More Details:

In our 3 bed / 3 bath house, we have a large Recreation Room in the basement with a 40" LCD TV with a Wii video game system, a PlayStation 2 video game system, cable TV, and 3 comfortable sofas, one of which turns into a queen-sized sofabed. The queen sofabed has a Sealy Posturepedic mattress, and I have a memory foam mattress pad AND a thick cotton mattress pad for additional cushion on the already high quality mattress. There is also enough additional floor space to inflate our queen air mattress, so the room can sleep up to 6 people (two in the bed, two on the air mattress, and two on the other two sofas).

The room also has a wet bar and 4 bar stools, with a medium-sized refrigerator/freezer behind it, but you are more than welcome to use the full kitchen on the main floor which is a shared space. You are welcome to use the other shared living spaces as well: living room, dining room, office, patio, porch, etc. There is off-street parking available in our driveway (don't worry about blocking us in or getting blocked in - we have a HUGE driveway suitable for two guest vehicles) and always plenty of free on-street parking in our quiet neighborhood.

We have two elderly cats that are very friendly and low-key. We keep them out of sleeping areas (including the Recreation Room) at all times due to allergies (I am allergic to cats, so I do my best to keep the rest of the house clean as well).

We want to make your stay even more comfortable than a hotel, so just ask us for anything that you need! You'll find all the conveniences you can imagine within walking distance of our house - parks, restaurants, a movie theater, upscale and discount shopping, groceries, pubs, a sushi bar, a local ice cream parlor, fast food - you name it, it's right around the corner - just check the Guidebook I created for our listing!

We are in a pleasant neighborhood which is very centrally located with easy access to all the major highways in Cincinnati (minutes from I-71, I-75, Cross County Highway, the Norwood Lateral, and I-275). There is a public bus system with nearby stops, or if traveling by card, the following attractions accessible in under 30 minutes:
---Downtown in less than 20 minutes during non rush hours, 25-35 minutes during rush hour
---King's Island amusement park, water park, and resort, is less than a 20 minute drive to the north
---The Newport Aquarium is a 25 minute drive to the south, just across the Ohio River
---The Freedom Center, multiple art museums and historic landmarks, and the Reds & Bengals stadiums are all within a 20 minute drive during non rush hour times

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • It was great to have the entire downstairs area to stretch out during my 5 night stay in the Cincinnati area. Remi is friendly, easy-going, and an incredibly gracious host who will give you as much privacy or conversation as you desire. Communication was great leading up to my stay, and he even sent me home with one of his finely crafted homebrews! Add mine to the scores of other glowing reviews. I would definitely return if in the area again.

  • Place was GREAT! House is in excellent location, many shops & restaurants within walking distance! Very spacious! Would recomend to anyone!

  • This was a great place to stay with convenient parking and lots of privacy. With a private bathroom, microwave, and refrigerator, the space functions as it's own little downstairs apartment. Having laundry facilities adjacent to the sleeping area was great, too. I would definitely stay here again if I were in the area.

  • This was a great location for us. Remi was very helpful particularly as we arrived very late and one of our bags didn't arrive. Remi helped us get the bag delivered. The accomodation was private, comfortable and had all of the facilities we required, we also liked the neighbourhood. We would use it again.

  • Remi was a great and very accommodating host! The place very well kept and clean. It was also close to a pretty nice mall and the interstate, so getting to the city center isn't bad at all. I would definitely recommend a stay here if you're visiting Cincy.

  • Very nice stay, remi was super chill and very responsive. Had my own bathroom, which was nice, and it was super clean. Internet worked great, flat screen tv was a nice touch, the couch was very comfortable. Also very convenient to have a private entrance and parking area in back.

Would def. recommend. One tip - coming back at night, the area is dark (but totally safe) - just can be hard to read the address, and also watch the stairs in the back entrance. There is a light, but i forgot to turn it on before i left during the day.

  • Fantastic location, bnb and host !

  • My stay at Remi and Jillian's place was perfect for me. In particular, as I was staying there to work long and odd hours in Cincinnati for a few days, it was great to have a separate entrance. Remi was extremely prompt and most friendly in communications with me, and it was kind of him to offer me the space with a last-minute booking. I didn't use the fold out bed. Instead I found the cozy couch for me (there are three to choose from), curled up, and slept well right there. The location is great, on a quiet neighborhood street, but near everything you might need and about 20 minutes or so from downtown by car. I enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay there again. Thanks Remi!

Being married to someone handicapped (he wasn't with me this time), I always comment on accessibility for use by others like me. This room is in the basement and not wheelchair accessible. It is carpeted with many things to hold onto throughout. There are three low, soft couches, one soft sofa-like chair and several bar stools. No classic, desk table and chair. For a basement, it is well lit. The light switches are in unusual places, so if you are coming in at night, be sure to have made note where they are. The room is very clean and uncluttered, and the cat apparently is never in there (probably okay for those with mild cat allergies).

  • Jillian and Remi were fast to respond, had good communication throughout the process, and played the perfect hosts during our stay.

The location itself is only a few minutes to EVERYTHING, which made logistics pretty easy, too.

Overall, a full recommendation - thanks Jillian/Remi! Will reach out if we ever find ourselves in Ohio again.

  • We stayed at Jillian and Remi recriation room for four weeks and enjoyed it very much.
The room was nice, clean and had lots of storage. The neighborhood is nice and quiet and near Kenwood mall. Moreover, Jillian and Remi were great hosts and have helped us to adjust in Cincinnati.

I am 34 years old and my husband Remi is 35. We have been friends for 14 years and married for 6 years. We're very good at making each other laugh and most likely you as well. :-) I'm an IT professional, but recently decided to leave "Corporate America" to start my own web services company. Remi has a background in biochemistry and works as a Laboratory Services Manager for an oleochemical firm in Cincinnati, OH. We love wine (particularly deep reds like Malbec and Zinfandel) and microbrew beer (especially IPAs). Remi is also an excellent homebrewer. We love to travel to new places and meet new people as often as possible. Remi likes to play ice hockey and I like to practice yoga. We're electronic music junkies (both for listening and for dancing), but still have an appreciation for many other forms of music. We're both strong Libertarians which means (in a nutshell) that we respect any way you choose to live your life so long as you don't harm or defraud anyone else in the process - this extends to personal freedoms as well as economic freedoms - live and let live. We look forward to meeting you!
