Discover why GQ Magazine just named Brooklyn "The Greatest City on Earth" - and support one of NYC's best volunteer organizations!
We have a nicely furnished room with private bath and private balcony available in an amazing new walk-up penthouse (featured in a New York Times Real Estate cover story, and a recent episode of NBC's Today Show) - with Virtual Concierge service - less than a block from the subway. All the best of Williamsburg is within walking distance and the subway is right on our block, with Manhattan's Union Square is less than 10 minutes from your door!
The apartment is a 1,000sq ft duplex penthouse with a great layout, three private outdoor spaces (complete with grill), amazing southern and northern light, tree/sky/city views and a wonderful airy feel. All the great details are here: wide-plank ash wood floors, custom lighting, climate control, high-speed WiFi and color network printing, a gorgeous bathroom with Jacuzzi tub / rain shower, a CeasarStone & stainless steel kitchen with dishwasher and microwave, great closet space, a huge projection wall for Netflix, HBO, YouTube, etc., a modern indoor/outdoor fireplace and a really cool cat named Gizmo.
Your room has a very comfortable double bed with two roomy closets and organic cotton sheets, iPod dock/radio, city views (including the beautiful Chrystler Building), northern exposure, and a private balcony.
My wife and I live in the upstairs bedroom and have our own bathroom so you can have one all for yourself. We're responsible, clean and considerate. Our cat Gizmo is very sweet. Pilar makes wonderful meals using the herbs from our organic roof garden. If our schedules match up perhaps we can share one! Free in-house laundry is available for any stays longer than 6 nights and bi-weekly maid service is included free of charge. If this sounds good to you give us a shout!
5% of your booking will go to support Youth Service Opportunities Project, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that brings young people to the city to volunteer in service of our homeless. Look up YSOP NYC online to learn more!
You'll have your own private bedroom with balcony and closets and your own full bathroom with Jacuzzi tub and rain shower. You're free to use the living room and kitchen as much as you like. You'll find gourmet coffee beans, a grinder and French press available for your morning pick-me up, and we grow our own organic herbs on the deck which you're welcome to use when cooking at home.
The laundry machines (available to guests staying 6 nights or longer) and roof garden are upstairs off of our bedroom. If the door is wide open you're free to come in. If its shut please knock first. :)
Interaction with Guests
Our schedules differ from week to week, but we're usually around between 10pm and 10am. :)
With a diverse demographic that includes prominent Hasidic and Latino communities, semi-industrial Williamsburg, Brooklyn, attracts young—and not-so-young—cool-hunters from all over the city. But it’s not just about hanging out in neo-rustic bars and sporting vintage hats and Amish-esque facial hair—the ’Burg is a serious gastro destination and arty enclave, with a strong Do-It-Yourself spirit.
We love living in the city's best food neighborhood and have been completely spoiled by the amazing variety of restaurants here. The art and music scene here is also second-to-none!
We live right on the L subway line, so you can be in the downtown Manhattan in less than 10 minutes.
Other Things to Note
We love friendly, well behaved animals, and Gizmo has numerous canine friends in the building. We're open to guests with pets buts please be sure to include a photo of your pet in your profile photos and send detailed information about them.
- Please be clean and considerate.
- There is no smoking allowed inside or on the terrace, but you can feel free to smoke on either of the two balconies.
- NYC law requires that we recycle. See the recycling guidelines posted on the bulletin board for all the details on what and can't be recycled in NYC.
- We do our best not to wear shoes in the house, but we're not strict about it.
- Our roof deck can get very windy, and our patio umbrella has blown onto the street before. Its very important that the umbrella remain closed when there is nobody on the roof!
- The heat from our dishwasher will damage anything made of wood, so please hand wash that stuff. The rest can go in the dishwasher (plastic on top, of course).
- What else? Don't steal our stuff, don't leave lights on when you're away or do other things your mother would not approve of.
That's about it!
They have a very sweet spot next to the L line subway and an easy walk through Williamsburg. It was warm and cozy in the dead of winter!
I had a very good experience at Rob & Pilar's place. The apartment was fantastic. I had my own private room and bath room and everything was exactly how the pictures describe it. The location was also very convenient, the L-line (subway) was around the corner and brings you very quickly to Union square. Even though, I only met Rob & Pilar during my last night, they were very friendly, open and welcoming towards me. I very appreciated that and I can only recommend to all others travels to stay with Rob & Pillar when they consider booking an airbnb in New York.
Rob and Pilar were away when I got to their place, but they were very communicative and made sure that I had everything that I needed. Their place is very comfortable, the fire place and projector in the living room is a nice touch. Friendly cat. Everything is as described. Very close to the L so getting around is not a problem. Whenever I am around the city I will definitely look to see if I can stay here again.
I didn't meet Pilar in person, but Rob was very warm and welcoming. They really do want their guests to feel at home. The photos are accurate, it really is a lovely space.
The reason Airbnb is so great is because of hosts like Rob & Pilar. They nailed the complete experience, from having a clean room ready, to toiletries in the private bathroom, to instructions and keys and WiFi, etc. They made me feel comfortable when I was in the flat but also weren't overbearing. The place itself is right off the L and really convenient, and their cat Gizmo is lovely (and I don't normally like cats). Would definitely stay here again—some of the best hosts on Airbnb.
