Our comfy apartment has 12th floor views over Kreuzberg and Berlin's city centre. You can walk to the famous Oranienstraße for endless bars and cafes, or steep yourself in Berlin's history, art and culture. Take the table out onto the balcony for a perfect breakfast.
I'm an artist, and I really enjoy clarity, so all the pieces in the house - the artwork, the furniture - are chosen because they inspire me, and make a comfortable environment. And the balcony is beautiful. It gets a lot of sunlight, so it's great for a coffee and a book, or endless hours with a bottle of wine and friends.
With views over the city there is a small dining table, a cluster of chairs and a vintage sofa, so if you want to entertain friends, you've got everything you need for a leisurely afternoon.
However I have a very large desk, superfast wi-fi so if you're in town on business, you can get a lot done in peace and quiet.
There's one double bed as well as a roll-out single mattress if a third person wants to stay.
The kitchen has modern appliances and the bathroom is super-clean and bright.
KREUZBERG is my dream neighbourhood, I can hardly believe I live here. My favourite cafe is a short stroll away, at the Prinzessinnengarten - an organic and socially conscious garden oasis. And if you stroll up Oranienstr, turn up Dresdenerstr and head to Würgeengel a bit further up the road for cocktails. Oh, and you should eat Menemen (Turkish scrambled eggs) at the Simit bakery next to Kotbusser Tor.
At Moritzplatz you should check out the Aufbauhaus, with hipster hangout Prince Charles, djs, concerts, open air cinema, BBQs, a gourmet cafe, a massive arts supply store, a gallery, an incredible concentration of fun!
The apartment is right on the border with MITTE too, so you can steep yourself in the history of the ever-changing city.
You can easily walk to Checkpoint Charlie - the old gateway between East and West Berlin in 10 minutes from the apartment.
Just down the street from the apartment is the Berlinische Gallerie, filled with artwork from the last 150 years made by the city's natives and international residents, a reminder that this place has always been a hub for creatives..
A couple of minutes walk is the Jewish museum, allowing you to explore the fecund diverse and ultimately tragic history of this country's Jews.
And if it's summer, there's a great outdoor pool nearby - the Sommerbad Kreuzberg.
Moritzplatz ubahn (metro) station is seven minutes walk, and it's on the U8 line which takes you to Alexanderplatz in one direction, and out to the Neukölln neighbourhood the other way. Almost the same distance but in the other direction is Kochstraße station on the U6 line, next to Checkpoint Charlie.
The M12 bus stops outside the apartment, taking you through Kreuzberg to the border of Neukölln. The stop is called "Waldeckpark".
Look up "bvg" on (website hidden) for Berlin transport information.
FINDING THE APARTMENT
Although the apartment is on Alexandrinenstr, it is actually down a very long laneway, and it is closer to access the apartment from the corner of Oranienstr and Alte Jakobstraße behind the drinks shop called "Getränkemarkt Hoffman". Look for the very tall 14-storey building.
Great owner. Super in the description and "user guide of his house". Great advice. House with super views. The bus line M29 is under the house and go where where you want on 10 minutes. You can move by foot in 15 min. you're on Museum Island, but the center of the evening entertainment is around his house.
Benjamin was really polite and all was perfect in his apparment. really amazing view on the city, very silent around, easy to find and well connected to underground. Perfect
We had a very nice stay in Benjamin's apartment. The view is amazing, the apartment is cosy with a quick wifi-connection, and everything in Kreuzberg is pretty near by. Definitely recommended...
Benjamin was communicative, helped us arrange logistics ahead of time and was great overall. His apartment is in a good location with amazing view. Very comfy and nice.
Great location on the Checkpoint Charlie side of Kreuzberg. An excellent view from the apartment as well. The check in was super easy and Ben left a handy list of hints for the area.
Comfy bed and clean bedding.
Berlin is such a great place, and we really enjoyed staying in Benjamin's apartment. It is located in a very safe neighborhood, and easy to see/find because the apartment is located in the tallest building. The apartment is high up and has a balcony with an amazing view of Berlin.
There are elevators although slow, but it doesn't really matter. He decorated the apartment in a very unique way and the whole place had a nice vibe.
As for the neighborhood Kreuzberg is really cool! The apartment is not in central Kreuzberg and it is a little walk to the main bars there, but very do-able. All the main attractions and sites are walking distance. Metro is also very easy in Berlin, and we were located near multiple metro stations.
The kitchen was equipped with all the supplies we needed, and it was really nice being able to cook our own meals,
We never got to meet Benjamin, which was unfortunate because he really seemed like a cool and interesting guy! He sent me a detailed list of things to do in the area and some of his favorite spots. He also left me very good directions.
Benjamin was very flexible on the arrival and departure time, thanks. Our stay at Benjamin apartment was very nice. The view really is amazing.
Our overall experience was very nice.
