The space
The construction of this neighborhood was commissioned by the Galician immigrant Agapito Serra Fernandes and is part of a construction movement designed to accommodate the capital's workers. Designed by architect Norte Júnior, the neighborhood is made up of housing structures forming a U-shaped layout, with several streets designated with the names of the owner's relatives.

The neighborhood's decorative program includes tile panels evoking the owner, the date of foundation, and the fact that the neighborhood was named Estrela d'Ouro (Golden Star). Five-pointed stars were scattered throughout the buildings and sidewalks as a tribute to its origins: the city of Santiago de Compostela.
