Magic Cottage is a pretty wooden cabin in the peaceful walled garden of our 16th Century stable block house.
It can be made up with a very comfy super kingsize bed or twins.
The cabin catches the morning sun, so it's lovely to open up the doors and let the light flood in, or sit outside on the decking and enjoy the sunshine.
Magic Cottage has a seating area with sofa, coffee table, TV with Freeview, DVD and stereo. It has a microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster and sink in the kitchen area and a barbeque on the deck but no full cooking facilities. So you can keep some wine and nibbles cool in the fridge, put together a picnic, warm up a ready meal, cook up a barbeque, or make toast or cereal for breakfast, but not rustle up a slap up meal.
It also has an en suite shower room, and a terrace to enjoy the sun if it comes out, as well, of course, as a very comfy bed (superkingsize or two if you would like it set up as twins).
The cabin is built from recycled materials and everything we do follows an eco philosophy.
The essentials are there for when you arrive - tea, coffee, sugar, milk for a cuppa, and oil, salt and pepper for cooking.
We don't provide breakfast, but there is a good little shop under 10 minutes' walk or two minutes' drive away open from 7am til 11pm. It's a Co-op with with fresh fruit and veg, meat, wine, beer and most things you could need for your stay. Even fresh croissants baked on-site every morning, which you can bring back warm from the oven.
There are Chineese and Indian takeaways that deliver, and fish and chip shops to eat on the deck or take to the beach.
There are also a couple of good pubs nearby, and some excellent cafes (we are coffee feinds, and can point you in the right direction for the best coffee).
You can also drive along the seafront to Gosport and catch the ferry to Portsmouth where you can visit the HMS Victory, HMS Warrior and the Mary Rose at the Historic Naval Dockyard and museums, or visit Gunwharf Quays with restaurants, bars, cinemas, bowling and outlet shopping. Much better than driving into Portsmouth, and more of an 'adventure'.
We also run a kitesurfing school, so this is the perfect place to come and stay for a kitesurfing break or course.
We have a portacot available for little ones, or we can make up a single fouton bed if they are too big for that.
Please note that we spend the UK winter in New Zealand (see our other listings!). Our neighbours manage Magic Cottage for us, so it is still available to the same high standard. However, it may mean that I can't answer questions or enquiries during the UK daytime, as I will be in NZ asleep! I will get back to you when I wake up (UK evening time). So please don't think I am ignoring you, or that Magic Cottage is unavailable. Of course, you can still book in the normal way over airbnb, and I will accept your booking when I come online.
I hope you can come and stay!
Stayed a couple nights on a quick trip down south-ish. The cottage had everything we needed and the BBQ was great for cooking breakfast on. Would recommend it to anyone wanting to do the same. If it were summer, we would have definitely went kite surfing as well.
The ferries are a short car drive away and we parked in Gosport and went to Portsmouth and Isle of White. Ferries run very often and there was plenty options for food, not to mention places to explore as well. The Co-Operative super markets have great food for cooking in as well.
It was a great place to stay although owing to the lack of cooking facilities it was a bit tricky after the first few weeks although there are some excellent pubs/takeaways in the area. Very quiet, good for working and friendly neighbours.
very nice cottage , highly recommend
A perfectly cosy night in a great little cottage. Gorgeous walled garden, discreet hosts, everything you might need in nearby shops and easy travel to Portsmouth. Thanks Zoe for a lovely stay!
We had an overnight stay at Magic Cottage and were very comfortable. Lovely big bed and spacious throughout for 2.
Zoe was away but managed to get someone to prepare for us.
We will stay again next time that we are in the area.
The Magic Cottage is a delightful place to spend the weekend. Such a cool space. Loved having our own lil woodsy studio as a home base as we explored the coast. Zoe was a great host, providing us with information and maps, as well as a great tip on the best Indian in town.
Stayed here for 2 nights in the end and throughly enjoyed it, the residents are very lovely people and made us feel most welcome, it is a lovely place to spend our nights there and would highly recommend
Lovely hosts, easy going, and a nice cabin. No complaints at all.
We stayed at the Magic Cottage for just one night but had a delightful stay. It was clean and all our needs were met. Zoe and the family were very welcoming and we'd def stay again!
