E Williamsburg Artist Retreat;Beige

Apartment - Private room · Flushing Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11201, United States

Beautiful, creative, artistic environment at the point where three neighborhoods meet.

The Space

Situated on the edge Williamsburg where Bushwick meets Bed-Stuy you will find this avant garde area known for its vibrant underground scene. This up and coming neighborhood is stirring with Bohemian night spots, funky cafes, dive bars, art gallery's and junk shops all in walking distance. Not to mention everything is very affordable.

The JMZ train is less than a block away and there's a short cut making it about a 4 minute walk to the Myrtle Stop. This is a great station because there are always two trains heading in to the city. The J train runs express and is 2 stops from Manhattan, very close and very fast. The M runs local and is about a 15 minute subway ride into Manhattan. This is a great place to stay if your working any where in NYC as the commute is very easy and not as aggressive as the L train commute. The L train is available however, about a 15 minute walk to the Jefferson stop. I personally prefer the J or M because its just outside the door.

A beautiful and sunny apartment on the 2nd floor it features 2 private bedrooms both with full size beds. Each room accommodates 2 people. Bed rooms are back to back, joined by individual closets, so theres no noise. White in the front and Beige in the back. There's a huge open living room, dining area with a table and an enclosed kitchen. There are plants every where there is sun light, along with art work from my private collection. Apartment is modest and minimal, and always nice and warm. Light lounge wear is acceptable as guests are encouraged to relax after a long New York City day.

The Beige Room is in the back of the apartment where the light is beautiful. It's very quiet with a tranquil atmosphere, perfect for 2 people, as it's a little bigger than the white room. Fresh bedding and towels are always available.

I am in and out of the apartment and have a studio here where I work and occasionally sleep.

  • Hi !
I was in Gigi's house 10 days in March! She was very nice :-). I really enjoyed the room and the flat ! Gigi is very cool and makes sure that everything is good for you. She is ready to answer to your questions. She is connected to here phone and email ... I've got only positive things to say about my stay.
As regards the flat, it's near the station and the center of nyc. You also have shops to buy food.
    10/10 !!

    Sault!

  • Our stay at Gigi's was wonderful! Her apartment is cozy and clean (a small oasis from the rest of the bldg.). Gigi is friendly and extremely helpful; she made sure to be available when we arrived and helped us navigate through the NY subway system on our way there. The location is great - 2 blocks away from the a major train stop that connects easily to the rest of the city. We enjoyed the neighborhood feel of the place; and it is clear that Bushwick is on its way to being the next hip place. Though you have to walk a few blocks to find them, there are quite a number of really wonderful, eclectic restaurants about a 10-15 min. walk away from Gigi's place. We discovered a great coffee shop (Central Cafe) and made it our daily stop for coffee. Also, there is a great corner market near the apt. that is awesome!

  • This was my first trip to New York City, and I'd like to thank G for helping make it such a wonderful time! She was very accommodating - it was a windy and cold the week, but her place was always cozy, warm, and inviting. The bathroom was clean with warm water, and G provides towels so you won't have to bring your own. If you're allergic to cats, you should be fine staying here because Kitty is hairless (I didn't have any adverse reactions).
The location is prime, about two blocks from a subway station that's just a few stops away from Manhattan. I was able to get around easily and see everything I had wanted to. I also liked the neighborhood itself, there are cafes and bars (Skytown, Salad Wheel, Happyfun) that I recommend scouting out.

  • Gi gi is a fabulous host. She communicates really well and made sure to keep up with me as I traveled. Makes one feel at home before they even arrive. She has a beautiful apartment. It's simple but clearly stated. If you have any creative pulse you will adore this place, and if you don't, ask her about and she is really passionate about what she does as an artist: she's great to talk to. The room was perfect. If you need anything at all just ask! Thank you again Gi gi for a great stay.

    The location is great too.

  • So... My stay with Gi Gi was amazing! I don't think I've ever met a more accommodating, friendly, all around awesome host like her. She had a superior knowledge of NYC, and she was always open for chats, hanging out or going out and exploring the city. Her apartment was beautiful, the bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've slept on (though it being NYC, I hardly slept on it!), and her kitty was so fun to play with. The neighbourhood itself was cool, very lively, lots of food places and easy to access from the subway system. The other guests in her house were very cool and fun, and I'm happy I've made new friends! With so many places on offer in NYC, if you want a true experience of this crazy city, come stay with Gi Gi... you will love every minute of it!

  • Great location to get in and out of Manhattan. Only 1 block to the subway. Cafes and food markets close by. Little skips is about a 10 min walk with the best coffee in the area and Salad Wheel have good fresh meal options. Room and apartment are a good size. GIGI is a great host!

About
I'm an artist from New York and have lived in NYC for 13 years. I love traveling and have been all over the world. The most interesting thing to me is the beauty and hospitality you can find once you open your self up to new things. New York City is an adventure in its self. This is a secure place to begin and end the escapade. As a host I like to give people space and let them enjoy the apartment. I'm a very social person but also love privacy. Every situation is different and I find it very important to respect people needs on an individual basis. I live here and work here often, so chances are we will be running into each other. I always give my guests priority and make sure they are very happy. I've had great experiences doing this. I've met the most amazing people and have made life long friends. Sometimes we have a drink together, occasionally a smoke, sometimes we have tea, sometimes we move all the furniture and have a dance party, tend to stay up late talking, do graffiti in the streets, switch up the art work in the house, and sometimes we just simply pass each other and have a nice chat. Either way, I warmly invite you to come stay here.
