About this listing
One block from where they park the Rose Parade floats! Private room and large private bathroom in 1920's Mediterranean style-home with separate garden entrance.
"Sweet Tooth for Kitsch" in the home of artists.
Pretty room with a queen bed, private bath accessed off the hallway and a garden patio in a 1920's Mediterranean style-home in Pasadena California with parking spot on property.
Room includes air conditioning, a private garden entrance through French doors, a lovely view of the garden from the window, 2 closets, a queen sized bed, mini Fridge, microwave, bed-side table, dresser, long desk/table, chair, cable television, hi speed wireless internet, coffee maker, fan, water glasses, shoe rack, hangers, extra blanket, reusable shopping bag (Pasadena is now bag-free), dishware set and use of the patio. The house is very old which makes it charming, however on occasion you can hear other people in the house, but it's muffled and usually only if someone is talking very loudly. We are quiet and so are our guests so it's been fine. :) Smoking allowed on upper patio only. We are in the yard on occasion, but usually only go out there to feed our tortoise Stockton or when Mercedes uses her outside art studio (in separate building on the property). And if we happen to be out there, we love the company!
The fresh, airy bathroom has a full bath/shower, pedestal sink and lots of shelves and storage space. Towels, bath salts, shampoo and conditioner provided. The bathroom is accessed of the hallway. The hallway is shared with us, but we do not use that bathroom, it's only for you! :) On occasion you see us in the hallway, but we've definitely gone entire visits without seeing each other!
Cats are on the property but not allowed in the room. Our silly black cat Dixon, hangs out in our quarters, although he occasionally gets into the hall and we shoo him out. He's super friendly and loves people, so feel free to give him a pat. Also a California Desert Tortoise named Stockton will hang out on the upper patio in his fenced off area, the little guy survived a truck running over him and you can see his patched up shell. We have a small, quiet, sweet Chihuahua mix named Fiona. We adopted her from the humane society. We are told she's anywhere from 3-7. Our newest addition is a little gray kitten named Mason. She is best of friends with both Dixon and Fiona and runs around and plays with them both. The animals all stay in our area of the house.
*If you would like to use the washer and dryer, please arrange with us a time of use, and we will let you into the laundry room. It's not available 24/7.

Interaction with Guests
We are happy to chat if a guest would like to and we are available and we respect a guest's privacy. We've had times where we chat on the patio with drinks and times where we barely saw our guests around. Both scenarios are fine with us. :) If you would like to spend some time with us, let us know and we can try to work it into both our schedules. Our availability depends heavily on our work schedules.
One block from where they park the rose parade floats. We love Pasadena, such a beautiful city, and surprisingly a lot to do. We love how centrally we are located in the area, walking distance to the metro and Old Town Pasadena and a block from where they line up the Rose Parade Floats the night before the Parade.

Other Things to Note
The house is an old house built in the 1920's with all it's original windows, doors, floors etc. It comes with all the old house beauty and problems. We've had a fuze go out (which is now fixed). And ants get into someones room when they left food out (please keep food sealed and food garbage thrown in the outside trash can) . We are continually working on the yard and the 2nd airbnb room we will open in the fall. The yard is split into 2 parts and the lower yard hasn't been worked on and is currently storing old pots and our broken trampoline, (not easily visible from the upper yard and patios). We love our house, it's totally unique and we want to make sure there are no surprises for our guests! Our pictures show how the room and bathroom are (we've had some guest state it wasn't more plush). If you feel that anything isn't properly represented please let us know so we may correct it! Our goal is to be as accurate as possible in our description and your experience.
Smoking only on upper patio, no smoking in the house please. Please be sure to put your discarded cigarettes in the ash tray provided. Please be mindful not to stain towels and furniture when using hair and make up products. Please wipe up after any spills and clean up after yourself when you leave. Must arrange a time for Washer and Dryer use. Park in designated parking spot. Cats in the house are not allowed into guest quarters. Check in Time is flexible, no sooner than 2:00pm in the afternoon but we must know in advance what time that will be, so please call or message to arrange check in. Check out time is 12 noon sharp, please also let us know what time you expect to check out. Room for 2 only. Is there are ever any questions or concerns please call Mercedes right away. Justin and Mercedes work very hard to insure people having a positive experience in their home.
My parents and I really enjoyed our stay in Mercedes and Justin's house! The room is nice, lovely and comfortable. The patio is so awesome that we like staying there. Mercedes is really welcoming and organized. She's definitely a 5-star host.
Mercedes and Justin are very nice hosts and they are very considerable during our stay. Their house is beautiful and historical. I really like to stay with them again.
I stayed 4 weeks at this place. Mercedes is a good host. She is friendly, helpful and always answer my text promptly.
It is a charming little room inside an old house. There hasn't been much updates done, which i think it is required and I would definitely want to see a slightly sturdier entrance door, newer towels and linens.
The place is conveniently located near the Art Center College South Campus and Old Town Pasadena.
Overall I think it is good if you are on a budget while visiting Pasadena, it is good value for the money considerating its great location but if you want some thing more deluxe, you might be disappointed.
Very nice, quiet place to stay. The room is in an older home, and the bed was very comfortable, the private bath very clean, and there were lots of "extras" available. The room didn't have a window, and there was an air conditioner that worked very well on the hot and humid days that I stayed here. The nights were cooler, so I left the French doors open all night, and had no worries about my safety.
Upon arriving we were immediately and warmly greeted by Mercedes which made us feel very welcomed. The room was very comfortable and the amenities were exactly as described. We stayed for two nights but we had so many activities planned that other than sleeping we spent very little time there. If we are in the area again we will certainly look into staying there. I recommend staying there to others.
This is a very comfortable, cosy and private room. We loved the garden entrance and the big bathroom, and the location was excellent, with private parking.
Mercedes and Justin were warm, friendly hosts who communicated perfectly and met us punctually even when it was very late at night. The space was very comfortable, functional and the bathroom was huge. Wonderful stay!
