  • Gabrielle was not at the cabin so her lovely neighbor Helen welcomed and oriented us. It is just as you imagine might it to be - removed, peaceful, clean, and a true respite from regular life. We wish we could have enjoyed more time at this little haven, but we made the most of the time we had.

The bed is on the softer side, but my now husband (we stayed here over our wedding weekend) said he hasn't slept better in a long time, and the bathroom is top notch - good water pressure and always hot. Helen/Gabrielle stocked the fridge with yummy snacks like grapes, crackers and brie, and even left us a bottle of wine from their vineyard! There was also coffee, tea, butter, eggs, and english muffins on hand to enjoy a homemade breakfast.

I couldn't tell you what part of day I liked the best here. Waking up in the morning was divine (pretty much no sounds, crisp air, clear views to the ocean), but the stargazing has no rival (except maybe the desert night sky). There is no ambient light around to obscure the brightness and multitude of the stars, so if you've got a telescope, bring it! My husband even saw a shooting star with an extremely long arc.

The property has horses on it but we pretty much drove in and right up to the cabin since we didn't have time to explore. I would love to come back for another stay!

  • Gabrielle was an excellent host. She was fantastic with communication during our stay. She even helped us arrange a horse riding excursion for the day. As a person visiting from Chicago the winding roads to her property were really fun. The cabin was so nice and very clean with great views of the mountains and the ocean. I enjoyed waking up early and listening to the birds and taking in the crisp fresh air. Gabrielle invited us to her home to taste some of her wine from her land. It was a neat experience and we learned about the growing process. You really get a nice Bed and Breakfast feel here with fresh chicken eggs, jam, and muffins which is a nice treat and really sets this host apart from others in a positive way. We hiked the nearby trails, sat by the nice pool and took a nap, rode horses, and had a bbq. We would come again.

  • The cabin in the pines was a really lovely place to spend 3 nights. The location is amazing and well off the beaten track so it's the perfect get away. Gabrielle was a great host and left provisions for us in the fridge, she also arranged a horse ride in the hills behind on my behalf which was amazing. The cabin is bigger than it looks in photos, with a big bathroom and hanging area which was a nice surprise. The only thing that wasn't as we expected was that the pool is not part of the cabin but a short walk away. If it was an important enough part of our trip we should have checked this, but as it happens we didn't use it anyway. Thanks for having us!

  • We loved our stay! The wood burning stove felt a lot like glamping. Gabrielle was the perfect balance of attentive and respectful. Can't wait to return!

  • Gabrielle has a charming cabin. My husband and I stayed there this weekend with our two dogs and had a fantastic experience! The cabin is exactly as it looks in the pictures; clean, updated, comfortable and welcoming. Gabrielle is a very gracious host. She had a bottle of her wine, cheese, fresh fruit, fresh eggs, crackers and jam waiting for us when we got there. The cabin is several miles into the canyon off of PCH so you feel remote even when you're a 10 min drive from shops and the beach. The cabin had a breathtaking view of the ocean as well as horses, lush trees, and hiking on the property. We cannot wait to stay here again! Thank you Gabrielle!!!

    Response from Gabrielle:

I'm so sorry about the hot tub issues - I'll get it fixed. Also I'll get a new coffee pot - I didn't know there was anything wrong with that one but thanks for telling me! Hope to see you again soon!

  • Simple perfection. Lovely host. Lovely cabin in the pines. My only hesitation on posting such a rave review is that this slice of heaven will be booked next time we'd like to stay ;-)

If you do get the chance to visit, you will NOT be disappointed.

  • Breathtaking views. Quiet, idyllic location. Wonderful host. Perfect weekend!
Secluded and romantic, beautiful setting to sit out and enjoy a bottle of wine, watch the hummingbirds, or even feed the resident horses. Our 2 nights were at Sage hill will not be forgotten, and we'll definitely be back.

  • We had an amazing and restful experience at Sage Hill. The Cabin had everything you need and nothing you didn't and all we could think about was when we could come back. We planned on driving into Malibu during our stay but we just couldn't pull ourselves away from the cabin. Gabrielle was a wonderful host with delicious wine. Highly recommend.

About
I'm British but have lived in California for 35 years. I like to go "home" a couple of times a year to stay connected to family & friends but am always so happy to get back to sunny California! I love where I live - Sage Hill Ranch is a 7 acre paradise overlooking the ocean. It used to be a Christmas tree farm & there are hundreds of enormous Pine trees on the property. I have 5 horses & the riding around here is amazing. Miles of ocean view trails - the Backbone trail goes all the way to the beach. I planted a vineyard when I moved here 6 years ago & now we are enjoying our own Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon & Sauvignon Blanc which we are happy to share with cabin guests! I have loved having Airbnb guests staying in the cabin. Everyone that has stayed has been so nice & many have become friends. I look forward to experiencing other Airbnb accommodations on my travels to Europe.
