with my family at our neighborhood restaurants. I'd welcome the opportunity to host you!
