These apartments are located in a lovely historic building that dates back 7 centuries. The apartments have been recently updated in a beautiful style of traditional and antique Italian furnishings updated with modern touches.
The apartment has an unbeatable location directly in the center of town, tucked away in a quiet little courtyard off one of the main streets. You're close to everything but protected from city noise.
Since you will be right in the center of town, you are a 3-5 minute walk from 3 small grocers, 5 or 6 cafes, the main cathedral, 10 restaurants, and a number of shops. It doesn't get more central than this!
Upon entering you will be dazzled by the apartment's tall ceilings with exposed wood and tiles. The living area features tasteful antiques downstairs and a charming loft-level master bedroom upstairs with large double bed. From the balcony windows you will overlook the lovely flower-filled courtyard below.
The kitchen features granite counter tops, a full-sized refrigerator, stove top, bar, and dining table. It is fully equipped with new cookware and serving pieces for six or more people.
The master bathroom is beautifully decorated in red marble tile with skylight and is equipped with a bathtub + shower, sink, toilet, and bidet. The bathroom features a lovely custom counter built from cabinets salvaged from an apothecary. A new washer is located upstairs in a utility room near the master bedroom.
The small second bedroom offers sleeping for two people in twin beds and has its own private bathroom.
Both bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning and are furnished with all new 160 thread count 100% cotton linens, your choice of down or synthetic filled duvets, and your choice of synthetic or down pillows.
You are only a 5-10 minute walk from the train station or the bus station that will take you to Pisa, Viareggio, Firenze, Cinque Terre, and all over Tuscany and the Garfagnana.
The apartment is independent (not shared with any other units in the building). It has independent heating & A/C, its own washing machine, and access to the elevator shared by the other residents of the building. The garage is private to one of the other residents and is off-limits.
Interaction with Guests
As much or as little as you like! I'm always available for questions, or I can leave you to explore on your own. Whatever you prefer.
Lucca is a wonderful size - it's called a "human-sized city" because it offers the advantages of a large city but with the feel of a much smaller town.
You are right in the heart of Lucca! Within 5 minutes, you can reach every major church, monument, museum, the walls... everything! Plus our street is full of shops, grocery stores, wine bars, a bookstore... everything you need is just outside.
The bus stop and train station are both an easy, flat 10-minute walk from the apartment. There is paid parking within a 5-minute walk and free parking within a 10-15 minute walk. Parking on site is not possible (not even to unload luggage) due to Lucca's restrictive ZTL which limits car traffic to residents.
Lucca is easily reached via train or bus from all of the major airports in Italy (Pisa, Florence, Rome, Milan, Bologna, etc).

We had a lovely stay at this apartment in Lucca. We were met in the town by Venessa who walked us to the apartment which is tucked into a quiet courtyard yet in a very convenient central location within the city walls.
The apartment is on the top floor, and accessible by a lift which is convenient when arriving with luggage. It is also a very easy walk up and a nice way to burn off a few calories from all the delicious food and gelato!
The inside of the apartment is quite large and spread over several levels, and is beautifully decorated with natural wood ceilings and antique furnishings. The kitchen and living room are especially spacious and perfect for an eat-in meal and for relaxing with a book. The living area has balcony doors that overlook the courtyard and let in very nice natural light.
Venessa has included a very helpful book with a map and list of places to visit, and we found all of her recommendations were very good.
All-in-all a terrific apartment that we would happily return to again on our next visit to Lucca!
My family and I had a lovely time in Lucca while staying in Vanessa's cozy apartment. It was clean, nicely furnished and plenty of room for our 2 kids to spread out in. It is centrally located to restaurants, markets, and anything you desire within the city walls. We had no problem parking our car in a free parking zone located 10 minutes from her apartment. Vanessa was an excellent host responding to our many questions about restaurant recommendations and Lucca information. We would certainly recommend this spot to our friends! Thank you again Vanessa and Simonetta! :)
We could not have had a better experience at this perfectly charming home in the heart of lovely Lucca . Vanessa ensured that our went so smoothly. We were met at the bus stop and walked to the apartment by AnnMarie who took time to acquaint us with everything. The kitchen is very well equipped, bathrooms modern and clean, apartment is very large and great for two couples. Shops and restaurants are only a few steps away. Memories of this very special stay in Lucca are the highlight of our Italian holiday.
Accoglienza ottima, appartamento confortevole e caratteristico, quartiere centralissimo
Lucca is one of our favourite cities so my wife and I were very happy to find such a well-appointed apartment right in the centre- and in a building so quiet that our own home in the depths of the countryside is noisy in comparison! Although we did not meet Rowena we had good instructions on how to meet her friend who let us in and explained everything. We were very comfortable and were close to everything we needed. The recommendations and maps in the apartment were very helpful. Although we were only there as a couple, the second bedroom and bathroom, off the kitchen, looked very cosy. A highly recommended place to stay.
Vanessa arranged for a friend to meet us. She was very helpful and pleasant. Location is absolutely perfect and apartment quite comfortable for 2 couples. The lift was a bonus

About the Host, Vanessa
I love helping other people have a great trip.
Italy has been so fundamental to who I've become, and I want to make sure everyone else experiences the magic while they're here. I'm always glad to help in any way that I can, be it making a dinner reservation, helping with trains or taxis or buses, or just answering questions about your trip. I'll give you all the space you want, but don't be afraid to ask me anything! I have a pretty thorough knowledge of Tuscany, Liguria, Umbria, and Lazio, and a smattering of other parts of Italy as well, so fire away. :)
Excellent gelato made from all-natural ingredients. Our other favorite is in the Anfiteatro - there is more than one, make sure you choose the one called Gelateria Anfiteatro!!Via San Paolino Lucca LU 55100
Small little family-run restaurant, menu changes daily and offers many traditional items. The staff is wonderful - tell them Vanessa sent you. :) We love their tordelli!Via Santa Croce Lucca LU 55100
Excellent pizza served by an oddball staff. Open 7 days a week and open late, they also do take out!Via Elisa Lucca Tuscany 55100
