Interaction with Guests
Guests make themselves at home and we help out with information and advice about the area.
We live in the house and we like to meet our guests and make sure they have a great visit. It's up to our guests how much interaction they have with us. We put out breakfast for our guests...muesli, tea, coffee, orange juice, breads, jam, marmalade...simple but homely.
Roath Lake, at the bottom of the road is a Victorian landmark and masterpiece. Our corner of Cardiff is a historic area with some classic Edwardian and Victorian architecture and we're near to University Hospital Wales. There's a good shop on the corner for everything too.
It's a suburban area. The local train station is 7 minutes walk and is one stop to the city. Taxi takes 10 minutes to the Centre.
It's our home so it's easy to relax and enjoy your visit. Guest are welcome to use the kitchen to make tea and things. We're happy to supply local information about Cardiff and Wales and help with any forward travel plans guests are making. We usually put out some breakfast in the morning for people to help themselves and we have a spare sitting room which is private and can be used by guests. Most guests tidy up after themselves and leave no traces beyond a friendly visit and a happy stay in Cardiff. Please come and stay.
Roy and Ann were great hosts and made us feel very welcome in their wonderful house. We arrived late at night, and were given a quick tour and told to make ourselves completely at home. In the morning, there was fresh bread waiting for us first thing. Roy and Ann themselves were fascinating to chat to, and gave us some really great recommendations of things to do in the area. The house is big enough that we had plenty of privacy when we needed it, but could also socialise with our hosts. Staying here was a very special experience which we can 100% recommend.
Roy and his family were excellent hosts; would wholeheartedly recommend without reservation.
We had an absolutely fabulous time with Roy and Ann in Cardiff. They are kind and lovely hosts, particularly to our young girls. The house is beautiful, with plenty to see, and a lovely garden that the children enjoyed exploring. Breakfast was lovely as well, and we felt very much at home. The house is very close to the train station, with excellent connections to the city. Could not have asked for a better experience.
Roy and Ann were wonderful, welcoming hosts. The property was lovely and just as described. This was our first air bnb experience, and I must say it was 100% positive. We stayed for 8 nights, one teenager, and a couple. Comfortable and warm beds, very quiet at night, beautiful home, separate sitting / dining area and bathrooms for privacy when needed. We had use of the kitchen and laundry which was great for such a long stay. Thanks Roy and Ann, perfect hosts!
Staying at Roy's place is like visiting relatives (the nice kind!). Their home is welcoming and cosy and somehow familiar. The house is in a quiet neighborhood close to the station, about five minutes walk. The rooms were clean and well kept and their great art collection was an added bonus, with an interesting piece to look at around every corner. Waking up to the smell of fresh bread in the morning was divine and the things which Roy left out for us to eat in the morning was really nice and a good start to our day. Ann also very kindly arranged a taxi for us and they were approachable and very helpful. The only minor criticism is that the second room we booked had only one bed and a mattress for the second person to sleep on, but this is described in the listing so it was really my fault that I didn't realize it. Overall a really pleasant stay!
Absolutely perfect for our family. Roy and Anne made us feel very welcome from the moment we saw him standing on the road outside his house so that we could find it in the dark. The reason we decided to try Airbnb as a family was because we needed somewhere to cook our own food and we wanted separate bedrooms for ourselves and our 3 year old. We had a delightful time chatting and can't recommend this cosy house enough. This is what Airbnb should always be about.
We were lucky enough to find Roy's accommodation for Saturday night when the rugby between Wallabies and Wales was on. We were warmly welcomed by Roy and his wife at the door and felt immediately at home. Our rooms upstairs were comfortable, the bed extremely so and the sheets good quality. Breakfast was a self help continental with homemade muesli, yoghurt and a tasty bread. All quite enjoyable. This home is in a very leafy and interesting part of Cardiff, a short walk from a beautiful lake. If you only saw downtown you might leave with the wrong impression of this city. We walked about 25 minutes to a really very special Italian restaurant called Scallinis. I couldn't recommend it more highly. The food was as good as any we've had any Italy and that's saying something.
We've lived in Wales for thirty years, working in the performing arts. I am now a dance photographer and my wife is a creative producer. We love to travel internationally, looking for great street food, meeting people and seeing the art and culture of other places and peoples.
