Let me start off with the good before I get to the BAD. The location is great! It is close to the beach, super markets, bars, bus stops, delicious restaurants, shopping, and the daily farmers market!
Now the bad…
Right off the bat my fiancé and I had a bad experience with Salvatore’s apartment. We had many reasons not to be happy with our stay. The biggest factor being that the air conditioning unit did not work even though the apartment was listed as having working AC. If it was any other time of year besides the dead of summer, this would not have been a problem. However, we were vacationing during August which means very hot weather. We were aware of the weather pattern during that time of year in southern Europe, so we only looked for apartments with AC. We understand that AC is a luxury and are willing to premium for it, which WE DID. We understand that technical difficulties do happen and equipment does malfunction/break. Because the AC was out of commission for the duration of our stay, we asked for a reduction in the price of our stay. This was definitely warranted especially since the nights were HOT and HUMID. The management company responded stating that they would forward the message to Salvatore and would get back to us as soon as he replied. This did not happen. I had to contact the management company multiple times, which they replied with the same message as before. Needless to say we never heard back from Salvatore and had to pay the premium cost of AC for 3 nights without actually having the comfort of AC.
The AC, though the most problematic, was not the only problem. To check into this apartment, we had to travel in a completely different direction from the train station to get the keys to the apartment. We travel quite frequently and use AirBnB often. We have never had to travel out of the way to obtain keys to an apartment. Considering we were in a foreign country and brand new to Nice, having to navigate not only to the apartment, but to an additional location, that was not within walking distance by any means, can be very difficult and totally inconvenient! Other issues include the bed being unmade, the couch being dusty, no essentials (i.e., hand soap, paper towels, sponges for dishes, etc…), and only leaving a quarter of a roll of toilet paper. This Airbnb charges a cleaning fee, but asks its tenants to take out all the trash and clean all the dishes. I do not mind doing these things, but what is the cleaning fee for?!? Especially since it wasn’t very clean to begin with. Not only that, but there wasn’t even a sponge at the residence to clean the dishes with!
All around not a very good experience with this apartment and management company! We would not recommend this place.
Stefan was very kind in checking us in at this awesome location in Nice which is only 5 minutes walk from the Beach and near the old city. The heat was sometimes too hot for sleeping at night but the awesome weather during the day made it worth it. This place is highly recommended for a place to stay in one of the best locations in Nice.
Above and beyond expectations in terms of information provide to experience the French Riveria. However, bring your own toiletry including tissue paper and hairdryer.
Salvatore was very professional in the way he deals with clients. A full 'instruction manual' was provided in order to make the most of my stay which included maps showing nearest markets/supermarkets from the apartment, nearby points of interest and how to get there etc, it saved me alot of time as i was only in nice 3 days. The apartment is excellent, and only a couple of streets back from the seafront, a 2 minute walk to the tram stop which can take you to nice train station connecting you to cannes (approx 40 minute) and monaco (approx 20 minute) for example. All in all i would definitely stay here again.
The place is in a great location in between the old and new town. All the nearby towns are well connected from bus services which start pretty near the place. Plus all the major shopping and other attractions are reasonably nearby including the beach. But the place is awefully small for more than even 1 person and unfortunately in our room the AC did not work properly which made it quite difficult. Salvatore was very helpful in trying to resolve all the issues but obviously the place itself being so small that it was not very comfortable for 3 of us.
Great Location. Very close to beach and old part of nice. Clean and fresh. Enjoy the bunk bed.
