Our house, in an old neighbourhood surrounded by nature, lies in the heart of the city, with the Townhall Theatre around the corner and within sight of the Salmon Weir. Ideal location for exploring Galway's shops, pubs, restaurants and nightlife, also the University campus, NUIGalway and Black Box Theatre.

The space

This location is also an ideal starting point for a riverside walk all the way to the famous Salthill Promenade.
The room is a bright single room overlooking a small park. Character and charm, with comfort and a great location.

Guest access

Facilities include wifi, street parking, cooking facilities (vegetarian kitchen only). Help yourself to tea/coffee, cereal, bread, fruit etc. In the evening if you wish to stay in, you can warm up by the turf stove. The bathroom is shared. There is a wide range of books and magazines for you to enjoy.

Interaction with guests

I am happy to tell you some local history of our beautiful city and the river. Galway has some wonderful restaurants such as Ard Bia at Nimmos and Kai Café within easy walking distance, while Tigh Neachtins and The Beirhaus are great for a pint. The Galway Market beside St Nicholas Church is worth a ramble through on Saturdays.

Excellent location, which was the biggest draw for me to stay here. The room is small, but that doesn't mean its uncomfortable. The house maintains its antiquated charm while being up to date on all amenities.

Sheila is a fantastic hostess! She has a lovely house in a great location for visiting Galway. The room is small, but clean, neat and more than adequate. The personal attention to meeting the needs of her guests is great! She got up very early and went out of her way to make sure I got to the bus station safely in the rain. I would definitely stay there again!

Staying with Sheila was one of my favorite parts of Galway! As soon as I arrived she made sure I was comfortable and gave me a detailed map of the city where she marked restaurants and sites she thought may be of interest. She gave several great suggestions and was lovely to talk to. The home is right across from the River Corrib in a really convenient location that is very easy walking distance to shops and great restaurants. There is a beautiful path along the river down towards Quay Street and the Spanish Arch. The house itself is clean and cozy, and the room I stayed in was small but had everything I needed - including a very comfortable bed and a window overlooking the park. I would absolutely stay here again!

Sheila's place is the absolute best place you could find in Galway! I could not begin to describe how incredibly lovely Sheila is. She was so welcoming and amazing. I feel so lucky to have stumbled upon her and her home! Her place is absolutely beautiful and full of nothing but positive energy. She helped me throughout my entire stay and made me laugh constantly! As her guest, you are always so well taken care of and I highly, highly recommend staying here!

This was a great experience in a lovely part of a magnificent city. It is a quiet and scenic part of town yet just a few minutes walk to the heart of Galway. Sheila was a wonderful host, very warm and welcoming. I only regret that my stay was not long enough. I would very much try to book a room here again on my next trip to Galway.

Sheila is a wonderful host - attentive and very kind. We share a passion for environmental issues, and had delightful discussions at breakfast times. I was in Galway for an academic conference, and as I had been there many times I knew the city well. Sheila's home is cosy and welcoming, very centrally located for my purposes between the city centre and the university, and very close to the magnificent River Corrib and the imposing cathedral. I had a very pleasant stay, and absolutely recommend Sheila to anyone visiting Galway.

Sheila is one of the most wonderful people to get to know as well as an excellent host, so it was great staying at her home. Clean, close to everything, unbeatable! Would love to go back again when I return to Galway!
