  • we had car trouble on the way to Monteverde. What a difficult road and a difficult trip. We got there very late, but they left a note and the key for us. very kind hosts with great language skills. Nice clean rooms and very quiet. The price was fair.I would definitely recommend it

  • Vitalis, Robert's father, was our primary host at the Sunset Hotel
We had the most positive experience here in Monteverde. Reasons
    we loved this location:
    1. Vitalis was the BEST! His warm welcome was particularly refreshing after the difficult trek over the gravel roads we had to travel to get to Monteverde. He set up our tours for night hike and coffee plantation (the latter which was one of the best experiences I had in Costa Rica). He provided a delicious breakfast and even brought hot coffee to my room! His grounds include a beautiful pathway through the woods. The view of the Nicoya Bay from the mountainside was beautiful. We saw two
rainbows during our overnight visit. The accomodations were simple but clean. Vitalis' warmth and hospitality as well as his knowledge of the area made this visit particularly special!
