Interaction with Guests
Because I live in San Francisco, I will have little or no interaction with guests. I am reachable via (website hidden) and phone. Also, I have a local neighborhood resident managing and cleaning the property if guests have any issues or questions.
- well-behaved pets are fine. [we have a chocolate lab] Owners simply need to be responsible for any damage.
- hot tub .. is quite new and well maintained. Please try to keep clean by not introducing oils, sunblock, dirt, etc. Please turn down to 80 degrees after stay.
- please make sure all windows and doors are locked before leaving (through garage door).
- please make sure hot water is turned off upon leaving [top green switch in garage electrical panel].
- SUP (stand-up paddle board) in garage is NOT for guest use.
Fantastic house! The location was wonderful; we were a short walk from the lake, and not too far from grocery stores. Skiing was very accessible as well.
The house was perfect. The furniture was beautiful, and accommodated all of us well. The beds were very comfortable! The kitchen was fully stocked with great appliances, plates, utensils-everything. Everything felt very clean and fresh.
We'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
Host was very responsive and the house was very comfortable and clean. However, there were some issues that need to be addressed before we would stay here again.
-Two windows were broken and boarded up that were not mentioned.
-Cable TV and Internet were not working
-Hot Tub would not stay on, we were unable to use it
If the above items were fixed I would stay here again and give it a five star review.
Our first visit to Lake Tahoe. 3 adults, 1 lab/retriever. Accommodation was completely adequate for our purposes. We had log fires every night - lovely to have a fire in the bedroom. Also enjoyed the hot tub.
Location is fabulous, short drive to Tahoe City and Squaw Valley. Also we could walk c5mins to the beach for our pup to swim (LOTS!). Roads to rear of property very picturesque for walking.
Herb has a lovely, well-equipped home in a very good location at Tahoe. My contact with him before my stay was very good. Unfortunately, when I arrived, there were some fairly serious maintenance and cleaning problems -- broken window, hot tub filter dirty, kitchen ovens and carpets dirty, etc. The neighbor whose name Herb gave me didn't want anything to do with the guests and the cleaning person wasn't available. It was very difficult to get hold of Herb for help. After my stay, airbnb helped me with these problems. If Herb improves maintenance and cleaning, his house will once again become a great vacation home.
About the Host, Herb
I have lived and worked all over the world .. (and still work internationally) but have called San Francisco home since 1992. (so happy to show anyone around the City!)
I work in internet/software.
I have two daughters: one 13 yrs old (8th grade) and one 22 yrs old (4th yr at Stanford).
I am an avid athlete .. mainly in the mountains: snowboarding, skiing, mtn biking, climbing. (so I know all of the great runs, trails, climbs in Tahoe!)
I love to cook .. so our cabin has a very well equipped kitchen. (great pots/pans, knives, appliances, etc.)
I grew up in a family that owned/operated hotels and apartments .. so: 1) I know how to fix things .. and 2) I appreciate great beds! While most place in Tahoe receive 'leftover' secondhand furniture, I had all of the beds custom-made by the same manufacturer and specs as the Four Seasons hotel chain. (we all spend about one-third of our lives in bed .. so it better be comfortable!) Guaranteed: you will love the beds. ;-)
