The house was built in 1908 and has retained it's original woodwork. Recent upgrades have included all new energy efficient windows, refinished wood floors, and a freshly landscaped yard with new patio (updated pictures coming soon). Your room is in the front of the house, overlooks the front yard and receives the evening sun. Just a heads up that the bedroom and bathroom are on the second floor; the shower room is in the basement.

In the morning help yourself to cereal, toast, coffee, tea, and milk to start your day off right. Feel free to store food in the fridge/freezer and use the pots/pans if you are cooking inclined. Relax in the living room or build a fire in the outdoor fire pit.

A house key will be available so that you may come and go at your leisure.

Interaction with Guests

I want your time in the Twin Cities to be enjoyable. Feel free to ask me for any recommendations or advice on what to do or see. I love helping guests get a local experience and to show off our city.

The Neighborhood

Situated in the diverse & distinct "Nordeast" area of Minneapolis, this 100+ year old house is convenient to lots that the Twin Cities have to offer. Located on a quiet street just off of Central Ave, you are steps from many local restaurants & shops that reflect the diversity of the area. With quick & easy access to downtown and the U of M, many attractions are just minutes away. The neighborhood is quiet, friendly, and safe.

Getting around

Public transit, a Nice Ride public shared bike station (seasonal) and the freeway are close by, making transportation convenient and direct. The #10 city bus line is 2 short blocks away, with frequent and direct service to downtown and the convention center.

Other Things to Note

My girlfriend, Shana, and her small dog are frequently over. Her dog is friendly and is a hypoallergenic breed (Havaneese).

  • Really awesome experience, and in such a great neighborhood. Sam is very knowledgeable about the area, and was an excellent host. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly. Just a few blocks away, there is a great selection of food (Thai, Mexican, Middle Eastern, pizza). There's also a really nice co-op grocery store a few blocks away. I was in town for a wedding, so I didn't get to go downtown, but it seemed like it'd be quick to get downtown from Sam's. It was very easy to get to Sam's from the airport. I definitely recommend staying with Sam if you're in town.

  • My husband and I booked our plane tickets to minnesota two days before actually flying out. Sam was so helpful and understanding on such short notice. We were there for two days just exploring and Sam was so helpful. He told us the best places to do and see. His house was beautiful and comfotable. It has a home feeling to it. We were sad to leave but we definitely will be back to explore more of this beautiful city and when we do we will be booking with Sam if he is available! !:) thank you so much Sam for your help!

  • Sam was a great host! I just stayed overnight to see a show at First Ave and this was the perfect location. I easily took the 10 downtown and had no issues. Thank you, Sam!

  • Our stay with Sam, Shana and Chester was great! We were only in town for one night, but were greeted upon arrival and welcomed to our room. The neighborhood was very safe and a quick bus ride to our show at the varsity theatre. We slept like babies and definitely got some smooches from Chester:) We very much recommend you stay with Sam and Shana, and we definitely will the next time we are in town.

  • Sam is a great, friendly host. He is knowledgeable about many subjects. He is often busy with projects around the house and out of the house.

I found the house to be really quiet and I go the best sleep on my entire trip.

The neighborhood is great. I liked the assortment of authentic Mexican, Central American and Arabic food. There (email hidden)-op a few blocks down on central if you want yuppie american food as well.

On the map the house seems a little far from downtown, but the number 10 bus runs ever 10 or 15 minutes right down Central ( two blocks away) and the number 17 and 4/14 buses also run close by. Another great option for getting around in the NiceRide bikes. There is a NiceRide station just two blocks away, and it is easy to get to Downtown / U of MN by riding down Washington. I found a great bike shop on central.

  • My adult daughter and her boyfriend had a wonderful stay here recently. They complimented Sam on his friendliness and great communication. They particularly enjoyed a late night stroll in the neighborhood and visits to Spyhouse and area brew pubs. Most definitely recommended!

  • This was my first Airbnb stay and I must say it exceeded expectations! Sam is such a gracious host! Gave me a full map of the town and a ton of information about commuting around on the bus! He gave me full access to the house and kitchen amenities so I could cook my meals. I got the opportunity to meet his sweet girlfriend and her dog Chester!! The house is one 25-30 min bus ride to the convention center which I was there for a certification. They also had the Nice Ride bikes but it was kinda cold so I skipped it! Bed was super comfy and the neighborhood is so peaceful and pretty! Totally crash wit this guy if hou are ever in town for some good ol' Minneapolis Hospitality!!

  • Although a very short stay, we had a lovely experience with Sam and his home. We were in town for a party and were able to come early to get ready prior to the event. Even though Sam was not present before we left for the party, he was easy to reach and executed excellent communication prior to our stay as well. The room was great; super comfortable bed! Definitely recommend this airbnb gem!

I am an elementary school teacher in Minneapolis, and during the summer I drive pedicab downtown. During my free time I enjoy motorcycling, bicycling, sailing, taking in events around the city, and am trying to find my green thumb with gardening. I love this city, and am happy to give any recommendations or local insight.
