Interaction with guests

We prefer to have minimal interaction with the guests to allow them to enjoy their vacations fully.

We will always try our best to be here to greet you. When we are not, we will provide you will detailed instructions to enter the house and a list of great tips to make your stay the best it can be. We are always available by phone or email.

We live in a separate unit in the brownstone so you may hardly see us during your stay.

We have small children and a dog so we prefer if you use the airbnb app/website to communicate because knocking agitates our dog or may wake our babies if napping. It also keeps all of the messages organized and is great way to have a record if there needs to be intervention from airbnb.

We love to meet our guests and chatting but we try very hard to respect their privacy as well as leading very busy lives. For this reason, you may not interact with us as much as other hosts, but please be assured you can contact us anytime for any reason and we will respond and do our best to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Michelle's place was an absolute dream. Close to great coffee and restaurants, very clean and spacious with the comfiest bed of all time. Warm during the snow and shared bathroom was clean and light. Michelle was also very responsive and flexible with a change in the booking. We had a great stay for a very reasonable price and would recommend to anyone who wants to stay in Brooklyn

This was a great room! Everything was as advertised and the bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on during a vacation. The bathroom was sparkling clean. We got free parking the second we pulled up and were able to stay parked there all weekend. Michelle's brownstone is within walking distance of a subway stop, which was handy. It's a pretty far ride to the normal touristy stuff found in Manhattan, but we knew what we were getting into. We traded distance to tourist attractions for free parking, great price, and a more authentic visit. Plus once we got back to Crown Heights in the evenings, we had a million great, cheap Caribbean food places to choose from. Seriously, do you know how much roti and curry $10 can get you?

Really great experience. Michelle was available when needed but mostly kept herself to herself. Area was nice and quiet, as was the house itself. Travel to and from the house was easy too, nearby metro came in handy. Would recommend!

My husband and I were visiting New York for a quick 3 day trip and stumbled upon this listing. Michelle was very prompt and helpful with our communications. Questions and concerns were answered right away. As she mentioned on her posting, she prefers to keep her interactions minimal which is true - we actually didn't get to meet due to our check-in and out time. But she was very clear and helpful with instructions for them. The room looks just as pictured on the listing. As mentioned, it is a 100 year old house. There are a few areas that my husband and I found could improve. As we entered into the front door the first night, we noticed a strong and distinct odor through the stairway and hallway up to our room, almost like something is decomposing. Thankfully when we kept our room shut for the next few days, the odor dissipated within our room, but still lingered strongly in the hallway and bathroom. We are not sure if this is something that just started, but we hope it can be taken care of, as it did affect the comfort of our stay there. Another thing to think about is that sound traveled quite well between walls and we could hear the other guests quite clearly, but since we were not there most of the day and we are early risers, it wasn't too bad. As for if we would stay at the brownstone again, it really depends on if the odor is taken care of.

Response from Michelle:
Hi Catherine, Thank you again for choosing our house for your stay and I'm so sorry hear that your stay was compromised. The odor in question was due to a broken pipe in the bathroom where you stayed. It ended up leaking through the walls and through the ceiling underneath causing rotting. Once we discovered the problem we immediately had everything repaired, replaced and even remodeled the entire bathroom! You wouldn't recognize it & no more smell. I do wish you would have brought the odor to my attention during your stay. I would have tried my best to find a solution but I am so grateful for your feedback and glad you were able to enjoy your stay. We do hope you return for your next trip and will offer you 10% off your next stay. Thanks again & best wishes, Michelle PS I will make a note in the listing to let other guests know about the sound. Thanks again!
